The flooding in Bangkok in 2011 was severe, forcing the student and their family to evacuate to multiple locations in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Kanchanaburi as the waters rose. While displaced, the student continued their online studies and learned about the local history and cultures. They witnessed the extensive damage caused by flooding in other affected countries like Cambodia. Upon returning to Thailand, the student learned that many people lost their homes and had difficulties accessing clean water and food. The floods in Thailand in 2011 caused massive damage, with over 373 deaths and 9.5 million people affected at a cost of $6 billion.
