If this is the past for you, too, you will have experienced the downside of modern distributed and cloud applications, as debugging, troubleshooting, and monitoring is not easily accomplished with traditional approaches.
Within this session, we will explore different possibilities for collecting and analyzing the needed information to solve issues on modern distributed application and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each approach like debugger, log files, performance counter and third party solutions. The focus of this session will be on Developer and DevOps need, as increased release cycles and third party dependency more and more result in the need for troubleshooting also on production system, rather than in an isolated test environment.
This session requires a solid understanding of distributed applications and knowledge of SOA, but most principles also apply to and can be beneficial for more traditional application design approaches. The used code examples are in .NET but the shown principles generally apply to other languages, too, and shown software is often available for a variety of environments.

Tungsten Use Case: How Gittigidiyor (a subsidiary of eBay) Replicates Data In...
Gittigidiyor, a subsidiary of eBay, needed to replicate data in real time from their MySQL database to an Oracle database to power their data warehouse. Continuent Tungsten was used to provide heterogeneous replication between the databases. The schema was translated from MySQL to Oracle using ddlscan. Initial data was exported and loaded into Oracle using parallel apply. Ongoing real-time replication now occurs between MySQL and Oracle using Tungsten Replicator with custom filters to handle data type translations.

Designing for Testability - Rohit Nayak
In the semiconductor industry, Design For Testability (DFT) is an essential part of the architecture and design of components. Software designers on the other hand do not pay much (if any) attention to the testing needs of their code.
In this talk we review some core DFT principles like Built-In Self Test, Test Point Insertion, Fault Modeling and Fault Simulation and map them to software testing. Examples of using DFT to create testable software will be given. DFT fits in especially well with the increasing use of Test Automation and Agile Methodologies.
We hope this talk will empower test leads and engineers with knowledge they can use to get their developer counterparts to modify the application-under-test to significantly increase automation, enhance test coverage, run tests faster and reduce the costs of testing.

It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to the 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up, scheduled for 6th June 2024. This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
