This document discusses how filmmakers can engage audiences through transmedia storytelling by taking them on an emotional journey beyond just movies from moment to moment in a story across multiple platforms. It emphasizes developing stories that get audiences to feel, think and do things through gaming, role-playing, exploration and reflection across different storytelling experiences like a web series, graphic novels, and mobile games. The summary provides an example of one successful transmedia project that had high engagement across platforms like YouTube and Kindle with a small production budget and no marketing budget.
(1) Doubletake Studios created an educational alternate reality game for 13-17 year olds across 17 Florida schools to teach ethics and economics.
