2. What is eve teasing ?
Eve teasing literally means annoying or
irritating women. It is referred to as an
act of harassing women playfully or
maliciously, physically or psychologically
to make fun, irritate, provoke, annoy,
embarrass through comments, remarks,
gestures, jokes, physical contact and
taunts.

3. Why eve teasing?
 Lack of interaction between Man and Women at school and college level. Frankly, the rate
of unmarried frustrated men indulging is eve teasing is higher than married men in India.
I have seen among my friend who were among the company of women tend to be more
empathetic and well behaved while those only with men were boorish and displayed lack of
emotion.
 Sex Education : Both men and women are not given free and fair sex education. Their only
education is biological functions of penis and vagina. They learn about sex seeing how
honey bee impregnates a flower ;).
 Laws on sexual and rights on sexual harassment : Both men and women are not taught
about their rights and law on eve teasing and sexual harassment. Once everyone is taught,
made understood about their rights and the struck laws on sexual harassment, things
would change. For example, if there is regular eve teaser in the community, the people can
make video of the person, collect witnesses and launch a FIR along with a lawyer. The
police will take the action.
 Patriarchal Society: Our society is patriarchal which is around dominating men. Even now
in tier 2 and backwards, the position of women is discriminated. They are still considered
good enough only for household work. It is pathetic but it is true.

8. Some defensive measures that
can be taken by a girl
 It should be necessary for every girl to have some
training of self defence to protect herself.
 Engagement of girls in some taekwondo, judo or
karate training to bring out the gutsy talent and
prove yourself.
 In this way you will also be able to save not only
yours but other girls life as well which will even teach
those non- humans the lesson of their life.

9.  Carrying small safety weapons with you not only
makes you feel safe but will even help to avoid any
kind of harassing situation.
 Whenever you feel that somebody is trying to touch
you or unnecessarily trying to get close to you just
take out the bottle and spray it in his eyes
 showing the knife can make the people around you
aware of the situation and can come for your help.
 Such kinds of techniques act as a part of self defence
and which will not only make the teasers learn a lesson
but will also give some strength to the other girls for
future of how they can protect themselves and fight
against the harassers
