Created in the 1970s as a women's clothing store in Philadelphia called Free People, it was renamed Urban Outfitters and expanded into a chain when it found success. A wholesale line called Free People was also created and sold in department stores. While Urban Outfitters was highly successful, the first Free People boutique opened in 2002. Today there are 77 Free People boutique locations in the United States selling bohemian clothing, accessories, swimwear and intimates. The document examines Free People's social media presence and number of posts on various platforms over a one week period in June.
