Fluence is an open application platform that provides a P2P application development stack for building decentralized applications (DApps) and hosting their backends. It aims to enable interoperability between APIs, services, and nodes. Fluence also offers "off-chain legos" like consensus, backends, peer-to-peer networking, and more to complement "on-chain legos" from DeFi. Aquamarine is a programming language based on pi-calculus for coordinating network services, organizing execution flows, and connecting to external data sources and blockchains. Fluence is offering bounties for using Aquamarine with existing or new services.

This is the follow up to previous talks on Apache Deep Learning 101 and 201 and 301 at ApacheCon, Dataworks Summit, Strata and other events. As part of this talk, the presenter will walk through using Apache MXNet Pre-Built Models, integrating new open source Deep Learning libraries with Python and Java, as well as running real-time AI streams from edge devices to servers utilizing Apache NiFi and Apache NiFi - MiNiFi. This talk is geared towards Data Engineers interested in the basics of architecting Deep Learning pipelines with open source Apache tools in a Big Data environment. The presenter will also walk through source code examples available in github and run the code live on Apache NiFi and Apache Flink clusters.

Deploying Apache Flume to enable low-latency analytics
The driving question behind redesigns of countless data collection architectures has often been, ?how can we make the data available to our analytical systems faster?? Increasingly, the go-to solution for this data collection problem is Apache Flume. In this talk, architectures and techniques for designing a low-latency Flume-based data collection and delivery system to enable Hadoop-based analytics are explored. Techniques for getting the data into Flume, getting the data onto HDFS and HBase, and making the data available as quickly as possible are discussed. Best practices for scaling up collection, addressing de-duplication, and utilizing a combination streaming/batch model are described in the context of Flume and Hadoop ecosystem components.

Intelligent real time applications are a game changer in any industry. Deep Learning is one of the hottest buzzwords in this area. New technologies like GPUs combined with elastic cloud infrastructure enable the sophisticated usage of artificial neural networks to add business value in real world scenarios. Tech giants use it e.g. for image recognition and speech translation. This session discusses some real-world scenarios from different industries to explain when and how traditional companies can leverage deep learning in real time applications.
This session shows how to deploy Deep Learning models into real time applications to do predictions on new events. Apache Kafka will be used to execute analytic models in a highly scalable and performant way.
The first part introduces the use cases and concepts behind Deep Learning. It discusses how to build Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and Autoencoders leveraging open source frameworks like TensorFlow, DeepLearning4J or H2O.
The second part shows how to deploy the built analytic models to real time applications leveraging Apache Kafka as streaming platform and Apache Kafka’s Streams API to embed the intelligent business logic into any external application or microservice.

Real time cloud native open source streaming of any data to apache solr
Utilizing Apache Pulsar and Apache NiFi we can parse any document in real-time at scale. We receive a lot of documents via cloud storage, email, social channels and internal document stores. We want to make all the content and metadata to Apache Solr for categorization, full text search, optimization and combination with other datastores. We will not only stream documents, but all REST feeds, logs and IoT data. Once data is produced to Pulsar topics it can instantly be ingested to Solr through Pulsar Solr Sink.
Utilizing a number of open source tools, we have created a real-time scalable any document parsing data flow. We use Apache Tika for Document Processing with real-time language detection, natural language processing with Apache OpenNLP, Sentiment Analysis with Stanford CoreNLP, Spacy and TextBlob. We will walk everyone through creating an open source flow of documents utilizing Apache NiFi as our integration engine. We can convert PDF, Excel and Word to HTML and/or text. We can also extract the text to apply sentiment analysis and NLP categorization to generate additional metadata about our documents. We also will extract and parse images that if they contain text we can extract with TensorFlow and Tesseract.

Apache Kafka vs. Integration Middleware (MQ, ETL, ESB)
Learn the differences between an event-driven streaming platform and middleware like MQ, ETL and ESBs – including best practices and anti-patterns, but also how these concepts and tools complement each other in an enterprise architecture.
Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) is still a widely-used pattern to move data between different systems via batch processing. Due to its challenges in today’s world where real time is the new standard, an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is used in many enterprises as integration backbone between any kind of microservice, legacy application or cloud service to move data via SOAP / REST Web Services or other technologies. Stream Processing is often added as its own component in the enterprise architecture for correlation of different events to implement contextual rules and stateful analytics. Using all these components introduces challenges and complexities in development and operations.
This session discusses how teams in different industries solve these challenges by building a native streaming platform from the ground up instead of using ETL and ESB tools in their architecture. This allows to build and deploy independent, mission-critical streaming real time application and microservices. The architecture leverages distributed processing and fault-tolerance with fast failover, no-downtime rolling deployments and the ability to reprocess events, so you can recalculate output when your code changes. Integration and Stream Processing are still key functionality but can be realized in real time natively instead of using additional ETL, ESB or Stream Processing tools.

This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Intelligent real time applications are a game changer in any industry. Deep Learning is one of the hottest buzzwords in this area. New technologies like GPUs combined with elastic cloud infrastructure enable the sophisticated usage of artificial neural networks to add business value in real world scenarios. Tech giants use it e.g. for image recognition and speech translation. This session discusses some real-world scenarios from different industries to explain when and how traditional companies can leverage deep learning in real time applications.
This session shows how to deploy Deep Learning models into real time applications to do predictions on new events. Apache Kafka will be used to execute analytic models in a highly scalable and performant way.
The first part introduces the use cases and concepts behind Deep Learning. It discusses how to build Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and Autoencoders leveraging open source frameworks like TensorFlow, DeepLearning4J or H2O.
The second part shows how to deploy the built analytic models to real time applications leveraging Apache Kafka as streaming platform and Apache Kafka’s Streams API to embed the intelligent business logic into any external application or microservice.

Real time cloud native open source streaming of any data to apache solr
Utilizing Apache Pulsar and Apache NiFi we can parse any document in real-time at scale. We receive a lot of documents via cloud storage, email, social channels and internal document stores. We want to make all the content and metadata to Apache Solr for categorization, full text search, optimization and combination with other datastores. We will not only stream documents, but all REST feeds, logs and IoT data. Once data is produced to Pulsar topics it can instantly be ingested to Solr through Pulsar Solr Sink.
Utilizing a number of open source tools, we have created a real-time scalable any document parsing data flow. We use Apache Tika for Document Processing with real-time language detection, natural language processing with Apache OpenNLP, Sentiment Analysis with Stanford CoreNLP, Spacy and TextBlob. We will walk everyone through creating an open source flow of documents utilizing Apache NiFi as our integration engine. We can convert PDF, Excel and Word to HTML and/or text. We can also extract the text to apply sentiment analysis and NLP categorization to generate additional metadata about our documents. We also will extract and parse images that if they contain text we can extract with TensorFlow and Tesseract.

Apache Kafka vs. Integration Middleware (MQ, ETL, ESB)
Learn the differences between an event-driven streaming platform and middleware like MQ, ETL and ESBs – including best practices and anti-patterns, but also how these concepts and tools complement each other in an enterprise architecture.
Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) is still a widely-used pattern to move data between different systems via batch processing. Due to its challenges in today’s world where real time is the new standard, an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is used in many enterprises as integration backbone between any kind of microservice, legacy application or cloud service to move data via SOAP / REST Web Services or other technologies. Stream Processing is often added as its own component in the enterprise architecture for correlation of different events to implement contextual rules and stateful analytics. Using all these components introduces challenges and complexities in development and operations.
This session discusses how teams in different industries solve these challenges by building a native streaming platform from the ground up instead of using ETL and ESB tools in their architecture. This allows to build and deploy independent, mission-critical streaming real time application and microservices. The architecture leverages distributed processing and fault-tolerance with fast failover, no-downtime rolling deployments and the ability to reprocess events, so you can recalculate output when your code changes. Integration and Stream Processing are still key functionality but can be realized in real time natively instead of using additional ETL, ESB or Stream Processing tools.

In my talk I will discuss and show examples of using Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, Apache MXNet, Apache OpenNLP, Apache NiFi and Apache Spark for deep learning applications. This is the follow up to last years Apache Deep Learning 101 that was done at Dataworks Summit and ApacheCon.
As part of my talk I will walk through using Apache NXNet Pre-Built Models, MXNet's New Model Server with Apache NiFi, executing MXNet with Apache NiFi and running Apache MXNet on edge nodes utilizing Python and Apache MiniFi.
This talk is geared towards Data Engineers interested in the basics of Deep Learning with open source Apache tools in a Big Data environment. I will walk through source code examples available in github and run the code live on an Apache Hadoop / YARN / Apache Spark cluster.
This will be an introduction to executing Deep Learning Pipelines in an Apache Big Data environment.
