This document summarizes key aspects of different movie genres: - Action films rely heavily on special effects and stunts and have large budgets. They feature recognizable action stars but are not highly praised critically. - Comedy films are star-driven and have lighter stories and budgets than action films. They aim to make audiences laugh. - Thriller movies have serious stories, mystery, and suspense to keep audiences interested. They feature powerful performances. - Horror movies use graphic special effects to scare audiences and invent new ways for characters to die gruesome deaths. Believable performances are prioritized over quality of acting.

2. Action
I have found that action films rely on either CGI effects or
stuntmen to complete the action sequences in their films,
which is pivotal for their films to work. Action films
normally have very big budgets, normally, exceeding the
$100 million mark, as the action sequences require a lot of
money to be authentic. I have also found that action
movies have stereotypical action heroes as well such as:
Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger,
Jean-Claude Van Damme etc. These actors have vast
experience in action movies and studios look to these
actors if they are making an action film. What I have also
noticed is that action do not get much acclaim in terms of
reviews by critics as their stories and character
development is not as important as the action sequences.

3. Comedy
I have found that comedy movies are mainly star driven,
they require a charismatic and funny star that makes
the audience laugh such as Eddie Murphy in the
Beverly Hills Cop series of films. Stars in each comedy
movies are different as they have their own style to
make the audience love them for example Zach
Galifianakis in the Hangover series. I have found that
comedy ten to have smaller budgets compared to
action movies, with their budgets barely exceeding the
$50 million mark. I have also found that comedies
always have light hearted stories as their bases and
therefore the audience cant take them seriously.

4. Thriller
Thriller movies tend to have very serious stories for
example someone gets murdered at the start,
then the detective must work out who this
criminal is. They also have mystery around every
corner, there is never a straight forward answer
for anything and the audience will always be kept
in the dark. Thriller movies typically powerful
performances to keep the audience interested. A
typical thriller actor might be Morgan Freeman
in, ‘The Bone Collector’, ‘Along Came a Spider’
and ‘Seven’.

5. Horror
Horror movies are usually require a lot of effects to make
the audience believe, for example, somebody’s
intestines have been chopped out. I find that horror
movies require a lot of scary situations to pull the
audience in. I find that movies like the seven ‘SAW’
movies really invented new ways for people to die a
gruesome death, these effects make the audience want
to close their eyes and open them at the same time to
see what happens. I have also found that horror
movies do not essentially need good performances,
but they just need to be believable so the audience can
feel their terror and fear of the unknown.
