Who would be the audience for your
media product?
 The audience for my music magazine would most likely
be young man and women aged around 16 to 25. I
know from my questionnaire that young people look for
informal text, lots of images and interviews with famous
musicians. I feel that my audience profile will be a very
similar one to the NME’s as it shares the same target
audience and focuses on the same genre of music. The
NME audience profile is shown on the next slide.
Who would be the audience for your
media product?
 I have found out through research that the average NME
reader is aged 25 and is predominantly male. I have also
found that the magazine is aimed specifically at people
between the ages of 17 and 30. The demographic of the
magazine is well educated with 34% of the readers working
in a full time job, 20% working part time and 26% being
students. This may explain why they would be able to afford
the magazine weekly. The readers of the NME are normally
modern and quite trendy.
Who would be the audience for your
media product?
 The average reader of my magazine would be similar to that
of the NME’s. I would attract this specific audience by
including new, upcoming bands in my articles and interviews
with bands that people of my magazines demographic age
have grown up with. Also I will not lose my target audience by
not using too much colloquial language as my target
audience will be well educated people and so may become
bored of my magazine if I use too much slang. The price of
my magazine is 20 pence cheaper than the NME which
makes it affordable of my audience also the use of
subscriptions would make it cheaper for part time workers
and students as they don’t make as much as full time
workers.
