Game Script Analysis
Constantine
Constantine is very obviously a fictional script and game
due to the nature of the monsters that the player has to
face and defeat throughout.
The game and this particular part of the script is in a
Linear style meaning it is arranged in chronological
order as well as single stranded because the plot is
focused on one main point.
This sort of game script is
used for cutscenes etc.
when a player doesn’t
have a choice of the next
option unlike in game
dialogue.
This is very similar to a film
script with Characters,
Dialogue and action.
The language and deeper
meaning isn’t very
complicated and standard
due to the nature of the
game and the need to
make cut scenes short and
simple but meaningful to
the storyline usually
explaining key information
for the next step
In game dialogue is a
bit more different as it
doesn’t have a specific
order In which its
shown, instead it
depends on the needs
of the game/player
who has the option of
what happens next
and what kind of
action this
consequently triggers.
This sort of dialogue
will mostly be used
when players come
into certain situations
where the player
needs hints or key
information to
continue the game.
For example, when
John says “ah the final
shotgun piece, Ill be
taking that” refers to
the gameplay and
informs the player
they can ‘assemble the
shotgun’
