China exported about 3.4 kt pyridine in 2008 with average price of USD3.98/kg (RMB27/kg). In
H1 2009, the export volume was about 0.8 kt, 0.9 kt less than that in the same period of 2008.
More and more pyridine was consumed in domestic market. Over 80% (about 2.7 kt) of the
pyridine was exported to the UK and US in 2008.
As of May 2011, there are three active pyridine manufacturers in China with active capacity
and output of around 68,000t/a and 37,000 tonnes (2010) respectively. The pure pyridine of
Nantong Reilly is mainly supplied to Nantong Syngenta or exported, and that of Redsun Group
is mainly used to produce paraquat technical by itself or sold to domestic market.
