Bevacizumab Research Paper
Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody to VEGF and binds to VEGF re ceptor and prevents

recurrences. Recurrences as late as 54 weeks has been report ed19. There are cases where ROP
continued to progress despite Avas tin20. In stage 4 ROP, tractional retinal detachment can
progress with use of Avastin. Further studies with Avastin are needed regarding the safety. Long
term observational studies are needed to provide guidelines on how long should be the follow up
after Avastin injection and how often or when re peat injection is recommended .There is also

Bevacizumab is a very useful pharmacological agent for treatment of ROP.It is important to follow
up the patient closely for recurrence. The follow up should be longer than usual and in spite of
initial regression pa tient should still be closely watched for

Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman...
Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Miller probes the dream of Willy Lowman while
making a statement about the dreams of American society. This essay will explore how each
character of the play contributes to Willy s dream, success, and failure.
Willy is the aging salesman whose imagination is much larger than his sales ability. Willy s wife,
Linda, stands by her husband even in his absence of realism. Biff and Happy follow in their father s
fallacy of life. Willy s brother, Ben is the only member of the Loman familywith the clear vision
necessary to succeed. Charlie and his son Benard, on the other hand, enjoy better success in life
compared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But in the beautiful, ironic complexity of her creation, she is also Willy s and their sons
destroyer. In her love Linda has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream, but while in her
admiration for Willy her love is powerful and moving, in her admiration for his dreams, it is
lethal. She encourages Willy s dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent,
the only realm where the dream can be fulfilled. She want to reconcile father and son, but she
attempts this in the context of Willy s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that
selfhood that involves denial of these values (Gordon p. 316). Linda is also caught up in Willy s
lies and therefore does nothing but help fuel the fire in the inferno of their dreams and ambitions.
She lets this whole masquerade continue right in front of her instead of doing something to stop
their out of control lies.
Also, Biff the oldest son, continues to search for his purpose in life. Due mainly to all the hot air
Willy always feeds him, Biff continues to stumble in his fight for life. Biff has never had the
ability to hold down a job very long due to his inability to take orders and do his time in the
trenches before becoming a success at a particular job.
Richard J. Foster states, Biff, who in the play as an amplification or reflection of Willy s problems,

Romance Embodied through Figurative Language in Taylor Swift s Red The song Red was
written and recorded by famed singer/songwriter Taylor Swift for her album of the same name. It
is a song that is full of figurative speech; the songstress makes use of similes, metaphors, and
imagery. These three techniques work together to convey the many emotions the singer feels when
she looks back at the end of relationship. Red is a song that is about remembering a relationship
and thinking about the emotions good or bad that it brought on. The first two lines of the song,
Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street /Faster than the wind,
passionate as sin, ending so suddenly, provide an example of how Swift uses similes in this song.
The artist is writing about how passionate, wild and reckless this progressing relationship was,
even though it eventually came to an abrupt halt. Swift again makes use of the simile when she
writes, Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you re already flying through the free
fall. This line can be interpreted to mean that Swift began to have second thoughts about the
relationship, but she was already in love, so it was too late to back down. ... Show more content on

In the lines Losing him was blue like I d never known / Missing him was dark grey all alone, the
use of the color blue shows that the artist felt incredibly sad when the relationship initially ended,
and the color grey is here used to describe the immense depression she felt when the relationship
was over. The writer also describes how wonderful her love was for the other person by using the
color red. An example of this is the following

Solution Focused Brief Therapy And Its Goals
This paper defines the Solution Focused Brief Therapy and its goals, strategies and techniques.
This approach focuses on individuals devising solution for problems rather than solving problems.
Solution building is a collaborative effort between therapy and client. SFBT concentrates on the
clients strengths and resources and belief that the therapist is not the expert but rather client is the
expert. SFBT was developed by Steve De Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg and their team at the Brief
family TherapyCenter in Milwaukee doing the 1970 s. This approach is directed for immediate
relief from a problem using a range of techniques such as; the miracle questions, pretherapy
change, exception questions, summary feedback and scaling questions. The desire of this
approach is for the therapist and client to form a partnership in order to create personal meaningful
goal that will guide the therapy process in a short period of time. Attention is mainly given to
affirm what the client is doing and what the client and working that will lead to a better future. The
central concept of SFBT is a movement from talking about problems to talking about and creating
solution. Therapy is kept simple and brief.
Key Words; Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Psychotherapeutic Technique, Goals
Solution Focused Brief Therapy is solution building as oppose to problem solving. It is a Post

Short Story On Han s Dinner For The Night

Pathology and Evaluation 1
Mr. Baerman
Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome
Zachary Jeffers
The objective for this case study is to give in detail the evaluation process of medial tibial stress
syndrome, including treatment plan and progress. Medial tibial stress syndrome is a pathology
common in sports that require a lot of running. It occurs when overuse and repetitive stresses are
placed on the tibia. Some differential diagnosis are stress fracture, and entrapment of the superficial
peroneal nerve. Treatment for this pathology are ulrasound, cold whirlpool and electric stimulation.
The uniqueness of this case is how long the athlete had been experiencing pain before bringing it tot
the attention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diagnosis
My diagnosis for the patients injury is medial tibial stress syndrome. I believe this due to the
positive special test and the palpation s. The compression test was positive with pain on the medial
distal one third of the tibia. The fulcrum test was the most positive out of the two with the patient
pulling back from pain. Also with the palpation s, he had point tenderness over the medial distal
one third of the tibia (1985).
Treatment and Clinical Course
Physical therapy modalities, such as ultrasound, whirlpool baths, phonophoresis, augmented soft
tissue mobilization, electrical stimulation, and unweighted ambulation, may be used (2009). Ice and
rest are the two most important treatments the athlete can receive during the acute phase.
Ultrasound will be used to increase the tempeture of the local area. This will increase the speed of
healing. Phonophoresis will be used to introduce medications into the area. Mainly anesthetics to
numb the trigger point. Whirlpool baths will be used to relive pain and swelling of injured leg.
Electrical stimulation is used for to help the healing process by transporting ions beneficial to
healing to the affected area

Health Improvement Plan Research Paper
We would all say all are mindful of the various health improvement plans to look over, however
how would we choose which one will satisfy our individual needs? There are numerous things to

Eco-feminism Essay
Today, we live in a world interwoven with women s oppression, ecological degradation, and the
exploitation of workers, race, and class. In the midst of these troubles, a movement known as
ecofeminism appears to be gaining recognition. In the following, I hope to illustrate this
revitalization movement . I will begin by characterizing a definition of ecofeminism; I will then
bring to the forefront the ethical issues that Ecofeminism is involved with, then distinguish primary
ideas and criticisms.
Though in theory, ecological feminism has been around for a number of years, it emerged as a
political movement in the 1970s. Francoise d Eaubonne, a French feminist philosopher, coined the
term Ecofeminism in 1974. Ecofeminism is a feminist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our western society has become a globalized world of high technology. There appears to be no
ability to see beyond, to see what we have encased ourselves in; an artificial environment that has
remarkably replaced the original, nature itself. We do not live with nature; we live above it, off it. I
find it to be rather paradoxical that nature can exist and has existed without humans, but humans
cannot exist without nature. Nature has become merely a resource to sustain our artificial
environment. I will exemplify certain dichotomies that support the aforementioned conceptual
framework.
Reason vs. Emotion
Culture vs. Nature
Scientific vs. Mystical
Rational vs. Intuitive
Hierarchy vs. Circle
Masculine vs. Female

Batman, not Superman, Is the Better Superhero
Super heroes are fictional characters who possess amazing characters and often appear in comic
books. A super hero is someone who is well known for extraordinary characteristics or behaviors
i.e. strength, courage, nobility, fighting crime and seeking justice in their world. They often
have special powers and are clothed in special costumes that distinguish them from others. They
live a life of a loner as a means of protecting their identity and to maintain a high level of secrecy.
They are well celebrated all over the world and especially in their where they perform an act of
heroism. A super hero is known for good deeds and rarely practices bad deeds. They save people
and help the weak out of a problem. In my opinion I would say that supermanis a more super hero
than batman.
Superman also known as Man of steel is a known superhero. Since his creation he has been around
for approximately 60 years. Clark Kent is his real name. He is not a human and is from planet
Krypton. He was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster high school students in 1933 (DC
Comics, 2008). He is said to be one of the most powerful superheroes in the universe possessing
great knacks such as, heat vision, great fighting skills, freezing breath, incredible super strength
and high super speed. In June 1938 he appeared in the televisions and radio stations films and
videogames for the first time. He wears a unique costume, blue in color red cape and a schemed

The Pros And Cons Of US Military Bases
The Pros and Cons of US military bases overseas
Lee Mueller
Dr. Sooh Rhee Ryu
POLS 260
16 December 2016
According to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense James R. Blaker, military bases are
installations routinely used by military forces that supply their personnel with the means and
equipment to respond to a threat within the land it occupies (The Editors, 2011). As the world s
only superpower, the US possesses more military bases in foreign countries than any other state in
the entire world. In the year 2015, it was reported that the US had approximately 800 military
bases in more than 70 countries worldwide (Vine, 2015). By projecting power abroad, the US

To answer this we must look at the stability and political environments that encompass a state
because they play a large role in the ability of other actors to occupy land that it controls. For this
reason, the US should only associate with countries that follow their same beliefs. The US must be
cautious as to what countries that they decide to ally themselves with in order to analyze potential
political outcomes (Lostumbo, Michael J., McNerney, Michael J., Peltz, Eric, 2013). Factors that
can play a role can include a countries economic growth, annual GDP, or if there is ethnic conflict
within the territory. If analyzed in an efficient way, the argument can be made to allow for the
structuring and development of overseas bases in underdeveloped and/or developed

Life Coaching Essay
Although I am often referred to as a life coach, I believe perspective coach better describes what I
offer my clients.
I like the word perspective because it means a particular attitude toward something; a point of view.
A life coach is traditionally characterized as someone who counsels and encourages clients on
matters having to do with career or personal challenges; counseling often defined as a form of
advice.
Although timely advice can be useful, many of us already have a number of well meaning people
lined up in our lives who are more than eager to dispense their vault of wisdom about the right
way for us to live a happy and successful life.
But if it were really as simple as just getting the right advice, then why would we struggle ... Show

song was written, did not, in fact, start the fire. Thought the song many events are listed until the
chorus comes along again to remind the listener the they did not start the fire. The fire in this song
that Billy Joelspeaks of are crazy and shocking events in the world not only being generally
harmful to the public but events that changed how people viewed things. The song s repetition of
not starting the fire, the lengthy lines used for verses that completely list events, and the listing of
events as opposed to common verses in an average song shows how they did not start the fire and

With the song being so different from an average song, it makes the song feel filled in the
verses, with all of the events that he provides, in the short time that the song plays. The song s
verses are entirely evidence for Billy Joel s claim that the fire had not been started by him or his
group and with so many examples, there is no time to put reasoning behind it but rather connect
the ideas to the major point, being the chorus. With so many examples one after another as the
song continues through its verses Billy Joel is listing as many examples as he can to prove the
point of the fire having been already started. As he lists these events he is pushing forward so
many examples against the argument without taking any look at another side which shows how
he is not only annoyed by the claim that he did start the fire but also how he wants to push his
side. With so much evidence being thrown at the listener it s impossible to refute what he is
saying. His strange verses being entirely made up of listed evidence towards his claim, it supports
his argument in a strange and uncharacteristic way for an average

Socrates s Theory Of Justice
In Plato s Republic, Socrates argues for the importance of living a just life. However, Glaucon
asks why any person favors the just life over an unjust one. Glaucon would like an answer
regarding this type of justice, and if it is good only for its results or good in itself. Socrates
argues that justice in the individual is the balance between sprit, reason, and desire (scc. 435a).
Socrates account of justice, displays a life in which a justice provides benefits not only for the
individual, but also society. In this case, Socrates account of justice, does not provide a sufficient
reason to be just. Socrates parallel of justice and health cannot answer Glaucon s request fully.
Therefore, without sufficiently proving the inherent good of justice his claim falls apart.
Socrates account of justice stems from Glaucon s arrangement of the three categories of goods:
inherently good, pleasurable, or both. Glaucon asks if there is any value in simply being a just
person, he comes to find that if a person can be unjust and get away with it then the unjust life is
better. The first of its three categories is meant for the things that are a kind of good we like for
its own sake (scc.357c) . The second category is for what s good as a result of their consequences
such as exercise for fitness and sex for pleasure and children. The highest category is for things that
are both good in themselves and because of their consequences. Continuing the challenge and

The Ottoman Empire and Judaism
The reason the Jews went to the Ottoman Empire was because the Christians persecuted them
because of their different beliefs. The Jews were so scared of what the Christians might do they
wanted to settle in a safer place which the Ottomans offered them. The Ottomans offering them land
was the best thing the Jewscould have asked for. The Ottomans offered the Jews protection, offered
them communal autonomy and tolerated their religious practices. The Ottomans at the time had a
rule about non Muslims having to pay a tax, which is called the Jitza. The Muslims considered
Jews and Christians dhimmi or the people of the pact. The dhimmi we issued to pay the jitza, and
where forced to follow these rules; prohibition against carrying fire arms, against riding horses,
against building new houses or worship or even repairing old ones, against proselytism, against
building homes higher than Muslim ones, and they must wear distinctive clothing. Even after all of
these rules the Jewish community still thrived in the Ottoman Empire. The population of Jews in the
Ottoman Empire was very distinct and was coming from different places. The most noticeable and
most studied among the Jews in the Ottoman Empire were the Sephardim. The Sephardim had great

Ottomans because of the ties they had with Europe. Europeans brought new languages and

The House Of My Dream House Essay
My Dream Home
Home, the place one spends more time in their life and share special moments with family.
Where one expects to live permanently carefree, feel protected under the roof of their house. One

Step Brothers Movie Analysis
How many 40 year old unemployed slackers do you know? Now imagine 2 of them under the
same roof obnoxiously fighting about childish things. Step Brothers from start to finish is
exactly this displaying 2 outrageously comical actors in Will Ferrell and John C Reilly
bickering back and forth trying to learn how to cope with one another. The glory of this film
comes from the constant one liners that make no sense but fit the film perfectly, the childish
behavior, and the elementary school comebacks mixed in with the adult language which adds a
different but great comical sense that few movies have been able to portray before. Such as
when Ferrell refers to Reilly as a Big, fat, curly headed f*** . This line had me rolling on the floor
due to the seriousness of Ferrell and the reaction of Reilly and the fact that it is a simple 3rd grade
insult with an F bomb thrown in there that just makes it all that more funny. Although Talladega
Nights and the Anchorman trilogy had better storylines none compare to the pure comedythat Step
Brothersprovides. Step Brothers is Will Ferrells most entertaining movie made to date, and is one
that can be watched over and over without losing its humor.
Step Brothers stars Will Ferrell(Brennan: 39 years old) and John C Reilly(Dale: 40 years old).

The Pros And Cons Of The Secret Service
The President of the United States is known for being heavily guarded when going to important
events such as reading speeches and meeting with other national officials. These guards are known
as the Secret Service. In the entertainment world, these men are often portrayed as mysterious men
in black and white suits that protect the president. In recent events, the Secret Service was seen
walking beside President Donald Trump at his Inauguration Parade. They were seen with large
black trench coats, and it was assumed that they were carrying automatic submachine guns under
them in case of an attack. They are known to be involved in cyber securityrecently as well, since
most crimes nowadays have some form of evidence found on a digital device. Although the general

Untested Rape Boxs
Recent events revealed earlier this year have brought to light the massive backlog of untested rape
kits. An increased public awareness of this backlog and approved funding has moved the issue from
the back burner.
While the effort of processing the backlog of rape kits is noble and of great public interest it may
leave some questioning the benefits that this testing provides to the survivors of sexual assault and
the general public.
In 2014 an estimated 2,700 untested rape kits in Utah were being submitted for processing. Some
kits dating back to as early as 1999.
The discovery of the backlog pushed lawmakers to fund the testing of these forgotten kits. And in
2014 Lawmakers approved $750,000 to begin the processing of the kits. ... Show more content on

Of those 767 kits submitted to the lab 586 have been processed to date.
But, as reported by the Salt Lake Police Department, of the 586 processed kits 89 of the matches
led to 63 possible investigations. Twelve of those 63 cases were submitted to the Salt Lake District
Attorney for further review and out of those, seven were denied. The remaining five cases led to
three perpetrators being incarcerated. The remaining two are thought to have fled the country.
The general public, as well as some survivors of sexual assault may feel as if testing the rape kits
will remove rapists from their communities and put them where they belong. However, with
statistics being so low it brings up the question of whether quicker return times on processed kits
would aid in a greater amount of charges being filed, or if testing all of the rape kits would even be
beneficial?
According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse Incest National Network) the benefits of having a sexual
assault exam done increases the chances of a perpetrator being identified. DNA evidence can
also hold up in court better and is more likely to lead to charges being filed. And finally, the
collected DNA evidence is added to the FBI database CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). So if
a perpetrator is not convicted and they do reoffend, their DNA is on file making it easier to connect

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator Essay
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a self report personality assessment developed by
Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers based on the typological personality theory of
Carl Jung. The MBTI is comprised of four dichotomous nominal scales: Introversion/Extroversion,
Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, Judgment/Perception. These four scales assign individuals
one of sixteen personality types. While the measures of the MBTI themselves are taxonomies,
the assigned personality type is a typology meaning, an INTP is not an introverted ENTP, but an
entirely different personality all together. The MBTI is commonly used in career counseling, with
associated best fit careers for each MBTI type. The MBTI is also one of the best well known
personality assessments in the public consciousness. However, the actual practical applications of
the MBTI in psychological research is unclear. While the Myers Briggs Type Indicatorcontinues to
be a major pop psychology personality assessment, there has been much debate about the MBTI s
actual usefulness for predicting behaviors in a variety of psychology research. An analysis of the
MBTI s reliability and validity (namely construct, content, and criterion validity) reveals that while
the MBTI does have other useful applications primarily in workplace team building and facilitating
communication the measure does not hold up to scrutiny in research applications; research into the
typological aspects of the MBTI has been

when Melanie was in front of school there is a conspicuous increase in bird count and as they

Comparing both movies there are many similarities, as he showed little details in the

used the mode of mise en scГЁne to achieve this. (MediaStudiesCollection, 2012) In the scene

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome ( Cprs ) Essay
Complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy is an
autonomic and central nervous system disease that results in an individual s experiencing chronic
pain (Ferrillo, 2016). Pain usually happens in one or more generalized region of the extremities,
such as the arms, hands, legs, or feet, but can also affect other parts of the body. Although the
particular origin of the disease is undetermined, the majority of the time CRPS is caused by a
significant trauma; such as a fracture, sprain, burn, cut, bruise, limb immobilization, or a surgical
procedure (Ferrillo, 2016). CRPS stems from a neurological dysfunction that generates severe pain,
mild or dramatic changes in skin color, temperature, and swelling in the affected area (National
Institute of Neurological disorders and Stroke, 2015). There are two types of complex regional pain
syndrome, type I is no apparent nerve injury and may it develop following a noxious event that
may or may not have been traumatic. Types II develop after a nerve injury of the affected area
(Carr, Cerda, Fiala, 2016).
CRPS is uncommon, amongst all individuals, however, can easily affect a person after a traumatic
injury to a limb. CRPS symptoms differ in severity and duration and the outcome for each
individual is different, for example, children and teenager have a higher prospect of recovering,
whereas others are left with irreversible variations regardless of treatment (National Institute of

Perso-Islamic Synthesis Essay
The purpose of this essay is to discuss the Islamization of Persia in relation to the Samanid and
Buyid Dynasties. The synthesis of Persian culture and Islam was not an immediate result of the
Arab expansion into Iran and there is certainly a lack of research on the subject. However, in this
essay, I will attempt to explain the contributions of the Samanid and Buyid dynasties to this
synthesis with a focus on the attempts of the Samanid Dynasty at centralization and a unified
identity through religion, language and culture.
The Islamization of Iran occurred as a result of the Arab conquest of Persia. The institution of a

This period marked significant changes for Persia since there was a large movement of immigration
directed towards the region from the Arabian Peninsula.
After Persia was conquered, the people began to convert to Islam and landowners gave their
properties to Islam and were granted even more land as a result of the conversion. Further, the
Zoroastrians were in fact the ones most enraged by the conversion to Islam as they were involved
in occupations that involved impurities such as working with fire, etc. Missionaries did not really
encounter much opposition as it became quite easy to convert the Persians into Islam alluding to
the fact that there were already many similarities and that transforming, or converting, was really
not such a hard task. Muslim leaders would also win conversions by attending public Muslim
prayers, promising money and allowing for the Qur an to be recited in Persian and not Arabic, so
that all could understand what the Qur an was really trying to say. The Samanids, who were
originally based in the Zoroastrian nobility, started their own conversion process encouraging
people become Sunni Muslims. In fact, during the reign of the Samanids in the 9th century, the Qur

Lord Of The Flies Conflict Analysis
Lord of the Flies is a novel that involves a group of young British boys who are stranded on an
island after their plane is shot down during the events of World War 2. Written by William Golding
to express the true and undeniable savagery of the human race, Golding sheds light on the
undeniable truth concerning human nature and how, without the rules and regulations of society,
civilizationas a whole would collapse upon itself.
In the novel, the group of boys are forced to face many problems during their time on the island,
resulting in multiple disputes between the boys. Conflict is evident all the way through the novel,
whether it is concerning man versus man (Jack and Ralph), man versus himself (Ralph s inner
self feuding over whether or not it s worthwhile to be saved) or man versus nature (tribe vs. the
boar, tribe vs. the beast, and tribe vs. storms). Golding is able to show the growing conflict through
Jack, the chief of the savage group, and Ralph, the chief of the civilized group. By relating these
conflicts to the characters, Golding is able to show the growing tension between civilization and
savagery. However, there are three key moments in the rising action that best portrays this point;
when the fire is let to burn out and a boat passes by the island, when Jack abandons Ralph s group
to create his own, and when the savage group steals Piggy s specs to make their own fire. If these
events never occured, the climax would not have been as provoking. The first

Drug Law
1) An explanation will be made of the current legislation relating to the sale and possession of
illicit drugs. A discussion will then be carried out incorporating two of the moral issues associated
with these activities. Firstly, to what extent the laws relating to illicit drug use should promote good
moral behaviour and discourage immoral or harmful behaviour. Secondly, whether an individual
should have the liberty of choice to partake in drugrelated activities.
The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (MoDA) governs the sale and possession of illicit drugs in the
United Kingdom. This legislation was implemented following the signing of the Single Convention

Consequently, could placing legal restrictions on the choice of engaging in such activities be seen
as an infringement of this liberty. Furthermore, to what extent should the law control an
individual s personal choice? These questions raise a similar response to what was established in
the Hart Devlin debate, which is, a principle of the law is to prevent harm arising to others. For
that reason, it could be argued that provided an individual s actions do not evoke harm on others,
their choices should remain without legal interference. However, the law principally endeavours to
protect individuals from harming others. The law can therefore justify limiting liberty of choice
and individual freedom, provided their actions would result in evoking harm to others. Cited OU

Properties of Gases
Properties of Gases
General Chemistry 1
Lab 5
Abstract:
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the properties of several gasses, which were the
products of a reaction, and examine the way the gasses react under certain conditions. These
conditions, such as introducing a flame to the gas as well as oxygen and CO2, caused other reactions
to occur.
Hypothesis:
If the gasses are correctly synthesized then there will be a clear reaction with the introduction of the
flame, O2, CO2, Air, limewater, and Bromthymol indicator.
Procedures:
Step 1. I placed a small amount of Mossy Zn in the test tube and then added HCL. I used the

CO2 through the tube of the gas assembly through the limewater, which caused it to turn a cloudy
color and possibly produce a precipitate. Using the same gas assembly technique, I ran the CO2
through a few ml bromothymol blue in the well plate as well. When the gas contacted the
bromothymol, it turned from blue to yellow then to a murky green.
Step 5. I added a few pieces of Alka Seltzer to the gas delivery tube and added water to create the
gas reaction. Using the gas assembly C amp;P tube, I ran this gas synthesis through the limewater in
the well plate, which turned the limewater from hazy to clear.
Step 6. I put some of the limewater in the test tube and with the straw, I breathed through the
limewater. This had the opposite effect of the Alka seltzer gas as the breath caused the limewater to
turn hazy.
Analysis:
(Results included in my procedures) The hydrogen was proven to be combustable. The oxygen was
proven to be flameable. No reaction with the hydrogen and oxygen mixture which may have been

Evolution Of The Human Genome Project
While many diseases and viruses are caused by outside sources, some diseases occur from within
the human body. Regular ailments can be cured with medicine, or fought off overtime by getting a
vaccine, but certain diseases and anomalies cannot be directly treated. This is because they are
genetically inherited by certain parts of one s DNA. DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid, and is
inherited from the parents of a person. These strands, found within the nucleus of all cells,
determine the appearance and genetic structure of a person. Through one s DNA, there may be
diseases inherited from the parents, such as sickle cell anemia, Gaucher s disease and Parkinson s
disease. In order to heal and fix patients, doctors needed to learn more about the Human Genome. In
1990 work began on the Human Genome Project, which would map the entirety of the genes in the
human species. However, the participants would not have been able to work without the
discoveries made by those before them. In order for The Human Genome Project to exist, the
background of geneticsmust be known, for the discoveries made in the field would be what
eventually led the project itself. Genetics in itself is a fairly new concept, which officially began in
1865 in central Europe. A monk named Gregor Mendel learned about heredity and inheritance
through breeding pea plants. After retiring from his teaching and scientific life, he became the
abbot of his church. Unfortunately, the importance of his discovery was

How Did Prohibition Cause Organized Crime
The choice of prohibition, a decision designed to make America a safer place, not only made
America drastically more dangerous, but it also led to a substantial rise in organized crime. The
reasons for prohibition include the temperance movement and the thought of a safer society. These
reasons, which led to prohibition becoming a law, only did the opposite. Prohibition opened the
gates and allowed for the sale of illegal alcohol, bootlegging, to grow exponentially. This easy
opportunity to make substantial amounts of money caused the Italian crimefamilies to begin the
bootlegging business. Prohibition also led to more alcohol related deaths, and severely hurt the
doomed economy by taking away thousands of jobs. The Prohibition Era allowed for the Italian
crime families to become so wealthy and so entrenched in society that they could no longer be
stopped. Ever since colonial times, it was normal to consume alcohol and alcoholic beverages such
as rum and whiskey several times a day, and public drunkenness wasn t seriously looked down
upon. This all changed with the American Temperance Society, founded in 1826 in Boston. The

director of education and research at Human Life International, writes in his article Does Abortion
Really Reduce Crime? . The most significant debate contrasting among the two sources is if
abortion is the cause of the diminishment of the crime rate. Levitt and Dubner claim that high
abortion rates in a nation diminishes crime, while Clowes claims that there are multiple
fundamental issues when concluding that legalized abortion leads to cutbacks in crime. By
comparing and contrasting the two sources, there will be a sufficient amount of information to
determine how abortion rates affect crime.
Steven Levitt s and Stephen Dubner s focus on their book Freakonomics is revealing to their
audience eccentric ways to correspond to a variety of outlandish, yet controversial issues that are
unaware and oblivious to our society. Specifically in chapter 4 titled Where Have All the Criminals
Gone? , they distinctly talk about the sudden drop in crime rates in the 1990s, which was caused
primarily by the legalization of abortion. Additionally, they analyze other

  • 3. Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman... Dreams and Success in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Miller probes the dream of Willy Lowman while making a statement about the dreams of American society. This essay will explore how each character of the play contributes to Willy s dream, success, and failure. Willy is the aging salesman whose imagination is much larger than his sales ability. Willy s wife, Linda, stands by her husband even in his absence of realism. Biff and Happy follow in their father s fallacy of life. Willy s brother, Ben is the only member of the Loman familywith the clear vision necessary to succeed. Charlie and his son Benard, on the other hand, enjoy better success in life compared ... In her love Linda has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream, but while in her admiration for Willy her love is powerful and moving, in her admiration for his dreams, it is lethal. She encourages Willy s dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream can be fulfilled. She want to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context of Willy s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that involves denial of these values (Gordon p. 316). Linda is also caught up in Willy s lies and therefore does nothing but help fuel the fire in the inferno of their dreams and ambitions. She lets this whole masquerade continue right in front of her instead of doing something to stop their out of control lies. Also, Biff the oldest son, continues to search for his purpose in life. Due mainly to all the hot air Willy always feeds him, Biff continues to stumble in his fight for life. Biff has never had the ability to hold down a job very long due to his inability to take orders and do his time in the trenches before becoming a success at a particular job. Richard J. Foster states, Biff, who in the play as an amplification or reflection of Willy s problems, has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tochia Hendrix Jordan 6 February 2016 Romance Embodied through Figurative Language in Taylor Swift s Red The song Red was written and recorded by famed singer/songwriter Taylor Swift for her album of the same name. It is a song that is full of figurative speech; the songstress makes use of similes, metaphors, and imagery. These three techniques work together to convey the many emotions the singer feels when she looks back at the end of relationship. Red is a song that is about remembering a relationship and thinking about the emotions good or bad that it brought on. The first two lines of the song, Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street /Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly, provide an example of how Swift uses similes in this song. The artist is writing about how passionate, wild and reckless this progressing relationship was, even though it eventually came to an abrupt halt. Swift again makes use of the simile when she writes, Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you re already flying through the free fall. This line can be interpreted to mean that Swift began to have second thoughts about the relationship, but she was already in love, so it was too late to back down. ... In the midst of these troubles, a movement known as ecofeminism appears to be gaining recognition. In the following, I hope to illustrate this revitalization movement . I will begin by characterizing a definition of ecofeminism; I will then bring to the forefront the ethical issues that Ecofeminism is involved with, then distinguish primary ideas and criticisms. Though in theory, ecological feminism has been around for a number of years, it emerged as a political movement in the 1970s. • 12. Batman, not Superman, Is the Better Superhero Super heroes are fictional characters who possess amazing characters and often appear in comic books. A super hero is someone who is well known for extraordinary characteristics or behaviors i.e. strength, courage, nobility, fighting crime and seeking justice in their world. They often have special powers and are clothed in special costumes that distinguish them from others. They live a life of a loner as a means of protecting their identity and to maintain a high level of secrecy. Although timely advice can be useful, many of us already have a number of well meaning people lined up in our lives who are more than eager to dispense their vault of wisdom about the right way for us to live a happy and successful life. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome ( Cprs ) Essay Complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy is an autonomic and central nervous system disease that results in an individual s experiencing chronic pain (Ferrillo, 2016). Pain usually happens in one or more generalized region of the extremities, such as the arms, hands, legs, or feet, but can also affect other parts of the body. Although the particular origin of the disease is undetermined, the majority of the time CRPS is caused by a significant trauma; such as a fracture, sprain, burn, cut, bruise, limb immobilization, or a surgical procedure (Ferrillo, 2016). CRPS stems from a neurological dysfunction that generates severe pain, mild or dramatic changes in skin color, temperature, and swelling in the affected area (National Institute of Neurological disorders and Stroke, 2015). There are two types of complex regional pain syndrome, type I is no apparent nerve injury and may it develop following a noxious event that may or may not have been traumatic. Types II develop after a nerve injury of the affected area (Carr, Cerda, Fiala, 2016). CRPS is uncommon, amongst all individuals, however, can easily affect a person after a traumatic injury to a limb. In the novel, the group of boys are forced to face many problems during their time on the island, resulting in multiple disputes between the boys. Conflict is evident all the way through the novel, whether it is concerning man versus man (Jack and Ralph), man versus himself (Ralph s inner self feuding over whether or not it s worthwhile to be saved) or man versus nature (tribe vs. the boar, tribe vs. the beast, and tribe vs. storms). Golding is able to show the growing conflict through Jack, the chief of the savage group, and Ralph, the chief of the civilized group. By relating these conflicts to the characters, Golding is able to show the growing tension between civilization and savagery. However, there are three key moments in the rising action that best portrays this point; when the fire is let to burn out and a boat passes by the island, when Jack abandons Ralph s group to create his own, and when the savage group steals Piggy s specs to make their own fire. If these events never occured, the climax would not have been as provoking. The first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Drug Law 1) An explanation will be made of the current legislation relating to the sale and possession of illicit drugs. A discussion will then be carried out incorporating two of the moral issues associated with these activities. Firstly, to what extent the laws relating to illicit drug use should promote good moral behaviour and discourage immoral or harmful behaviour. Secondly, whether an individual should have the liberty of choice to partake in drugrelated activities. The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (MoDA) governs the sale and possession of illicit drugs in the United Kingdom. This legislation was implemented following the signing of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961. The convention was established by the United Nations (UN) with the intention to restrict the number of drug related offences. The MoDA 1971 classifies the offences on possession and supply of drugs. The classification system places ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consequently, could placing legal restrictions on the choice of engaging in such activities be seen as an infringement of this liberty. Furthermore, to what extent should the law control an individual s personal choice? These questions raise a similar response to what was established in the Hart Devlin debate, which is, a principle of the law is to prevent harm arising to others. For that reason, it could be argued that provided an individual s actions do not evoke harm on others, their choices should remain without legal interference. However, the law principally endeavours to protect individuals from harming others. The law can therefore justify limiting liberty of choice and individual freedom, provided their actions would result in evoking harm to others. Cited OU (2016a 2). • 37. Properties of Gases Properties of Gases General Chemistry 1 Lab 5 Abstract: The purpose of this experiment is to examine the properties of several gasses, which were the products of a reaction, and examine the way the gasses react under certain conditions. These conditions, such as introducing a flame to the gas as well as oxygen and CO2, caused other reactions to occur. Hypothesis: If the gasses are correctly synthesized then there will be a clear reaction with the introduction of the flame, O2, CO2, Air, limewater, and Bromthymol indicator. Procedures: Step 1. I placed a small amount of Mossy Zn in the test tube and then added HCL. I used the rubber stopper and a pipet bulb to collect the Hydrogen gas synthesis. I filled the pipet bulb with ... I added a few ml of limewater to a well of my well plate and ran the CO2 through the tube of the gas assembly through the limewater, which caused it to turn a cloudy color and possibly produce a precipitate. Using the same gas assembly technique, I ran the CO2 through a few ml bromothymol blue in the well plate as well. When the gas contacted the bromothymol, it turned from blue to yellow then to a murky green. Step 5. I added a few pieces of Alka Seltzer to the gas delivery tube and added water to create the gas reaction. Using the gas assembly C amp;P tube, I ran this gas synthesis through the limewater in the well plate, which turned the limewater from hazy to clear. Step 6. I put some of the limewater in the test tube and with the straw, I breathed through the limewater. This had the opposite effect of the Alka seltzer gas as the breath caused the limewater to turn hazy. Analysis: (Results included in my procedures) The hydrogen was proven to be combustable. The oxygen was proven to be flameable. No reaction with the hydrogen and oxygen mixture which may have been an experimental error caused by (unknown). Carbon dioxide extinguished the flame, turned the limewater cloudy, and altered the ph of the bromothymol. Alka Seltzer turned the limewater clear. Breath turned the limewater hazy. • 38. Evolution Of The Human Genome Project While many diseases and viruses are caused by outside sources, some diseases occur from within the human body. Regular ailments can be cured with medicine, or fought off overtime by getting a vaccine, but certain diseases and anomalies cannot be directly treated. This is because they are genetically inherited by certain parts of one s DNA. DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid, and is inherited from the parents of a person. These strands, found within the nucleus of all cells, determine the appearance and genetic structure of a person. Through one s DNA, there may be diseases inherited from the parents, such as sickle cell anemia, Gaucher s disease and Parkinson s disease. In order to heal and fix patients, doctors needed to learn more about the Human Genome. In 1990 work began on the Human Genome Project, which would map the entirety of the genes in the human species. However, the participants would not have been able to work without the discoveries made by those before them. In order for The Human Genome Project to exist, the background of geneticsmust be known, for the discoveries made in the field would be what eventually led the project itself. Genetics in itself is a fairly new concept, which officially began in 1865 in central Europe. A monk named Gregor Mendel learned about heredity and inheritance through breeding pea plants. After retiring from his teaching and scientific life, he became the abbot of his church. Unfortunately, the importance of his discovery was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Constitutionally, we are require to have specific privacy rights or acts that protect us. At least it would be presumed that way, up until topics like government spying break that assumption of safety of our calls, searches, emails, and history on our devices. The uproar that occurred in early June of 2013, was due to a so called security program called PRISM. Prism is not just any security programs. • 40. How Did Prohibition Cause Organized Crime The choice of prohibition, a decision designed to make America a safer place, not only made America drastically more dangerous, but it also led to a substantial rise in organized crime. The reasons for prohibition include the temperance movement and the thought of a safer society. These reasons, which led to prohibition becoming a law, only did the opposite. Prohibition opened the gates and allowed for the sale of illegal alcohol, bootlegging, to grow exponentially. This easy opportunity to make substantial amounts of money caused the Italian crimefamilies to begin the bootlegging business. Prohibition also led to more alcohol related deaths, and severely hurt the doomed economy by taking away thousands of jobs. The Prohibition Era allowed for the Italian crime families to become so wealthy and so entrenched in society that they could no longer be stopped. Ever since colonial times, it was normal to consume alcohol and alcoholic beverages such as rum and whiskey several times a day, and public drunkenness wasn t seriously looked down upon. This all changed with the American Temperance Society, founded in 1826 in Boston. The new temperance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To fill this easy void with such a high demand, the Italian crime families began to set up bootlegging operations. Since alcohol was still legal in most other countries, the crime families imported it across the Canadian and Mexican borders. As an example of the high demand for alcohol, New York City had twice the number of speakeasies than it did bars before prohibition. Musk conceptualized a project called Mars Oasis, in 2001, in which he would land a miniature experimental greenhouse on Mars that contained seeds and dehydrating gel, after hydrating the gel the seeds would grow on Martian soil (McKnight, 2001). The project was to regain a dwindling public interest in space exploration and increase the budget of NASA. Musk quickly realized that the expense of getting to Mars was far greater than he expected and that there would need to be a breakthrough in rocket technology. Musk traveled the world meeting with different rocket builders and space engineers in hopes of finding the right rocket builder and the right price to make his project a reality but did not find a suitable candidate. Musk had the idea of creating a company that could build the rockets that he needed at a fraction of the cost. Musk saw opportunity where others saw dead ends. He hired renowned rockets engineers and opened a facility in El Segundo, California, called SpaceX. Musk decided SpaceX s first rocket would be named Falcon 1, a nod to Star Wars Millennium Falcon (Vance, 2015). • 43. Abortion And The Effect On Crime Rate Abortion and the Effect on Crime Rate When you take a glance at the two relating topics of abortion and crime rate, there are going to be several credible sources that will have plenty of data that will either support the claim or prove the claim wrong. With the peculiar comparison of crime and abortion, we look at what authors Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner writes in their book Freakonomics and what Dr. Brian Clowes, director of education and research at Human Life International, writes in his article Does Abortion Really Reduce Crime? . The most significant debate contrasting among the two sources is if abortion is the cause of the diminishment of the crime rate. Levitt and Dubner claim that high abortion rates in a nation diminishes crime, while Clowes claims that there are multiple fundamental issues when concluding that legalized abortion leads to cutbacks in crime. By comparing and contrasting the two sources, there will be a sufficient amount of information to determine how abortion rates affect crime. Steven Levitt s and Stephen Dubner s focus on their book Freakonomics is revealing to their audience eccentric ways to correspond to a variety of outlandish, yet controversial issues that are unaware and oblivious to our society.
