Frank Lucas was a major crime boss in Harlem during the 1960s and 1970s. He started committing petty crimes as a youth and later came under the wing of Bumpy Johnson, a prominent gangster. After Johnson's death, Lucas seized the opportunity to expand his own criminal organization. He developed an extremely lucrative drug enterprise by traveling directly to Asia to source heroin, which he smuggled back to the U.S. in the coffins of dead soldiers. Lucas' drug operation was ultimately taken down and he served time in prison before entering witness protection.
