ALL ABOUT….CHIP CARTER
SPORTS DIRECTOR FOR FOX 13 NEWS

* Chip originally wanted to be a lawyer; he studied English with Pre-Law minor
at the University of New Hampshire. His dad was a hockey coach and Chip
got involved announcing the games for fun. He fell in love with it and
decided to switch his major to Broadcasting.

*His good friend was news director in another market up north and got
promoted to VP of news in Tampa and brought Chip with him.

*Started in 1988 at what was then CBS and is now FOX

*Sports Anchor for all 3 shows, sideline reporter for FOX Sports, NASCAR for
FOX News with Shepard Smith and mainly covers Rays, Lightning and USF.
   - Chip has a staff of 7 and is an Emmy award winning sports director
WHAT DOES CHIP CARTER HAVE TO SAY?
“ The hours can get kind of long sometimes…they can be anywhere from 2pm
until Midnight or 9am until Midnight. It just depends on the season and
what is going on during that time…but it’s all worth it in the end.”

“ I love covering USF stuff, especially USF football! We film a sit-down every
Tuesday with Skip Holtz called ‘Skip and Chip’ and it’s kind of a little
    personality show….that guys a riot!”

“ What’s really fun is you get to meet really cool people! Yeah, I get to go to
almost every major sporting event in the country but I also get to do a lot
of different things with the people that are the best in the business. I have
been hang-gliding and scuba diving with the best of the best…so that is
definitely one of the coolest parts of my job.”
