Approaching Developer Relations in an Open Source communityAll Things Open
Presented by: Shedrack Akintayo
Presented at the All Things Open 2021
Raleigh, NC, USA
Raleigh Convention Center
Abstract: Developer Relations is a very new concept in the industry today, a lot of B2D companies are beginning to pay serious attention to it, and this way their community of users are happy and effective.
I believe that this should be the same in open source communities because Developers and Designers are at the heart of every open source community.
In this talk, I'll list out why open source communities should care about Developer Relations, methods & strategies that can be used to approach developer relations in open source, and lastly, how to build an effective developer relations program in an open-source community.
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Apply the right methods to relating with developers in their OSS communities.
- Develop strategies that are helpful in making developers in their communities feel happy
- Encourage inclusiveness in their communities towards not just developers but designers also

A Guide to Getting Started “on the cheap”
TODO group has published a series of useful guidelines on how to create an open source program office but the reality of implementing can come with unexpected challenges and surprising opportunities. The broad scope of an open source program requires cross-functional coordination between multiple teams with differing goals, culture, focus areas, perspectives, and priorities, including legal, engineering, design, product, business, marketing, and branding. The success of the open source movement has made the concept of open source software so pervasive that it created another layer of challenges in education and communication. This talk will provide the honest story of my one-year journey of building the open source program office at Uber. I will share my observations and takeaways, as well as what I found rewarding and impactful during the process.

Presentation to the AT Community of Practice at UCD January 2016 on how AT users and professionals can benefit from the new social and technological innovations associated with Maker Culture?
This presentation contains an overview about things to keep in mind when trying to build a community. As one of the first slides already states: you cannot create a community, it is already there. However you can help the community better in several ways. Therefore a model of the different phases of a member in a community is used. Based on this model several actions are defined which a community manager could take to help the community. The last few slides contain an overview of several well known social media cases.
Co-creation, Open Innovation & Real-Time Collaboration - A web based platform...Erik Micheelsen
Introducing 2nd generation for Open Innovation, Co-creation and Real-Time Collaboration.
How a real-time collaborative, web based platform can effectively help your organization or regional hub to innovate.
We're designing and developing a web based innovation platform for Social Innovations on a global scale called Care Cubicle. We've taken the back-bone CareCubicle and re-designed it to fit business, organizational or even regional needs for innovation. We call it CoCreator.
Thus, the platform is designed for performance at a global level.
Each owner of a CoCreator platform can work isolated or they can flip the switch and be a part of creating Social Innovations and other CSR initiatives.
The platform also allows for Augmented Reality.
A Web based Co-creation and Open Innovation platform for businessErik Micheelsen
Updated 30 Nov 2012! 2nd generation platform - now you can design your own Real-Time Collaborative web based platform.
The Idea is simply to combine new web based technologies with well proven innovation methods, mixed with exciting graphics, movies and dynamic tools, into the worlds first Co-Creation platform

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
