1. Enrique Lomeli<br />Field Lab part 2!<br />1.The Fault that I went out to observe is one of the most, if not the most famous fault in California. It is called the San Andreas Fault. This fault runs from north to south for about 800 miles, which also makes it one of the biggest faults in the western part of the country. This Fault is also considered to be a strike slip fault, meaning that the fault moves from left to right when seismic activity occurs. Here are a few pictures I took while I went on my trip to observe geological environments and the San Andreas Fault.<br />743585846455 <br />2.My first example of a weathering process is mechanical weathering shown by the forces of an organism, which in this case is a tree. As you can see, the roots of this tree have caused the rocks in which it stands to crack and break down. I found this particular form of mechanical weathering process interesting because the evidence is displayed directly and it also stands by the side of a road which makes it look like it will fall down in any moment. My second example of a weathering process is chemical weathering shown in the form of the disintegration of rocks. You could tell that these rocks have been disintegrated because of the rapid weather changes occurring in this area. <br />3505200102870<br />0125095<br />3. The evidence of mass wasting that I documented was landslide which is noticable because of the way that the land has separated through time. This type of mass wasting evidence occured when the material in this land moved through a process known as slump. The evidence of erosion that I documented was that of the hill shown in the second picture. This is caused by the downslope creep of soil which makes the hill lose its land as the edges of it are eroded away.<br />-219075143510<br />52260561595<br />4. The first piece of evidence that I documented for different sedimentary environments is continental. Here I have a picture of a lake in the foothills of Wonder Valley Ranch, in Sanger, CA. The second piece of evidence of a sedimentary environment is marine. Here I have a picture of the deep marine environment in a beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The third and last piece of evidence of a sedimentary environment that I documented is transitional. For the last part of this interesting Field/Lab project I was able to record the practical use of geology in a couple of ways.
