Smartphones keep getting larger and tablets are getting smaller, beginning to totally blur what was just a few years ago considered a group of distinct form factors. The platforms that power these blocks of glass, plastic, and silicon have also seen improvements, with iOS7 appearing to be able to keep the iPhone growth alive and Android utterly dominating countries such as China in its path to 1 billion activations. New operating systems such as Firefox are in the wild as companies such as Microsoft frantically try to right the ship and save their platforms and devices from obscurity.
Across Europe 4G LTE is beginning to see deployments that will allow its users to see the speed and latency benefits that those in parts of Asia, the US, and others have over the past years. This in turn will begin to accelerate mobile data consumption and creation across a greater global footprint. Live and high quality video from mobile devices will become amazingly commonplace.
Today we are also seeing new products from Google, Samsung and even possibly Apple that are serious entrants to the wearable technology arena – and all of them are running mobile operating systems. Apple has thrown down the gauntlet against NFC technology with its new iBeacon service which means that all parties involved are taking mobile payments and other types of direct interactions over secure mobile channels very seriously.
Organizations who are late to the mobile game are hurrying to catch up. Many who have focused more on the consumer aspect of mobility are starting to put serious efforts into B2E mobile initiatives. Those who are already mobilizing their workforce are looking for ways to improve, standardize, and focus their efforts.
Also, the Web isn’t going anywhere….
So what does this all mean to you?

All have successful mobile products that have added significant value to their respective brands. All of which have a look, feel, value proposition and use case that is distinct from their parent web products. The marketers and developers behind these products understood that developing successful mobile offerings boils down to one simple rule – know your user.
The advent of user friendly, web enabled smart phones has created a tremendous branding (and revenue) opportunity, but in the rush to take advantage of that opportunity many companies simply replicate their web offerings onto a mobile platform - a misstep that can mean the difference between a mobile phenomenon and failure.
Join Nitzan Shaer, founder of High Start Group and Skype Mobile, and Cimarron Buser, VP of product and marketing at Apperian, for a conversation about developing killer mobile applications for your end user.
Attendees will learn how to:
• Design mobile value propositions for your audience
• Understand what makes a mobile product go viral in your target segment
• Use mobile to enhance the value of your brand, increase revenue, and create loyalty
For better or for worse, like it or not, mobile wearables are already changing our lives. Combined with social media, mobile wearable devices form a new generation of personalized technology that knows us better than our closest friends. How many of your friends know how far you walked or what you ate? The challenge for developing applications is correctly incorporating context to add value your users hadn’t considered while being sensitive to their privacy. In the future, our devices will wake us up earlier because of the ice storm last night and contact the people we are meeting to warn them we could be late. Philip Lew covers the most important element of mobile user experience and customer experience―context. Using examples, Phil breaks down context into elements you can incorporate into your design and development. Learn the contextual elements you need to incorporate right now and identify key factors for future generation products based on providing anticipatory services.
