Radical open innovation requires systems thinking and problem solving methods. It involves collaboration across diverse partners to solve complex problems accelerated by technological, economic, and environmental changes. Systems thinking views problems holistically rather than through generalizations and can help address unintended consequences and design effective policies for managing systems. Key tools for systems thinking include causal loop diagrams, stock and flow models, and identifying archetypes to predict system behaviors and assess how proposed changes may impact the system over time. Simulation is also essential to validate if changes will lead to sustainable outcomes.
Machine learning is and should not be the exclusive domain of large commercial companies, data scientists, mathematics, computer scientists or hackers. Our belief is that every business and everyone should be able to take advantage of the machine learning techniques and applications available.

Open Architectures do not work: The need for real open ArchitecturesMaikel Mardjan
Slides of presentation given at T-dose.org 2016.
IT Architecture is not by definition high level and sometimes relevant details are of the utmost importance. Many proprietary tools exist for creating IT architectures. FOSS tools for creating architectures are still not commonly used. Also many architectures created are never exposed. In this way it is hard to learn from others. Maybe it is now time to promote open architectures. Maybe we should create more and better FOSS tools like microservices that helps us with creating the perfect FOSS architecture tool!

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

4. A DEFINITION…
Our definition used for disruptive innovation:
An innovation that creates a new market and value network
that disrupt an already existing market and replaces an
existing product.
Be aware:
Some people like the sexy
term disruptive innovation.
In reality real disruptive
innovations in a mature
business IT landscape will
always take a few years to
have a real disrupting
impact.
5. HEALTHCARE SOFTWARE AND HEALTH
ANALYTICS
For 2017 the following emerging trends are seen:
FOSS will be become the standard for EMR(Electronic Medical
Records) & hospital systems.
More devices will be seen that allow FOSS software on their
platform especially for he consumer DIY healthcare market.
The golden margins of companies supporting and maintaining
legacy healthcare systems will be under pressure. With FOSS
there is no absolute vendor lock-in anymore. Everyone with
the required technical knowledge can support the systems
and fix problems.
6. HEALTHCARE SOFTWARE AND HEALTH
ANALYTICS APPLICATIONS
The FOSS package to watch in 2017 are:
Bahmi. Bahmni (http://www.bahmni.org/) is an easy-to-use
EMR & hospital system.
OpenEMR. OpenEMR (http://www.open-emr.org/) has already
a large base of companies supporting this ERP hospital
software. In 2017 a lot of work will go into modernization and
creating a new UI that meets today's usability standards.
Nightscout. The Nightscout (http://www.nightscout.info/)
project allows remote monitoring of a T1D’s glucose level
using existing monitoring devices.
OpenEyes™ an electronic medical record for eye care
(http://www.openeyes.org.uk/guide_to_openeyes )
7. DATA
The innovations on data storage that will
impact us in 2017 are offered by the
complex software solutions that are build
as layers upon modern hardware storage
devices.
Data and information is still a key for enabling innovation. But
without proper storing and retrieving data is useless and more data
will then not make your business more competitive.
The innovations on data storage that will impact us in 2017 are
offered by the complex software solutions that are build as layers
upon modern hardware storage devices.
8. DATA APPLICATIONS FOR 2017
Solutions on the data storage field that you should no longer ignore in

name a few. See http://open-zfs.org/wiki/Main_Page
IPFS. InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is IPFS is a distributed file
system that seeks to connect all computing devices with the
same system of files. A project you cannot ignore! See
https://ipfs.io/
TSB (Time Series Databases). TSDB’s are databases optimized for
time series data. Software with complex logic or business rules
and high transaction volume for time series data are not ideal for
storing data in a NOSQL or traditional relational database
management systems (RDBMS). There are a number of good
OSS TSBs available like e.g. : Graphite. Graphite collects, stores,
and displays time-series data in real time. See
https://graphiteapp.org/ But Elastic (https://www.elastic.co/ ) is
also for 2017 still a solution you should be aware of if you are
dealing with data on very large scale.
