-We start off with one of us saying, “Good morning my fellow students blah blah” and a brief introduction to the topic.-The next speaker is to be introduced by the current speaker after they are done with their explanation. The main aim of this particular topic is to prove why understanding the importance of intercultural communication should be taken under serious consideration, both socially and economically.(Here, “economically” is justified in terms of profitability.)
(after reading from slide) For example: Picture yourself as a hardcore, patriotic Bangladeshi, feeling so proud of your own country’s heritage that you don’t care to pay any heed to even the positive values of Western cultures. You have voluntarily shunned their moral/ethical values as well as their music, their fashion, their concepts, their political and religious ideologies, etc., be it through your own choice, or the choices of those who surround you. Ask yourself this question:How would you feel if you saw a group of Germans look down upon your fellow countrymen as ethnocentric Nationalists, as opposed to them looking up at your brothers and sisters as friends? The next speaker is to be introduced by the current speaker after they are done with their explanation.

Working in these companies means working with faces and races from all over the globe, while acknowledging both cultural differences and similarities with politeness and respect. The main theme of the joke in this picture lies within the boy’s sarcastic expression, which clearly indicates his confusion and amusement as to why these “foreigners” would waste their time “Buying Water” instead of collecting water from puddles and raindrops in bottles, which is considered normal on his side of the globe; where torrential rains are seen in the form of a blessing after a long drought. The original picture itself shows how the woman’s interest in other cultures obviously helped her understand the boy’s situation, even though the difference between their cultures is miles apart.
The Disadvantages of not having enough understanding of cultural values can lead to uncalled for problems in business and also when interacting with people of different cultures. With less understanding of the difference between our cultures and of others will give rise to more miscommunication. What you wanted to say can be portrayed as what you never wanted to say.We would like to end this with a clip extracted from a hsbc commercial that shows a similar case of miscommunication
