          THE CONDITIONAL

          I- There are mainly 4 types of the conditional : Type 0,Type 1,Type 2 , and Type 3.But the
most important ones are type 1 ,2 and 3.
          Producción

          TYPE 1 :

It is mainly about a possible or probable situation in the future which may or may not take
place. For example, Amine will study at the university if he gets his Bac diploma. The
present situation is that Amine has not got his Bac diploma yet because he is still studying
at the lycee. So,his future study at the university depends on the possibility of getting his
          Bac diploma.
The Grammatical Structure of Type 1 is as follows :

          IF+SIMPLE PRESENT+SIMPLE FUTURE
ACCIÓN

IF +Amine gets his Bac diploma+he will study at the university.
          SIMPLE FUTURE+IF+SIMPLE PRESENT
Amine will study at the university+if+he gets his Bac diploma.

TYPE 2 :

This type is concerned with a present situation. For example,(І) Leila is at a
clothes shop. She wants to buy a dress. The price of the dress is 500dh.But Leila has got
only 300dh.So,she cannot buy the dress because she doesnot have 500dh now.

If Leila had 500dh,she could buy the dress.
If Leila had 500dh,she would buy the dress.

The Grammatical Structure of type 2 is :

IF+SIMPLE PAST+CONDITIONAL TENSE(could or would + verb in the infinitive)
IF+Leila had 500dh,she could buy the dress.
CONDITIONAL TENSE(could or would + verb in the infinitive)+IF+SIMPLE PAST
Leila could buy+ the dress+ if+ she had 500dh.

TYPE 3 :

The situation of type 3 is in the past. The action of this situation started and ended in the
past. So,it is impossible to change that situation. For example,(ІІІ)
Ahmed didnot go to school yesterday because he was ill.(reality sentence:what
happened).
If Ahmed had not been ill ,he would have gone to school.(imagination sentence:what
didnot happen or what we wished it had happened).

The Grammatical Structure of type 3 is the following:

IF+PAST PERFECT+PERFECT CONDITIONAL(could or would +HAVE+PAST PARTICIPLE).

IF+Ahmed hadnot been ill+he could have gone to school.

PERFECT CONDITIONAL(could or would+HAVE+PAST PARTICIPLE)+IF+PAST PERFECT.

Ahmed+could have gone to school+IF+he had not been ill

Notice that the forms of the verbs(affirmative or negative) in conditional type 2 and type
3 are reversed. Thus, in type 2 ("cannot buy" and "doesn’t have" in (I) are negative,
change to affirmative in (II) and ("didn’t go"/negative) in (III) becomes ("would have
gone"/affirmative) in (IV) .Also,("was" /affirmative) in (III) becomes (had not been
/negative) in (IV) .
