The $29 billion Wheatstone Project located near Onslow, Western Australia will consist of two initial LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per year. Gas from the Wheatstone and Iago offshore fields will be processed at the onshore facilities, with capacity to expand to 25 million tonnes per year by 2016. The project is a joint venture between Chevron, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Woodside Petroleum, and others. It will provide significant economic benefits through jobs and investment in infrastructure and business opportunities for local communities.
