Fort Bend Regional SWAT Team
County Growth:
The east side of Fort Bend County’s
growth has been influenced by the growth
of Houston for many years.

This growth is now being experienced in
the west side of the county affecting areas
such as Rosenberg, Richmond and areas
along Hwy 59.

Foresight:

 Law enforcement administrators saw a
 need to develop and maintain a highly
 effective SWAT response capability by
 joining together to standardize training
 and response capabilities.
Benefits of a Regional SWAT Team
   Strengthens response capabilities
   Allows for coordinated response among multiple agencies
   Improves service to community
   Raises training standards to National Tactical Officers
    Association Standards
   Allows for acquisition of additional equipment and vehicles
   Allows for coordinated interaction with regional SWAT
    teams throughout the UASI region
   Standardizes procedures
   Greatly improves manpower availability
Fort Bend Regional SWAT Team
    Initial Steps Taken:
     November, 2009 – Initial meetings were conducted
      with Chiefs and current Team Leaders of all
      participating agencies
     Team Leaders were asked to identify equipment and
      training shortfalls and submit a list of items (with
      costs) needed to develop the regional team prior to
      January 1, 2009.
     Chiefs began serving as a committee to develop the
      Inter-Local Agreement and overall direction of the
      program.
     Began Receiving UASI grant funding

* Lenco Bearcat Armored Vehicle (1)
* All-terrain surveillance/inspection robots (2)
* Shields w/ light kits (12)
* Night vision optics for rifles (5)

* Passive / Thermal night vision devices (4)
* Hostage Negotiation equipment
* Basic SWAT training (10)
* Advanced SWAT training (5)
* Basic Sniper School (2)
* Specialized Training
