This document provides an overview of a FLIR GasFindIR forward-looking infrared camera. It describes how the camera detects different temperatures and heat signatures using infrared energy. It can detect gases like propane, methane, and ethane that absorb infrared wavelengths between 3.3-3.4 micrometers. The camera sees gas clouds by the temperature or movement difference from the background. It has rainbow and iron bow color palettes and should not be used in rain or fog due to background distortion. Contact information is provided for video thermographers in different NJ field offices.
