FOODPROCESSINGSECTOR Fruit & Vegetable DAIRY MEAT& POULTRY MARINE GRAINS CONSUMER FOODS Packed food Aerated Beverage Packaged water Alcoholic Beverage •India stands 2nd in F&V, 1st in production of bananas papayas and mangoes. •The govt. expects the processing in this sector to grow by 25 % of total produce in 2025 •Indian agricultural/horticultural and processed foods are exported to more than 100 countries •India is the largest milk producer in the world (176.3 million tonnes) •India has the largest buffalo population (108.7 million) • Largest producer of buffalo meat (1.4 MT in 2015) and 2nd largest producer of goat meat (0.91 MT in 2015). The Indian poultry market, was worth INR 1,750 Billion in 2018. • The market is further projected to reach INR 4,340 Billion by 2024, growing at a CAGR of 16.2% during 2019-2024. • In 2017-18, India’s seafood exports have seen a growth of 13.7% in quantity and 10.1% in value. • Research expects that in 2019 India’s seafood exports will grow at 17-18%, clearly showing a demand for Indian products. •India is the largest pulses producer in the world (24.51 million tonnes) (3rd AE 2017-18) •Top five exported commodities were marine products (US$ 6.80 billion), basmati rice (US$ 4.71 billion), buffalo meat (US$ 3.59 billion), spices (US$ 3.31 billion) and non-basmati rice (US$ 3.00 billion).
