14. Is the SME Instrument meant for you?
EASME Official Tips for your Application
Before you take a strategic decision to apply, look
carefully at the objectives of the work programme and
assess if your project is in line with them.
In a nutshell,
• you need a disruptive innovation,
• a clear ambition to grow at EU level,
• a demonstrated knowledge of your target market
• convincing commercialisation plan
A key aspect to remember is that you have to
demonstrate that your project ultimately has a
European or international dimension. If it’s targeted
only at a national market, it won’t be supported by the
SME Instrument.

What is changing?
• Removing the topics means that everyone competes
against each other;
• Scoring above threshold leads to meeting with
evaluation committee to defend the project – no more
automatic ranking of proposals;
• Total available funding will increase;

“After attending the very inspiring workshop in Munich we prepared our proposal
for Phase 1 and chose the ‘proposal evaluation’ service. The great feedback from
Kumardev and his team improved our documents substantially and helped us
achieve the threshold, but not the funding. Believing in our potential we applied
again, but this time we selected their product ‘proposal writing’. It finally worked
out (total score is 14 out of 15 points) and we received the valuable grant.
THANKS to everyone.”

“Their professionals are emphatic, fully skilled and 24/7 available in taking the

That's what we really needed: the commercial assistance helped us also to tailor

fair and professional also on this side.”
