Fluorine is a chemical element with an atomic number of 9 and atomic mass of 18.998 g/mol. It was discovered by Henri Moissan in 1886 and has a density of 1700 kg/m3 and boiling point of -188°C. Fluorine and its compounds have various industrial uses including plasma etching in semiconductor manufacturing, producing Teflon and refrigerants, and adding fluoride to toothpaste and water supplies to prevent cavities.
