This document discusses VMFIVE's playable advertising solution which allows users to try mobile apps and games through an interactive demo without downloading. It has seen conversion rates increase 50-300% and retention rates increase 120-250% after being tested in China and Japan. New products in 2014 include AdVideo for cross-platform HD video ads and AdPlay for branding ads. VMFIVE aims to launch in Taiwan, Japan and China in Q4 2014 and sees 2015 as a year of opportunity for expanding globally.
From the experience in developing dozens of enterprise web and mobile applications we're forced to question a Mobile First approach for the enterprise.
The document discusses two approaches to building websites - a static approach and a dynamic approach. The static approach manages content in the development tool and uses one-click publishing, making it suitable for simple sites with infrequent updates. The dynamic approach stores content in a database like a CMS, allowing more flexible content updates but requiring an additional caching framework. It also outlines some platform features like caching and SEO-friendly URLs that can help with performance. It encourages learning more about these techniques the next day at a session on building high performance apps.
Next Generation Mobile Web - PWA (Progressive Web App)Nuri Cahyono
Progressive web apps (PWAs) are web applications that have responsive designs, work offline, and can be installed on home screens. PWAs have key features like being responsive across devices, working offline through service workers, being discoverable through web app manifests, always being up-to-date, and allowing push notifications and app-like interactions. PWAs provide a faster web experience for customers compared to regular websites, improving conversion rates and revenue. They allow reaching customers who may not install a native mobile app.

Beyond Responsive Web Design - Moving your web agency to mobile development (...craigharmonic
My presentation from TiConf AU 2013 in Melbourne discussion some tips and techniques we used in moving from a web design studio into complete digital strategy by introducing mobile and Appcelerator's Titanium product.
Let's focus on the Mobile Web and talk about the keys to a building a great mobile experience.
From AMP (=Accelerated Mobile Pages) as a starting point up to PWA (=Progressive Web Apps). I will cover the steps through some of the key features we see as core to the modern web experience. As a bonus, we will close with new APIs that expending the web even farther.
Next Generation Website Launch by Fox Valley Technical CollegeDNN
Fox Valley Technical College launched a new responsive website in May 2014 using the DNN Evoq Content CMS. The previous site from 2006 was not mobile-friendly and marketing had little control over content updates. The new site was designed to be mobile-friendly, with marketing empowered to manage content. Initial results were positive, with a 100% increase in mobile visitors, 16% increase in organic search traffic, and much higher ratings for professional design.
Progressive web apps (PWAs) are a new type of application that combines the best of the web and the best of native apps. PWAs use modern web capabilities to deliver fast, engaging mobile experiences that feel like native mobile applications to users. Some key characteristics of PWAs include being progressive, responsive, connectivity-independent, app-like, fresh, safe, discoverable, and installable. They aim to provide native-app experiences through features like push notifications, offline support, and the ability to launch from a home screen icon.
A progressive web application is a type of application software delivered through the web, built using common web technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It is intended to work on any platform that uses a standards-compliant browser.
Jamie King implemented Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban as Chief Product Officer at Keek. He redesigned Keek's product, website, and mobile experiences to focus on the user and data. This included introducing new flows, redesigning the UI/UX, and optimizing for search and app stores. As a result, Keek saw growth in key metrics like website traffic, video views, and user engagement over the first few months.
Validately.com is a usability testing platform that needs redesigning to improve user experience. The current home page does not clearly explain what the product does, resulting in a high bounce rate. Usability testing found violations of key principles like learnability, efficiency, and satisfaction. The proposal is to redesign the home page and demo flow to better communicate Validately's value and make the product easier to learn and use.
Progressive web apps (PWAs) provide a native app-like experience through the browser. PWAs load quickly, work offline, and can be installed on home screens. This article outlines 5 key benefits of PWAs for businesses: 1) high performance through caching, 2) usability across devices through responsive design, 3) ability to work offline, 4) ability to look and function like native apps, and 5) ability to be downloaded directly like apps. Case studies show conversion rates increasing by 76% after adopting PWAs. PWAs are positioned as the future of web-hosted apps.
Progressive Web Apps (or PWA) are secure web apps, that by using modern web standards and progressive enhancement, can behave like native apps.

104 what we learned by developing our own mobile lmsWalter Wimberly
Walter Wimberly discusses creating mobile apps and sites to enhance training conferences for employees and customers. He worked in training but now develops internal apps. He wanted to make conferences feel more like events and be user friendly. Options considered were building vs buying a mobile app or site, and using an existing LMS. Ultimately a mobile site was developed for employees, then customers, focusing on essential information. Usage was tracked and feedback gathered to improve the sites. Lessons learned included understanding user needs, overcoming politics, and continued promotion.

Progressive web apps For e-Commerce- How do they go hand-in-hand?ShantanuApurva1
The term “Progressive Web App” was coined by designers Frances Berriman and Alex Russell in 2015 to describe apps that take advantage of new features supported by modern browsers, such as service workers and web app manifests, that allow users to upgrade web apps to progressive web apps in their native operating system (OS).
PWAs are quick, function offline and can also perform like a conventional native application. This provides users with a positive experience. PWAs and Web Applications perform the same functions and are extremely comparable in many aspects. And since we’ve understood how trending they are in today’s time, PWA would definitely be a good choice for your company!

Who Cares About APIs? (NordicAPIS April 2014)Nordic APIs
Anne-Sofie Nielsen gave a talk on the importance of APIs. She noted that while there are over 11,000 documented APIs, there are 1.88 billion websites that could benefit from APIs. However, the entities that build applications often do not have incentives to create APIs, so companies like Kapow build "synthetic APIs" to automate integrations. APIs allow for easier development of multiple front-ends like mobile and easier scaling. While APIs require upfront costs, not having them can limit automation and consolidation of data sources. Enterprises are demanding cloud-based tools with APIs to enable future automation and avoid vendor lock-in. However, APIs are not always standardized or well-documented, and public APIs can
The importance of developing PWAs in ReactJsReactJS
The web is a mix of ubiquity across devices and operating systems, making it the most incredible platform. Its user-centered security model and features like the implementation process controlled by a single company make it the best platform for software development. Its inherent linkability help users search and share what they have found from anywhere and to anyone. Whenever a user visits a website, they expect the site to be updated and enhanced user experience, which is possible with PWAs ReactJS web app development services using a single codebase.
As 2018 has already begun, keeping an eye on this year’s web development trends is the best way to stay competitive in your industry and ensure better return on investment on website development investment. Web development experts present top 7 trends that will rule 2018.

I also demonstrated how to use de F12 tools in Chrome to debug the Service Worker and the Manifest.json file. I also demonstrated how, by adding and changing a few lines, a Node.js app is converted to a progressive web app.
This document discusses how long websites typically last before needing to be redesigned or rebuilt. It begins by explaining that technology does not last forever and websites, being technological platforms, are subject to becoming outdated as expectations and capabilities change. It then discusses five key factors that influence when a site may need an overhaul: technological changes, design shifts, content updates, changing user expectations, and evolving devices. The document also explores the benefits of a full rebuild versus a lighter "realignment". Overall, it argues that websites must be continually evolved and optimized to avoid becoming obsolete.

HijackLoader Evolution: Interactive Process HollowingDonato Onofri
CrowdStrike researchers have identified a HijackLoader (aka IDAT Loader) sample that employs sophisticated evasion techniques to enhance the complexity of the threat. HijackLoader, an increasingly popular tool among adversaries for deploying additional payloads and tooling, continues to evolve as its developers experiment and enhance its capabilities.
In their analysis of a recent HijackLoader sample, CrowdStrike researchers discovered new techniques designed to increase the defense evasion capabilities of the loader. The malware developer used a standard process hollowing technique coupled with an additional trigger that was activated by the parent process writing to a pipe. This new approach, called "Interactive Process Hollowing", has the potential to make defense evasion stealthier.
