Traditional Asset Managers and Hedge Fund Managers
Operations
Sr. Fixed Income Operations (multi-billion $ AUM manager):
5-8 years buy side or TPA/prime exp, knowledge of clearing systems, US and sovereign gov’t
debt, US and global corporates, repos + management experience
Sr. Collateral Manager (multi-billion $ AUM manager)
5-10 years collateral, management company cash management and overnight funds experience
from buy side only; multi-strat manager with very diverse investments
Fixed Income Reconciliation (multi-billion $ AUM manager):
3-5 years buy side bank debt, mortgages, fixed income exp
Jr. Fixed Income Operations (multi-billion $ AUM manager):
2-3 years buy side or TPA/prime exp, knowledge of clearing systems, US and sovereign gov’t
debt, US and global corporates, repos
Jr. Operations ($200+mm startup multi-strat manager with commitments in billions):
1-2 years buy side or prime experience, diversified product knowledge with initial focus on equity
Risk
Risk Manager ($200+mm startup multi-strat manager with commitments in billions):
5-7 years multi-strat manager + equity trading/risk mgmt experience, #3 in department
Risk Officer ($40 billion diversified traditional manager with multi-billion in alternatives)
5-8 years diversified risk mgmt, broad product expertise across fixed income, equities,
commodities with listed and OTC derivatives on all
Due Diligence
Jr. and Sr. Due Diligence (multi-billion $ AUM manager):
1-3 or 5-10 years due diligence within fixed income universe; senior role may come from
institutional fixed income sales if well-networked within fixed income hedge fund universe
Executive
CAO (multi-billion $ FoF):
10+ years HR experience with hands-on willingness/exp in facilities, office supplies, etc. – literally
everything non-trading/ops/infrastructure in the firm. Benefits, payroll, employee relations and
the occasional server reboot or lightbulb change. Executive level role within a very
entrepreneurial environment.
Finance
Associate Controller (multi-billion $ AUM manager):
10 years experience, 5 in management company, 2-3 in Big 4 Accounting, CPA + management
experience. Multi-strat, diverse investments.
Sr. Fund Accountant:
3-5 years management company experience required, CPA preferred
Accounting Associate (multi-billion $ AUM manager):
2-3 years buy side experience, CPA required
