The global profile of poverty has been predominantly rural, young, and undereducated. More than 40 percent of the global poor live in economies affected by fragility, conflict, and violence, and that number is expected to rise to 67 percent in the next decade. Half of the poor are children. Women represent majority of the poor in most regions and among some age groups. About 70 percent of the global poor aged 15 and over have no schooling or only some basic education. Youth Employment
Covenant House Texas’ mission is to offer homeless
and runaway youth a safe haven from the dangers of
street life and abuse, as well as provide them with the
necessary skills, training and emotional support to
choose positive life alternatives and develop into
self-sufficient adults.
Your business could be part of fulfilling our mission. By
becoming a CHT Job Partner, your company will play
a role in ensuring these youth are on the right track
to becoming self-sustaining members of the Houston
community.
Youth in the CHT program receive the necessary
education, support and training to develop their skills
and become valuable resources to themselves and
their employers.
Employment preparation training classes are provided
to assistyouth in developing the skills needed to secure
employment. Interviewing skills, resume writing,
appropriate dress, work place ettiquette and many
other lessons are offered daily. Also, we ensure our
residents have proper legal status, a photo ID, and a
Social Security card.

Covenant House Texas partners with local businesses to stay abreast
of local employment needs and strives to fill those needs with qualified
individuals from CHT.
A partnership is simple. Essentially all your company needs to do is
maintain open communications with CHT’s Job Developer and keep
us updated on current openings suitable for our youth. Employers can
further assist CHT by conducting and sharing periodic performance
reviews.
By hiring CHTyouth, your company will not only meet your employment
needs, but also be an integral part in helping a young person turn their
life around. The stability of employment is often just what our youth
need to make something of themselves and to begin down the path of
self sufficiency.
