PermaFrost is a solution that cleans oil fouling from HVAC coils. Oil fouling occurs when compressor oil leaks into the refrigerant loop and is deposited on coil surfaces over time, degrading efficiency by up to 40%. PermaFrost dislodges deposited oil and forms a microscopic coating that reduces friction and improves heat transfer, increasing efficiency. Field tests show PermaFrost can reduce energy consumption by 8-10% and lower carbon emissions. It works on various system types and refrigerants with no harmful effects.

The Allen Tap Changer Filter System is highlighted as a self-contained automatic filtering system that removes solids, moisture, and gases from tap changer oil on a continuous basis to keep it clean. The system utilizes pumps, filters, heaters and other components enclosed in a weatherproof cabinet to maintain optimal dielectric properties in the tap changer tank.
Evaporator coils in HVAC systems like air conditioners are made of aluminum and copper pipes. They have two main units - the evaporator coil and condenser coil. Their main function is to absorb heat from room air and release cold air. Regular preventive maintenance by a professional, at least once a year, is important to ensure optimal functioning of air conditioner coils. Over time, coils can accumulate contaminants like dirt and mold from circulating air, making them dirty and less effective at heat transfer.

3. HVAC Systems have an Energy Consumption
Design Flaw called “Oil Fouling”
PermaFrost™ provides:
A Solution
Additional Benefits
4. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems Oil Fouling
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning
Engineers (ASHRAE) have addressed the results of the interaction
between the oil and the refrigerant. Oil fouling of the heat transfer
surfaces of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, will cause a
loss of about 7% efficiency the first year, 5% the second year,
and 2% per year the following years. According to ASHRAE,
performance is degraded by as much as 30% due to the
build-up of lubricants on internal surfaces. Higher
percentages up to 40% have been observed
in systems 20 years old or older.
1998 ASHRAE Handbook, Refrigeration, Chap. 6.7
5. How Oil Fouling Occurs
There is no one product line that can have such
an impact on the environmental movement,
- Oil is needed to lubricate the
sustainability and your bottom line.
compressor’s cylinder, rings
and piston to prevent burnout
- This oil leaks around seals
and into the refrigerant loop
- The refrigerant then carries the
oil particles into the coil system
6. Visual Effects of Oil Fouling
There is no one product line that can have such
an impact on the environmental movement,
- Unwanted oil contaminates the
sustainability and coils making themline.
your bottom dirty
- This Oil Fouling happens
continuously until the coils are
completely covered with oil
- After just a few years in operation,
your HVAC unit is operating at only
60-70% of original design efficiency
8. PermaFrost ® is a 3-Part Chemical Solution to the
Mechanical Problem of “Oil Fouling”
PermaFrost® first dislodges the oil adhering to the inner walls of the
coils, putting it back into circulation where it is picked up by the dryer
filters or returned to the sump
PermaFrost® then imbeds itself into the space lattice of the metal at
the molecular level, forming a microscopic filler and coating that
increases the thermo conductive properties of the metal itself
By reducing the laminar friction associated with “oil fouling”,
PermaFrost® increases the flow rate of the refrigerant, improving the
heat transfer of the system
9. Basic Refrigeration Measurement
1. What is Delta T?
Difference between Supply Side and Return Side Temperatures
2. Why is it used?
Like a fever, it is an indicator if something is wrong with HVAC system
3. What can change it?
A whole number of things such as…
10. Delta-T issues that your Service
Technician can have an impact
on:
• Pressure Levels (refrigerant)
• Flow (air or refrigerant)
• Filters
• Dirty coils
• Several other issues
11. There is one important
thing affecting Delta-T that
your service technician
cannot do anything about
without taking your system
out of service…
Clean the oil off the inside
of the coils.
12. How much does Delta-T affect cost?
•16-19º is optimal target of efficient HVAC systems
• Every 1º in lost efficiency = 4% more power used
• Every 1º in improvement = 4% total power saved
Lower Delta-T = Shorter Equipment Life
13. When the Delta-T is out of optimal range,
your HVAC systems…
Runs longer
Wears out faster
Breaks down more often
Wastes energy
Costs your company $$$$
14. What PermaFrost® will do…
Installed into the lowside port while the unit is running,
PermaFrost® will clean the coil system from the inside and
prevent the oil from reattaching to the surface ever again
PermaFrost® will return the “fouled” oil back to the dryer
filter or oil sump where it belongs
PermaFrost® will aid in lubricating the compressor by
treating the metal, making it smoother and slicker,
reducing amp draw
PermaFrost® will protect your overall HVAC system from
common degradation problems
15. What PermaFrost® will not do…
PermaFrost® is not an oil additive. It will not change or
negatively affect the chemical properties of the oil in
an HVAC system in any way.
PermaFrost® uses refrigerant as a transport mechanism
to deliver the product throughout the coils, but it
will not stay suspended. It takes itself out of
circulation by completely imbedding into the
metal lattice within 30-60 days
PermaFrost® will not harm your system;
it’s chemically impossible when right product is
correctly matched to the system’s refrigerant.
16. Value Proposition of PermaFrost ®
• A one-time eco-friendly sustainable treatment that delivers lifetime system
efficiency by permanently improving cooling performance
• Improved thermodynamic characteristics of the heat exchange process
means less run time, lower energy costs, and longer equipment life
• Sold by the ton of cooling capacity of a system, the ROI for PermaFrost ®
is measured in months instead of years
• Treated units reach set temperatures quicker,
allowing them to shut off or throttle back and there
are no better KWh savings than OFF!
Now that’s GREEN!
17. How you know PermaFrost® is working?
We measure Delta-T (difference between supply side and return side
temps) directly at the unit to minimize the effects of building variables on
the test results.
Powertron Global guarantees a 2° improvement in Delta-T and/or 5%
more in Energy savings or we’ll refund the cost of the product.
We measure COP (coefficient of performance) which equates to cooling
efficiency by determining the Kilowatts needed to produce one ton of
cooling capacity.
Powertron Global guarantees 4% COP improvement in a chiller or we’ll
refund cost of the product.

20. Reduce Energy Consumption
Citibank installed PermaFrost™ in 51 of their retail branches in southern
Florida. The results showed a decreased kWh consumption of 8% from
July to December of 2008 and 9.9% reduction from January to June of
2009.
The following year showed approximately 9% reduction of kWh off the
power bill which was due to 18-20% less energy used by the HVAC units
treated with PermaFrost™
This data compelled Citibank to begin a
worldwide rollout of PermaFrost™.
Citibank already has over 1,000 installations.
21. Reduce Carbon Emissions
According to the US Department of Energy, for every 1,000 kWh saved by the
“off-time” there is a reduction of 1,341 pounds of CO2 released into the
atmosphere.
In just one year, Citibank reduced their kWh consumption by 1,292,724 kWh
in the 51 locations in South Florida.
That means Citibank reduced their green house gas
emissions by 1,712,575 lbs for the 12 month period.
22. We’ve passed all the performance tests
6 World-Class Laboratory Trials
50+ Documented Field Trials
