and niche audiences watch action
films. So a lot of different types of
people watch action.
There is a core target audience who will always
watch an action film. This is typically young
adult males, with an interest in action, thrills
and excitement.
They usually go see these films with other
males as action films contain thing that are
stereotypically “masculine”. This includes
things like explosions, car chases, gun fights
etc.
Most characters in an action film are
male which would attract a male
audience. You tend to get a variety of
ethnic backgrounds in an action film.
Action films are an adrenaline rush for
some people. People who wish to feel
and see what the protagonist has to go
through on screen.

4. Comedy Films
The target audience of comedy films depends on the actual
content of the film as some children’s films are PG’s or U’s and
have comical scenes in which would make it comedy genre.
The films would appeal to young children and parents as they
are often a family film.
Although the audience would be completely different for a film
labelled 12 or 15, these movies are more likely to appeal to
people over the labelled age of the film.

5. Horror Films
Horror film age groups are most likely to be 13-25/any
ages about. Horror film viewers are mostly males but
females also watch as well but have a different
response. Its aimed at males and females because
young couples go and watch them together.
Younger males like horror films because they are
thrilling and they find them exciting.

6. Romance Films
Romantic films are usually rated 12 or 15 so the age
range for the viewers would be 12-any age about. As
for gender, mostly the females would enjoy them
rather than males who would be more interested in
action films. Some males may like romantic films
though rather than the stereo typical only girls like
romance films.
Teenage girls are usually the ones to
go see a romantic film as they hope
to have that love one day .

7. Crime Films
Crime films are targeted usually at males
because of the violent scenes throughout
the films. Females could also watch crime
films but may not enjoy them as much as
the steotypical view of a female is liking
romantic films all the time. The age group
for crime films would be 14 and above.

8. Children's
Films
Children’s films are usually aimed at
younger children, 5 and above because
they enjoy the animation and the
unrealistic stories. Films like Happy Feet
are watched by all ages because it is
about something that all ages enjoy,
animals (penguins). This is also true about
Madagascar, which is about lots of
animals who are friends which escape a
zoo and end up on an island. All ages
enjoy watching this film because it has
unlikely friendships in it (lion, giraffe,
hippo and zebra all being friends) and it is
also funny which makes it more enjoyable
for all ages.
