FINAL FANTASY - I
It is the first game in Square’s Final fantasy series. It is originally released by
Square Enix in 1987. It is the one of the most successful role-playing game on the Nintendo
Entertainment System. This game consists of 4 Light Warriors & each one of them possess the
power of one of the world’s 4 elemental orbs, i.e. Earth, Fire, Water & Wind. It means that the 4
light warriors have their unique power & different from each other, i.e. if one possess fire, then
other will possess water. The characters in this game casts magic which is of 2 types White &
Black. White Magic is used for healing character & Black Magic is used for destroying the
character. The fight between characters takes place in combat style which is menu-based system,
the player selects action from the list of options which is as follows :-

• (i) Fight  In this option, the character hits the opponent by kick or punch.

• (ii) Magic  In this option, the character casts magic like – Fire, Wind for destroying opponent
& antidote for curing himself from poison which was created by opponent.

• (iii) Item  In this option, the character uses item like Elixir for getting HP (Health Point) &
MP (Magic Point). HP refers to the health of a character whereas MP refers to the health of
magic power. If HP gets 0, then character would die & if MP gets 0, then character would not be
able to cast magic.

COMBAT MODE IN FINAL FANTASY- I

FINAL FANTASY - II
It is the second game in Square’s Final fantasy series. It is originally released by
Square Enix in 1988. It is one of the successful role-playing game on the Nintendo
entertainment System. This game consists of four youths whose parents were killed
during an army war in Palamecia. Three of them join a rebellion against the empire who
killed their parents. After the empire was killed, the trio come to know that the four
youths were now Dark Knight. The empire reappears as a Demon and prepares to destroy
the world. Thus the four Dark Knights agree to defeat him & save the world. Final
Fantasy – II has introduced new characters like – Chocobos. Chocobos are the mascots of
Final Fantasy II which is used to carry the characters form one place to another at
greater speed. The name of the main four characters are :-

(i) Firion , a citizen of country Fynn

(ii) Maria, a soft-spoken archer & enemy of empire

(iii) Guy, a monk who communicates with animals

(iv) Leon, a conflicted Dark Knight.

COMBAT MODE IN FINAL FANTASY - II

FINAL FANTASY - III
It is the THIRD game in Square’s Final fantasy series. It is originally released by Square Enix in
1990. It is one of the successful role-playing game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. This
game consists of four orphaned youth which were drawn to the crystal of light. The crystals
gave them the power of four elements, i.e. Earth, Fire, Water & Wind. In this way, the four
youths got the powers which were different form each other, i.e. if one possess fire then other
possess wind. This game includes extra features like –The Job System. In Job System, each
character has got profession in one or more than one kind of job like – In thief Job System, a
character got an ability to steal opponent’s weapon. New weapons & items are added on this
Game & even new magic spells. The characters can also change their jobs. The main characters
of this game are :-

(i) Luneth  A symbol of courage. He is an orphan boy who lives in a village.

(ii) Arc  A symbol of kindness. He is Luneth’s childhood best friend & a intelligent man.

(iii) Refia  A symbol of affection. She is a girl who was born in the village of Kazus.

(iv) Ingus  A symbol of determination. He is a loyal soldier serving the King of Sasune.

FINAL FANTASY - IV
It is the FOURTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square Enix
in 1991. It is one of the successful role-playing game on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
This game introduces a new type of battle system which is named as “Active Time Battle”. In
this game, the characters are already locked into a class. Thus each character has its own class
& can’t change it. The character can boost up their class abilities by gaining experience points.
This game consists of following characters :-

(i) Cecil Harvey  The main character of the game. He is a Dark Knight & the captain of the Red Wings. Golbez
is the brother of Cecil. After some time, Cecil turns into Paladin & now he can use White Magic.

(ii) Rydia -> A young girl who uses summon magic (i.e. she can call summons to destroy enemy). She lives in the
village of Mist
.
(iii) Tellah  A legendary sage of Mysidia.

(iv) Rosa Farrell  She is a white mage/archer & Cecil’s love
.
(v) Prince Edward  He is a bard. A Bard is having ability to sleep monsters by singing melodious songs
.
(vi) Palom & Porom  Palom & Porom are the twin brother & sister respectively. Palom is master in Black Magic
while Porom is master in White Magic.

(vii) Master Cid  Master of airships

(viii) Ninja Edge  He is the prince of Elbana & a trained ninja warrior.

(ix) Kain Highwind  He is the best friend of Cecil.

(x) Zemus  The main villain (antagonist) of the game. He uses Golbez to achieve his aim of controlling the world.

Active Time Battle in Final Fantasy - IV

FINAL FANTASY - V
It is the FIFTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square Enix in
1992. It is one of the successful role-playing game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Final
Fantasy V is the second game to use Active Time Battle (ATB) system, in which time flows for
both the player & enemy during the combat. In Final Fantasy V, the player can see which
playable character’s turn is next in battle in the form of a time gauge (OR ATB BAR) which fills
according to the character’s speed. This game consists of 5 characters :-

(i) Bartz Klauser  He is a traveler who gets involved in the story about the meteor strike.

(ii) Lenna Charlotte Tycoon  She is the princess of tycoon who follows her father to investigate
Wind Shrine’s Crystal.

(iii) Galuf Doe  He is a mysterious old man who was discovered near the site of meteorite strike.

(iv) Faris Scherwiz  She is the private captain who captures Bartz, Lenna & Galuf when they try to
steal her ship. After moments, they come to know that Faris is the princess of Sarisa Scherwill
Tycoon & sister of Lenna.

(v) Krile Mayer Baldesion  She is the grand-daughter of Galuf.

(vi) Gilgamesh  He is the recurring mini villain of this game.

(vii) Ex-Death  Main villain of this game.

FANTASY - V

FINAL FANTASY - VI
It is the SIXTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square Enix in
1994. It is one of the successful role-playing game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. The
game’s story mainly focuses on the fantasy world with the technology level. Combat in Final
Fantasy VI is menu-based, in which player selects an action from the list of options such as –
Fight, Magic (An option for casting magic like – Fire, Ice, Wind, etc.) & Item (like – potions to
cure someone). This game also uses the ATB mode. This game introduces the powerful attack
substitution which appears when the health of the character is low. In this, the character uses
powerful attacks to defeat opponents either by using fight mode or magic mode. This game
Consists of fourteen playable characters :-

(i) Terra Branford  She is a reserved half-human i.e. half-esper girl who spend most of her
time as a slave to the Empire & half-human girl.

(ii) Locke Coke  He is a treasure hunter and rebel sympathizer with a powerful impulse to
protect women.

(iii) Celes Chere  She is a former general of the empire.

(iv) Edgar Figaro  He is the king of Figaro.

(v) Sabin Rene Figaro  He is the Edgar’s brother.

(vi) Cyan Garamonde  He is a loyal knight of kingdom of Doma.

(vii) Setzer Gabbiani  He is a habitual gambler.

(viii) Shadow  He is a ninja mercenary, who offers his service to both the Empire and the Returners.

(ix) Relm Arrowny  She is a young but tough artistic girl with magical powers.

(x) Strago Magus  Relm’s elderly grandfather & a Blue Mage.

(xi) Gau  He is a feral child who live in the harsh wilderness known as the Veldt.

(xii) Mog  A moogle from the mines of Narshe.

Active Time Battle in Final Fantasy - VI

FINAL FANTASY - VII
It is the SEVENTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square
Enix in 1997 for PlayStation & 1998 or MS Windows based computers. This game is the first in
The series to use 3D computer graphics. This game uses the Active Time Battle (ATB) system
designed by Hiroyuki Ito, first featured in Final Fantasy IV. Unlike previous games in the
series, which allow 4-5 playable characters to participate in battle, Final Fantasy VII only allows
three characters to be in the party at any time. This game consists of nine playable characters :

(i) Cloud Strife  He is an unsociable mercenary who claims to be a former 1st Class member of Shinra’s
Soldier unit.

(ii) Barret Wallace  He is the leader of the anti-Shinra rebel group AVALANCHE.

(iii) Tifa Lockhart  She is a martial artist and childhood friend of Cloud.

(iv) Aerith Gainsborough  She is a flower merchant who has been pursued by Shinra’s special operations unit,
the Turks, since childhood.

(v) Red XIII  A wise lion-like creature who was experimented on by Shinra’s scientists.

(vi) Cait Sith  A fortune-telling robotic cat who rides an animated moogle doll.

(vii) Cid Highwind  He is a pilot.

(viii) Yuffie Kisaragi  She is a young thief and a skillful ninja.

(ix) Vincent Valentine  He is a former member of Shinra’s Turks unit.

(x) Sephiroth  The game’s main antagonist. He is a former member of Shinra’s Soldier unit.

FINAL FANTASY - VIII
It is the EIGHTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series.. It is originally released by Square Enix
In 1999 for PlayStation & 2000 for Windows based Personal Computers. Final Fantasy VIII uses
a battle system based on summon-able monsters called "Guardian Forces", abbreviated in game
as "GF." Assigning ("junctioning") a GF onto a character allows the player to use battle commands
beyond Attack with the main weapon, such as Magic, GF (to summon the junctioned GF and have
it perform an action), and Item. This game consists of 6 characters :-

(i) Squall Leonhart  He is a loner who keeps his focus on his duty to avoid vulnerability. He is
also a student of military academy known as Balamb Garden who is training to become
“See D”, a mercenary paid by the academy.

(ii) Rinoa Heartily  She is an outspoken and passionate young woman who follows her heart in
all situations.

(iii) Quistis Trepe  She is an instructor with a serious, patient attitude.

(iv) Zell Dincht  He is a martial artist with a passion for hot dogs.

(v) Selphie Tilmitt  She is a cheerful girl who loves train.

(vi) Irvine Kinneas  He is a sharp shooter and consummate lady's man

Active Time Battle In Final Fantasy -
VIIII

FINAL FANTASY - IX
It is the NINTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square Enix in
2000. Final Fantasy IX offers a new approach to town exploration with Active Time
Events(ATE), which provide character development, special items and prompts for key story-
altering decisions. At specific points, the player may view events that are occurring
simultaneously. ATE is occasionally used to simultaneously control two teams when the party is
divided to solve puzzles and navigate mazes. The game consists of eight characters :-

(i) Zibane Tribal  He is the main protagonist & main member of a group of bandits called Tantalus.

(ii) Garnet til Alexandros XVII  She is the female protagonist & princess of Alexandria.

(iii) Vivi Orunitia  A young Black Mage & having kind nature.

(iv) Adelbert Steiner  He is the noble knight of Alexandria & captain of the knights of Pluto.

(v) Freya Crescent  She is a dragon knight who searches for her love, Sir Fratley.

(vi) Quina Quen  A Qu Blue Mage who joins the adventure to experience cuisine from around the
world.

(vii) Eiko Carol  She is a six-year old girl living in Madain Sari, the lost village of the eidolon
summoners, and along with Garnet.

(viii) Amarant Coral  A Monk and a bounty hunter.

ACTIVE TIME BATTLE IN FINAL FANTASY -
IX

FINAL FANTASY - X
It is the TENTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square Enix in 2001. The game marks
the Final Fantasy series' transition from entirely pre-rendered backdrops to fully three-dimensional areas, and is the only
first in the series to feature voice acting. Final Fantasy X replaces the Active Time Battle (ATB) system with the
"Conditional Turn-Based Battle" (CTB) System, and uses a new leveling system called the "Sphere Grid". The Game consists
of 7 characters :-

• Tidus is the main protagonist, a rising blitzball player from Zanarkand who is sent to Spira following Sin's
destruction of his hometown. With seemingly no way of knowing what has happened to him, he joins Yuna on
her pilgrimage in order to learn about the conflict he has been dragged into.

• Yuna is the main female protagonist, a summoner who is on a pilgrimage to defeat Sin, accompanied by her
guardians. She is armed with great power and determination as she learns how she can save the tortured
world.

• Auron is a mysterious man who watches out for Tidus and Yuna. He has been hailed as a legendary guardian,
due to accompanying Braska on his pilgrimage ten years ago. However, his seemingly cynical nature might
just hide the truth he witnessed then.

• Kimahri is a Ronso, the only non-human member of the party, who befriended and guarded Yuna when she
was a child. Though disgraced by his tribe, Kimahri wishes for nothing more than to keep Yuna safe.

• Wakka is one of Yuna's childhood friends from Besaid. As captain of the infamously-pathetic Besaid
Aurochs, he has resolved to retire from blitzball and join Yuna on her pilgrimage, bringing along his good-
willed cheer.

• Lulu is one of Yuna's childhood friends from Besaid. A black mage who had accompanied summoners on their
failed pilgrimages, she is knowledgeable of the world of Spira, and her frequency to scold others only shows
how much she is concerned for her companions' safety.

• Rikku is a spunky Al Bhed girl, and the first person Tidus encounters upon arriving in Spira. As Yuna's
cousin, she, too, wants to protect her, although her means of doing so sometimes conflict with the goals of
rest of the party.

FINAL FANTASY - XI
It is the ELEVENTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square
Enix in 2002 for PlayStations & Microsoft-Based Personal Computers. The game consists of
Following races :-
• Hume
The Humes built their city, the Republic of Bastok, in the wastes of Gustaberg. They posses near-equal abilities in all
fields, and are physically-basic compared to other races. It is the Humes' adaptability that has spread them
throughout the lands, making them the most numerous of the five races. Humes are said to suffer from the sin of
Apathy.

• Galka
The most imposing of all the races, the Galka possess towering, bulky physiques. Their home city was destroyed
hundreds of years ago by the Anticans, making the Galkan people refugees. Many have since settled in Bastok with the
Humes; however, they are regarded as an underclass. Galkas are unique from other races in that they are all male and
reproduce through reincarnation. They posses high Vitality and HP, but have the lowest MP of the five races. They
are said to suffer from the sin of Rage.

• Elvaan
Native to The Kingdom of San d'Oria, the Elvaan are characterized by their tall, slender figures and large, pointed
ears. Many Elvaan are deeply religious, possessing an unbreakable faith that is reflected in their everyday life. They
are blessed with high Strength and Mind; however, also possessing low Intelligence. The Elvaan are said to suffer
from the sin of Arrogance.

• Mithra
The cat-like race of Mithras posses a gender imbalance, with a high ratio of females to males. As such, only women are
allowed away from the safety of their homeland to adventure around Vana'diel. They possess excellent Agility and
Dexterity. Mithras are said to suffer from the sin of Envy.

• Tarutaru
The tiny Tarutarus' age is not reflected in their size. Residing in the Federation of Windurst, the Tarutaru are
famed for their discovery and development of magic, which they excel at, thanks to their high Intelligence. However,
the small physique of a Taru means they have the lowest Strength compared to other races. Tarutaru are said to
suffer from the sin of Cowardice.

BATTLE SCENE OF FINAL FANTASY - XI

FINAL FANTASY - XII
It is the ELEVENTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square
Enix in 2006. Unlike the previous single player Final Fantasy games which used a turn-based
system, battles in Final Fantasy XII occur in the open field. However, menus are still used to
issue commands to the characters. A new Battle System called "Active Dimension Battle“ (ADB)
is introduced which allows the player to battle in the overworld instead of in a separate battle
Screen. This game consists of six playable characters :-

(i) Vaan :- He is an energetic orphan of Rabanastre who dreams of becoming a sky pirate.

(ii) Ashe :- She is a determined princess of Dalmasca who lost her father and husband in the
Archadian invasion.

(iii) Basch  He is a disgraced knight of Dalmasca charged with treason for slaying the king.

(iv) Balthier  He is a gentlemanly sky pirate who pilots the airship.

(v) Fran  She is Balthier’s partner and a Viera exile whose knowledge extends to legends and
myths.

(vi) Penelo  She is Vaan’s childhood friend who accompanies him on journey to keep an eye on
him.

FANTASY - XII

FINAL FANTASY - XIII
It is the THIRTEENTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square
Enix in 2009 in Japan & 2010 in North America. The main characters of this game are :-

(i) Lightning  She is the main protagonist of the game, a former soldier and older sister to
Serah

(ii) Snow Villers  He is Serah’s fiancee and leader of NORA, a paramilitary group.

(iii) Oerba Dia Vanille  She is the game’s narrator and an exile who is later revealed to be l’Cie
from Pulse.

(iv) Sazh Katzroy  He is a civilian pilot and father to a young boy whose name is Dajh.

(v) Hope Estheim  He is a young boy who is struggling within the relationships he shares with
his parents.

(vi) Oerba Yun Fang  She is a l’Cie from Pulse who is working with the Sanctum’s Cavalry
branch.

ACTIVE TIME BATTLE IN FINAL
FANTASY - XIII

FINAL FANTASY - XIV
It is the FOURTEENTH game in Square’s Final Fantasy series. It is originally released by Square
Enix in 2011. This game consists of five races :-

Hyur (ヒューラン, Hyūran) A race that is more or less human. They are divided into the Midlanders and the
Highlanders. The Midlanders place a heavy emphasis on education, and are generally considered to be the
most cultured people of the world. Physically larger and bulkier than their Midlander cousins, the
Highlanders once governed the grand city-state of Ala Mhigo, which was invaded and razed by the Garlean
Empire. With their homeland destroyed and their numbers decimated, the Highlanders now eke out their
existence as mercenaries. While the Midlander clan offers both sexes as playable characters, only males of
the Highlander clan are playable, but females are planned to be released along side the 2.0 version of the
game. Hyur are similar to the Humes from XI.
Elezen (エレゼン, Erezen) An elf-like race and the original inhabitants of Eorzea. They are divided into the
Wildwood and the Duskwight Elezen. The Wildwood live in the forests and possess a keen sense of sight – a
contributing factor in their unparalleled expertise as archers. The Duskwight are a reclusive clan who dwell
in caves and caverns, which has given them a heightened sense of hearing. The two clans seem to dislike each
other immensely. Elezen are similar to the Elvaan from XI.
Lalafell (ララフェル, Raraferu) Physically diminutive humanoids of high agility and intelligence from the
southern regions. They are divided into the Plainsfolk and the Dunesfolk. The Plainsfolk are a very earthy
clan who thrive on the prairies. The Dunesfolk literally live on the backs of enormous beasts of burden and
are known for wearing gemstones in their foreheads that signify their zodiacal signs. Lalafell are similar to
the Tarutaru from XI.
Roegadyn (ルガディン, Rugadin) A physically large and muscular race who hail from the northern regions. They
are divided into the Sea Wolves and the Hellsguard. The Sea Wolves were once a band of fearsome pirates,
but have since largely abandoned that lifestyle; presently they are normally employed as sailors or naval
mercenaries. The Hellsguard dwell in a volcanic region and are said to be masters of the magical arts,
guarding the gateway to Hell itself. Currently, only male Roegadyn are playable, but females are planned to
be released along side the 2.0 version of the game. Roegadyn are similar to the Galka from XI.
Miqo'te (ミコッテ, Mikotte)  Cat-like humanoids who are divided into two religious sects: the Seekers of the
Sun, who are dedicated to the sun goddess Azeyma the Warden, and the nocturnal Keepers of the Moon,
who are dedicated to the moon goddess Menphina the Lover. Player character Miqo'te are not limited to the
two aforementioned goddesses, however; they may follow any deity of their choosing. Currently, only female
Miqo'te are playable, but males are planned to be released alongside the 2.0 version of the game. Miqo'te
are similar to the Mithra from XI.
