In this presentation you’ll discover the evolution of event driven architecture, from a central event emitter or a publisher/subscribe system, currently used in several JavaScript libraries and framework, to channels communication offered by CSP (Communicating Sequential Processes).
CSP is a technique used in the core.async library of Clojure and in GO with the GO routines that handle the async and parallel processes.
Generators is a new ECMAScript 6 feature which enables you to implement this technique perfectly.
Last but not least, CSP will enable you creating a better objects encapsulation, facilitating composition over inheritance and improving the code quality.
Cycle.js is a reactive framework that is approaching web apps in a different way from other frameworks. Luca will give a brief introduction to reactive programming concepts in Cycle.js and present an existing example made with Model-View-Intent architecture, the main way to approach this elegant and interesting fractal framework.

"Data Science as a Commodity: Use MADlib, R, & other OSS Tools for Data Science!"
As the need for data science as a key differentiator grows in all industries, from large corporations to startups, the need to get to results quickly is enabled by sharing ideas and methods in the community. The data science team at Pivotal leverages and contributes to this community of publicly available and open source technologies as part of their practice. We will share the resources we use by highlighting specific toolkits for building models (e.g. MADlib, R) and visualization (e.g. Gephi and Circos) along with their benefits and limitations by sharing examples from Pivotal's data science engagements. At the end of this session we hope to have answered the questions: Where can I get started with Data Science? Which toolkit is most appropriate for building a model with my dataset? How can I visualize my results to have the greatest impact?
Bio: Sarah Aerni is a member of the Pivotal Data Science team with a focus on healthcare and life science. She has a background in the field of Bioinformatics, developing tools to help biomedical researchers understand their data. She holds a B.S. In Biology with a specialization in Bioinformatics and minor in French Literature from UCSD, and an M.S. and Ph.D in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford University. During her time as a researcher she focused on the interface between machine learning and biology, building computational models enabling research for a broad range of fields in biomedicine. She also co-founded a start-up providing informatics services to researchers and small companies. At Pivotal she works with customers in life science and healthcare building models to derive insight and business value from their data.

Flash and Flex in an HTML5 / App Store WorldEffectiveUI

Designing and Executing Multimodal Interfaces for the Web based on State Char...Sebastian Feuerstack
Our daily life is full of activities: working, cooking, cleaning, driving are just some of them. While performing these activities our communicating capabilities are limited since most of our senses are blocked by the main activity. Thus we cannot benefit from accessing the computer or using our hands and eyes for driving or our voice for talking to other people. In this paper we invest into enabling and designing human-computer interaction in situations where common modes of communication fail. Therefore we allow controlling an interface just by using head movements and propose a model-based interface design that enables to design and implement such interactions. As a proof of concept we explain our approach based on a natural interface for a musician that we have implemented. It enables to turn music sheets just by head movements.
A presentation I delivered to the Richmond JUG on the evolution of HTML through XHTML to HTML5 and some of the technologies that support implementation now, before a specification is reached by the WHATWG/W3C
Programming on the Android mobile platform is, generally-speaking, a Java-based affair. This talk introduces the Scripting Layer for Android(SL4A) project by Damon Kohler and the Python for Android(Py4A) project, both of which work together to provide a Python interpreter environment for the Android platform. I will talk about the history, background and architecture and design of these projects, the current status, and what to expect in the near future. There will be a demo in this talk, which is inspired by the Cellbots project. In this demo, I show how a robot based on the Arduino open source hardware platform can be manipulated using the an Android mobile phone, and the open source projects discussed during the talk.
What you should think about putting in webops dashboards. There's a lot of discussion that isn't annotated in the slide stack -- so you're missing a lot without audio.
Mvi an architecture for reactive programmingluca mezzalira
Reactive programming will be the next hot topic of the decade. Understanding how this paradigm works and when to use it will greatly benefit your asynchronous applications. Model-View-Intent (MVI) is a new architecture made for reactive programming leveraging the power and flexibility of observables to empower you to create solid and well-encapsulated architectures.
Luca Mezzalira explores reactive programming and explains how you can structure an application in pure reactive programming using Cycle.js, React, and hyperscript. Luca also demonstrates how MVI architecture helps to structure your frontend reactive applications using Cycle.JS and React or hyperscript for rendering your views.

Slack (or Teams) Automation for Bonterra Impact Management (fka Social Soluti...Jeffrey Haguewood
Sidekick Solutions uses Bonterra Impact Management (fka Social Solutions Apricot) and automation solutions to integrate data for business workflows.
We believe integration and automation are essential to user experience and the promise of efficient work through technology. Automation is the critical ingredient to realizing that full vision. We develop integration products and services for Bonterra Case Management software to support the deployment of automations for a variety of use cases.
This video focuses on the notifications, alerts, and approval requests using Slack for Bonterra Impact Management. The solutions covered in this webinar can also be deployed for Microsoft Teams.

The Art of the Pitch: WordPress Relationships and SalesLaura Byrne
Clients don’t know what they don’t know. What web solutions are right for them? How does WordPress come into the picture? How do you make sure you understand scope and timeline? What do you do if sometime changes?
All these questions and more will be explored as we talk about matching clients’ needs with what your agency offers without pulling teeth or pulling your hair out. Practical tips, and strategies for successful relationship building that leads to closing the deal.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
