The Department of Computer Science &Engineering was established in the year
1990 (30+ years of standing) given the high demand for Computer Science professionals
from the industry. The department aims to provide students with a strong foundational
background in Computer Science, whilst enabling them to integrate their knowledge with
other disciplines in order to make new and innovative discoveries. The undergraduate and
postgraduate programs of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering are
approved by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.
HOD’s MESSAGE Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and
Engineering, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science
and Technology. The department runs undergraduate programme
(4), postgraduate programme, Ph.D programme and also runs six
minor degree programmes.
The department has excellent infrastructural and computing
facilities with well qualified and dedicated faculty. The goal of the
department is to prepare and motivate the students for a
successful career in the industry, research and academics and
also to make them meet the needs of emerging technology. We

– labs Purpose: For getting in RPA in our
product portfolio. This is new area and this
company is No:1 in space.Dean (SCIMS) &
HOD (CSE) have addressed the Academy
online course. HOD (CSE) advised the
students to utilize the opportunity provided.
Resource person Mr.Murugavel explained
about the course. He shared the web link to
the students for signup and to register the
course. It is the learning path and hence it
has a course package of various time limits.
It takes 12 hours totally to complete the
course package with flexibility anywhere
and at any time. Once completed, global
certification will be provided which has high
weightage for the job and career. Dead line
of course completion: February 20, 2020.
With these instructions, students continued
to take up the course.
 Short Term Training Programme on “Big
Data Analytics for Business
Intelligence” organized by the School of
Computer, Information and
Mathematical Sciences (SCIMS) from
16.12.2019 to 21.12.2019. The Short Term
Training Programme was Inaugurated on
16.12.19, Dr.A.Azad, Registrar, presided
over the Programme, Dr.D. Jairam,
Professor from Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT), Madras Inaugurated the
Programme by giving the Inaugural

Throughout the week Training Session was
handled by the Speakers from the Industry
(IBM, Agilisium), Institutions, the session is
filled with participants from the various
institutions and organizations. Dr.Pethuru
Raj and the team of Reliance JIO Info-
communications Ltd, Bangalore gave his
insights on Apache Spark and Machine
Learning training in the AWS cloud
environment. Expertise from our own
institute disseminated their knowledge and
gave hands-on sessions on Geo-Spatial
Data Analytics. Musical Data Analysis using
MONGO DB and Genomics Data analysis
using R programming. Dr.Pethuru Raj as

 Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp
funded by DST-NIMAT was conducted on
17th to 19th October 2019 in Seminar Hall
– II, Convention Centre. The main objective
of this Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp
(EAC) is to create awareness among the
faculty and students of Engineering and
Science courses on various facets of
entrepreneurship. 100 students from
Second, Third and Final year CSE were
participated in this awareness program.
The Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp
was inaugurated by Dr.A.Azad, Registrar,
B.S.A.Crescent Institute of Science and
Technology. The felicitation address was
given by Dr.Venkatesan Selvam Dean,
SCIMS . The Keynote address was given
by Dr.E.Bhaskaran, Deputy Director of
Industries and Commerce (Technical).
During the 1st day, experts from industries
shared their entrepreneur experiences and
gave valuable suggestions on Identification
of business opportunities. 2nd day,
business Concepts and Effective Business
plan preparation were discussed. IOB
senior manager explained the various
approaches to get finance. The third day,
some simulation activities and industrial
visit arranged.
