This document provides an explanation of force unit and the theory of force. It defines force as an external cause that changes or tends to change the state of rest or uniform motion of a body. There are two types of forces: contact forces like push, pull, friction; and non-contact forces like gravitational, magnetic, and electric. Gravitational force is an attractive force between two bodies due to their masses. Torque is defined as force multiplied by the perpendicular distance from the line of action. The principles of moments state that for an object in rotational equilibrium, the sum of all clockwise torques equals the sum of all counter-clockwise torques. A couple is formed by two equal and opposite parallel forces causing rotation.
