Bike Master Plan
"Hold on to your hats, folks, we're actually removing a lane for a car — in
favor of a bike lane — in Los Angeles," City Councilman Ed Reyes.
9. Recommendations
• Ensuring that the traffic signals work efficiently and last long enough to let pedestrians
cross the road. Customizing the length of traffic signals including the cross-walk options
based on concentration of traffic and severity of accidents
• Investigate areas with high frequency of bicycle collisions and to ensure that there are
proper bike lanes with clear signs such as “Wrong Way” and other warning signs
• Implementing mandatory road-safety education in schools and colleges
• Last, but not the least – Collecting data from cyclists, tax-drivers and pedestrians to
understand different perspectives and the challenges involved
