Florian Clément was recently appointed project leader at SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire after gaining experience as a project engineer and senior project engineer at SPIE. As a project leader, his duties include ensuring the technical and economic success of projects from design to delivery by acting as a liaison between the customer, principal contractor, and third parties. He is also responsible for supervising teams, suppliers, and subcontractors. The project he is most proud of was new HVAC and smoke extraction works for a 1,000 square meter data center, as it was his first project as lead and the team delivered on tight deadlines while achieving quality work and customer satisfaction within financial targets.

“My job consists in

Tell us about your experience at SPIE.
Florian Clément: In 2012, after obtaining an engineering degree at Arts et Métiers ParisTech
and a Master’s degree in Energy from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, I was hired as a
project engineer by SPIE Île-de-France Nord-Ouest. After three years I became senior project
engineer and then in 2018, project leader. I’m currently working for SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire,
division Tertiaire.
What are your duties?
F.C.: The role of a project leader consists in ensuring the technical and economic success of
the project he’s responsible for, from design to delivery. I mostly manage new works and
renovation projects in HVAC and smoke extraction. My job consists in acting as the link
between the customer, the principal contractor and third parties. I am also responsible for
supervising teams, suppliers and subcontractors so that projects are completed under the
best possible conditions. My job requires open-mindedness, listening skills, tenacity and
team spirit.
What is the project of which you are the proudest?
F.C.: I completed a project of new works in HVAC and smoke extraction for a data centre of
more than 1,000 square metres for a major client. It was the first time I was at the helm.
Thanks to excellent teamwork, we managed to finish the project and respect tight deadlines.
I’m proud of the result in terms of the quality of our work, customer satisfaction and by
achieving our financial targets.
