1. ETRC events in April 2010
This month was dedicated to writing skills. According to the plan there had to beorganized 4 seminars for school
tecahers and a seminar for university lecturers. All of which were successfully held.
On April 01, Daniela Munca presented “Summarizing: tips and secrets”. There were 12 participants. The main
obejective f the semianrs was to present and practice scheme for writing summaries. Daniela Munca used additional
visual aids to make her seminar more appealing to the audience – power point presentation, video, handouts.
On April 15, Irina Cuzminih presented “Generation Gap”, there were 17 participants. The topic proved to be of
high interest for both teachers and students. it was included in
Bacalaureat exam inschools and luceums and in state exam in
university. During the seminar participants discussed causes
and effects of generation gap, discussed avideo concerning the
topic, learn new idioms and practiced them in speech, role-
played interesting conflict situations and tried to provide
possible solutions.
On April 16 FACE club hold their meeting, topic under
discussion was “Bridges between Chisinau, London and
Washington”. There were 6 participants in te discussion.
Ministry of education of Moldova sent a grouop of English teachers to qualification courses held at Ion Creanga
University, taking advantage of this situation, the first
lecture in the schedule was ETRC presentation on April
19th. They learnt about the center, its facilities and
events, which are organized for teachers free of charge. 27
teachers left tjeir contact information in order to receive
ETC news.
On April 21 Irina Cuzminih presented a seminar for
university lecturers, but the majority of the participants
included school teachers from the regions who were
having their qualification classes. Total number of
participants was 27. The topic of the seminar was “Amish
– simple people”. The participants learnt about the Amish way of life, discussed a tragedy that happedn in Amish
community and talked about school violence. The skills practiced during tehs eminar included: reading, speaking,
listening.
On April 28th Larisa Guzun presented a seminar “Beautiful Life (based on the 10th grade textbook)”. The seminar
was highy appreciated by the aprticipants because it was relevant to their demands. The total number of participants
was _________.
On Thursday 29th, Capraloc Cristina presented “Teaching Writing”. The seminars dealt with various techniques
and methods of rising students’ motivation for writing in class and at home. There were ______ people present at
the seminar.
Movie session was held on April 30 at 15:00, “Definitely, Maybe”. After that, the participnats discussed the
content of the film and shared their impressions.
