This story is about two friends who get into an argument during a walk through the desert. One friend hits the other in the face. Later, when they come across an oasis, the friend who was hit falls in the mud and nearly drowns, but the other friend saves him. They each write messages in the sand and on a stone to remember the times their friend hurt and helped them. They realize it's important to write down pains that pass in the sand and engraving lasting good experiences in stone.
