In the early 1960s, X was a journalist doing a story about Dykes Askew Simmons, an
American murderer serving time in a prison in Mexico. While visiting the Mexican prison, X
learned that Simmons had once been shot while trying to escape. Critically wounded,
Simmons was taken to Dr. Salazar who performed a life-saving surgery.
Intrigued by this, X wanted to interview the surgeon, mistakenly assuming that Dr. Salazar
was a prison doctor. It was an understandable assumption. Since he had medical training,
Dr. Salazar worked with the poor and even had his own office inside the prison.
When X finally met Dr. Salazar, he noticed that he was “a small, lithe man with dark red
hair”. X later described Dr. Salazar as a man who stood very still and had “a certain
elegance about him”. The men began talking, but very quickly, X lost control of the
conversation and Dr. Salazar began probing X, asking questions about Simmons’s victims
and lecturing about the nature of torment. When the interview was over, X asked the
warden about Dr. Salazar’s medical career. The shocked warden replied - “Hombre! The
doctor is a murderer! As a surgeon, he could package his victim in a surprisingly small box.
He will never leave this place. He is insane.”

made by X and chronicles the story of Henry, a cute little hedgehog who loves to hug
despite his prickly spines. Things turn interesting rather quickly when he has a
birthday party with a bunch of balloon animals as guests.
This short film is narrated by Elijah Wood, and is directed by Ramiro Lopez Dau, an
ex-Pixar animator who worked on projects like “Brave” and “Cars 2”.
In September 2016, this movie won an Emmy award in the category - “best
outstanding original interactive program”.
After winning the Emmy, director Ramiro Lopez Dau said - “We hope this represents a
tipping point for the Y industry. We’ve wanted to show that Y is an art form – a place
that welcomes storytellers and that even at this very, very early stage it can be a
powerful tool for storytelling. This Emmy validates that vision.”

record without it. Y called up his manager and explained “Miami,
dear, can you get over here? You’ve got to get me out of here. I’m
recording with a llama. I’ve had enough and I want to get out.”

cinema has often criticized Quentin Tarantino for
the amount of needless racism and violence in his
films. An example is shown in the following audio
from the cult classic ‘Pulp Fiction’.

Martin and Lewis were a pair of white comedians
whereas Amos and Andy were a pair of black
comedians. So, the waiter’s question is basically
code for whether she wants Chocolate or Vanilla.

X, whom Brian May of Queen once called ‘the father of Heavy
Metal’ has a very interesting story. While working in a factory
as a teenager, he lost the tips of the middle and ring finger of
his right hand in an accident. He thought briefly of
abandoning the guitar, but was movitated by his factory
foreman, who played him a record of popular jazz guitarist
Django Reinhardt, who had also suffered a similar fate and
was famous for playing with just two fingers on the fretboard.
X continued to play with his natural hand, fitting thimbles in
his injured fingers to extend and protect them. Also, he used
the injured fingers predominantly for fretting chords rather
than single-note solos. Later, he also began to tune his guitar
to lower pitches, sometimes as far as three semitones below
standard guitar tuning, which created a bigger, heavier
sound- which was characteristic of X’s band Y and also a
major step towards the development of heavy metal itself.

X, whose pseudonym is Y, was a 20th century writer, whose work
is marked by awareness to social injustice, opposition to ____ and

X famously decided to go to Spain to take part in the Spanish Civil
War on the Republican side. On his way to Spain, he dined with
American novelist Henry Miller (Tropic of Cancer, Black Spring),
who told him that going to fight in the Civil War out of some sense
of obligation or guilt was 'sheer stupidity,' and that his ideas
'about combating Fascism, defending democracy, etc., etc., were all
baloney.
In the Spanish Civil War, X took a bullet to the throat but survived.
However, this resulted in a deterioration of X’s general health, thus
preventing him from participation of any kind in the second world
war.
X also famously described H.G. Wells as “too sane to understand
the modern world.” Wells took offence to this and this resulted in
a row between the two legendary writers.

the inscription X to one of her paintings. The phrase X
reflected the artist’s irony of acclaiming life while suffering
physically.
This inspired the title of a very popular album. When asked

course, and then she started a big painting in her house that
said X. I just love the boldness of it.”, referring to Y’s strength,
enduring polio, a broken spine and a decade of chronic pain.

The Bogside Massacre took place on Sunday, 30 January
1972 in the Bogside area of Derry, Northern Ireland. British
soldiers shot 26 unarmed civilians during a protest march
against mass arrest and internment (imprisonment without
trial) of 342 people suspected of being involved with the
Irish Republican Army (IRA), which was waging a
campaign for a united Ireland against the British state.
This inspired X to write the song Y along with his second
wife, a Japanese songwriter and peace activist.
Even Black Sabbath wrote a song about the incident which
is called Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. U2 as well rote a song
titled Y commemorating the incident.

boy obsessed by the protagonist of the book Y, which is the only
novel written by Z. In the film, which is based on true events, the

The title of the film is a reference to a traditional childrens’ song
written by Robert Burns in 1782, which is actually where the title

in the post-World War II era. The bulk of their work

1950s. Central elements of Beat culture are rejection

Now, Fagen and Becker, founders of the band X,
were huge fans of Beat Literature and decided to
name their band after ‘X III from Yokohoma’, a strap-
on dildo mentioned in the William Burroughs novel

Brokeback Mountain is a 2005 movie directed by Ang
Lee starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall. The
secretive and forbidden relationship between two
cowboys over the course of their lives forms the plot of
the movie. When asked about the movie’s poster, Lee
said “[We] didn't research posters of famous Westerns
for ideas. [We] looked at the posters of the 50 most
romantic movies ever made.“ The poster of the film is

famous writers in the world. This was the first
time that an X story was made into a

in the 1970s. He is probably best known for an iconic song he
wrote in 1969-however, X also had a successful acting career and
appeared in lead and supporting roles in many films such as
Labyrinth, Basquiat, The Man Who Fell to Earth etc. For people
who don't watch movies made in the previous millennium, he
also played Nikola Tesla in Christopher Nolan's The Prestige. Id

Greek lyric poet Simonides was celebrating with his relatives
at a banquet when he received word that two young men were
waiting outside to see him. When he got outside, however, he
discovered firstly that the two young men were nowhere to be
found and, secondly, that the dining hall of the palace was
collapsing behind him. A number of his relatives were killed.
Apparently the two young men had rewarded the poet due to
their admiration of his work by thus saving his life.
During the excavation of the rubble of the dining hall of the
palace, Simonides was called upon to identify each guest
killed. Their bodies had been crushed beyond recognition but
he completed the gruesome task by correlating their identities
to their positions at the table before his departure.
This is the story behind the origin of the name of a mnemonic
device, which has become famous these days due to its use by

book by David Nolan. It provides a detailed account of X’s

However, they - in particular, X’s father soon began to feel they
were being misrepresented in the documentary, that the negative
aspects of X's life were receiving much more attention than the
positive, and that footage had been edited in order to produce an
inaccurate narrative of X's story, especially the last three years of
her life. He has said that X's fans should consider seeing the film
for the rare, previously unseen, archive footage of his daughter,
but should pay no attention to the film's general portrayal of her,
which he has labeled "preposterous". Even after the film was
nominated for an Academy Award as 'Best Documentary', X’s
father tweeted on : "Still hate the film though."

minutes in the song, there is a very strange transition in the
song where lead singer X begins to repeat the phrase “ Mr. Z
Rising” which is an anagram of X’s name itself. The chant
gradually grows faster as if to simulate orgasm.
A Z is a Hoodoo charm, usually a bag filled with items like
roots, lodestone, rattlesnake rattles, alligator teeth, charms,
coins - whatever does the trick. Many white listeners,
including X, thought Z meant sexual energy, and that is
how it's usually interpreted today, in part due to Austin
Powers movies.

incident, X went on to form a band W, which has won 11
Grammies till date.
The band W got its name from the UFOs and various aerial

the guitar, harmonica and keyboards. Though he was initially the
leader of the group, his band members, A and B soon

gradually diminished. He was eventually asked by the other
bandmembers to leave the group.

Almost five decades following its release, X’s 1967 album
‘Axis: Bold as Love’ was banned in Malaysia. But unlike other
X projects, the decision was not due to anything overtly
sexual or drug-related in the material.
According to the Malay Mail, the Malaysian Home Ministry’s
Publication Control and Quranic Text unit took offense to the
album’s cover, claiming that it too closely resembles the
various forms of Lord Vishnu and could hurt the sentiments
of several people.
