3. Leader: Let us pray that faith, hope and love be strengthened in us this first week of Advent: Lighting of the First Candle of Advent Let us pray together: All: Come, Lord Jesus! Open our hearts and our minds to all that you give us and teach us during these days of Advent.

4. Scripture Message Our Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly and sisterly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, and keep on serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, be patient when hard things come your way, and be faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

5. Our Response All: May this word from God be in our minds and hearts as we celebrate this first week of Advent. Come, Lord Jesus! Help us to love. Amen.
