Pre Fall 2016 Moshchino
For my final Project on the Fall 2016 trends and designer I have chosen
Moshchino. I did not know much about this design before picking this fashion house
but here is what I learned about them. Moschino is an Italian luxury fashion
But here is what I learned about them: Moshchino is an Italian Luxury fashion house,
who specializes in ready-to-wear, leather, leather garments and fashion accessories
such as shoes, luggage, perfume to name a few. Moschino was founded in1983 by
Franco Moschino. Franco Moschino and his fashion label became famous for his
innovative, colorful and sometimes eccentric fashion designs and also for his
criticisms of the fashion industry and his social awareness campaigns during the
early 1990s. Franco Moschino passed away at the age of 44 on September 18, 1994,
from cardiac arrest due to complications from an abdominal tumor. After Moschino's

2. untimely passing, Rossella Jardini, Francos former assistant, became the Moschino
fashion house’s creative director from 1994- 2013. Following Rossella Jardini in
October 1993
Jeremy Scott became Moschino's creative director, and then showed his first
Moschino collection in Fall 2014. Also the brand is a part of the Aeffe fashion group
and has been since 1999.
Many of the Pre Fall 2016 trends that I noticed among many of the designers
and fashion houses included: Many long skirts, pantsuits, long dresses, turtlenecks,
jackets, and capes. These garments were very casual, with layered items or baggy
layers, they were also loose fitting and not very structured but the waist and
Shoulders were accented. The fabrics that I noticed for the fall season were furs,
lace, silks, and velvet, Moshchino had denim, jersey knit sweaters and nylon. Also
this season is a season of bold colors and prints, like we can see in Moshchinos
garments and I’ve noticed some neutral tones as well.

3. I chose Moschino because I fell in love with the Pre-Fall 2016 outfits because
they are very reminiscent of Pop Art and Andy Warhol’s artwork from the 1960’s.
These ensembles are targeted towards a more edgy fashion consumer like myself.
For the ensemble that I selected we can see that it consists of a form fitting
shoulder to mid thigh dress covered in pop art style patches, brightly colored nylon
stocking and a jacket made out of what appears to be nylon and knit jersey
material, also the jacket appears to have been screen printed, to complete the outfit
the model is wearing black combat style type boots. The fabrics that I picked to
construct a less expensive version of this ensemble were pro satin and a
cotton/polyester blend for the nylon jacket, a cotton/ cashmere blend for the dress,
and nylon for the hosiery. For the Pro-satin the fiber content is polyester and it is a
filament yarn type made with a satin weave, and the yarn/ stitches per inch were 92
warps x 80 picks per inch. The fabric was then piece dyed for the final product. Also
we see that the finish of the fabric is shiny due to the way it was weaved, and like I
said before the end use for this fabric would be for the Moshchino jacket. The next

4. fabric I picked for the jacket was a cotton/polyester blend, again the yarn type is a
filament, the weave/knit type is a plain weave a very simple weave and the yarn/
stitches per inch were 48 whales x 40 courses per inch. The method of coloration is
piece dyed, the finish of the fabric is soft/medium and it is brushed to give it a
suede look. The end use is for the jacket like I mentioned before. The 3rd fabric that
I chose for this ensemble was a cotton/cashmere blend mainly consisting of cotton
for the shoulder to mid thigh length dress, the yarn type for this fabric is spun, the
weave/knit type is a plain weave again a very simple cost effective weave. The yarn/
stitches per inch were 40 whales x 36 courses per inch. The method of coloration is
piece dyed, instead of mass producing patches for adorn the garment for a
inexpensive option the garment can be wet screen printed with the design of the
patches consisting in 5 screens for the different colors of the crosses and 1 screen
for the dark shading of the patches directly screen printed on top of the first 5
screens. The finish of the fabric is soft and the end use again is for dresses in this
instance but you could also use it for sweaters. My 4th and final fabric that I chose
was nylon for the hosiery the model wore to complete the garment. The fiber

5. content for the nylons is polyester and the yarn type is a filament and the
weave/knit type is a plain knit which gives you the most amount of stretch. The
yarn/stitches per inch is 60 whales x 40 courses per inch. The method of coloration
for the garment is piece dyed and the finish of the fabric is soft. The end uses for
this fabric is mainly hosiery. I chose these fabrics because they are moderately priced
and can mimic the same look but at a much more consumer friendly affordable
price point, also instead of using patches and going with using screen printing you
can obtain the same type of result without breaking a garment design budget.
For this project I decided on a fashion house that I didn’t know too much
about and because of this I was pleasantly surprised and excited about choosing
fabrics and finishes to remake the same outfits in a less expensive manner. Below
