1. Ethics Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of ethics can be a challenging endeavor. Ethics is a complex and
multifaceted subject that delves into the principles of right and wrong, moral values, and the
intricacies of human behavior. Crafting an essay on ethics requires a deep understanding of
various ethical theories, philosophical perspectives, and real-world applications.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the vast array of ethical frameworks, each with its
unique set of principles and arguments. Whether you're exploring deontology, consequentialism,
virtue ethics, or any other ethical theory, articulating your thoughts and making a coherent
argument can be demanding.
Furthermore, the topic often requires a nuanced approach that acknowledges cultural, historical,
and individual variations in ethical beliefs. Balancing universal ethical principles with the
relativity of cultural norms adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
Moreover, discussing contemporary ethical issues or case studies demands a thorough analysis of
real-world situations. This requires a keen awareness of current events, legal considerations, and
societal perspectives, which can be time-consuming and intellectually demanding.
Developing a well-structured essay on ethics also involves critical thinking and the ability to
present a logically sound argument. It's crucial to anticipate counterarguments and address them
thoughtfully, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the complexities inherent in
ethical dilemmas.
In conclusion, writing an essay on ethics requires not only a solid grasp of ethical theories but
also the ability to apply them to real-world situations. It demands critical thinking, research skills,
and a nuanced understanding of diverse perspectives. Despite the challenges, delving into the
depths of ethics can be a rewarding intellectual journey.

been the show that has influenced people from all about the globe, that is to say if
those influences are exceptional or inadequate. For ten years viewers have seen the
development, maturity, and loyalty of friendship; this gang of six introduces the
culture of the mid 1990s to the early 2000s and audiences are shown evidence of
change in modern society. In this longer episode of Friends, The Last One: Part 1 Part
2, viewers see the development of growth among the six companions. The
development of friendship among Ross, Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Joey, and Phoebe
takes some time. Not only does the group s relationship grow emotionally but also

Many may disagree on surrogate mothers because the paternal mother does not have
the same connection as a mother whose baby is growing and developing inside her.
Some may argue that Monica could not have kids, but that point can be fought with
the choice of adoption. Surrogacy was supported by a few states and traditional
surrogacy in the 1990s was not commonly nor legally supported. One case in 1990
explains how a surrogate mother wanted to have custody of the child after admitting
she had developed an emotional bondage with the baby. The judge denied her
custody and decided to have the child raised by his genetic parents. The judge thought
about the child s sake; he did not want the boy to grow up with the confusion of
having relationships with two mothers and a father. Judge Parslow stated to the
California Legislature that if any surrogate agreements withstand, the surrogate must
understand the psychological evaluation she will undergo. The Friends series
supported surrogacy and made it seem to society that it was
3. Preventing Fatal Driving Accidents by Teaching Teenagers...
In recent years, statistics show that over 5,000 teens per year are involved in fatal
accidents, in the United States. Some of these accidents are as simple as lack of
driving experience to quick access to full driving privileges at an early age, some
of these collision are life change or result in death. To reduces numbers of fatalities,
we most coach our youth to be safe driver. First step, as adult/parent(s) is let the child
show initiative in driving. This is important because the teen might not have an
interest in driving, when you(as the parent/adult) thinking they should be learningto
drive. Wait on the teen to show an interest in learning how to drive. I started teaching

Not want to overwhelm the teen with to much information dealing with the car, I
ended lesson after 15 to 20 minutes. Giving him time to retain and apply to next
lesson, to build confidence to drive with ease. The next lesson, I plan ahead to
drive in a empty parking lot so he can learn to make left and right turn with his
signals. This is showing him how to control a car by making smooth stop with the
car, backing up the car straight and safely while informing the other car use of his
next move. After many hours of no traffic in the empty parking lot it is time to
upgrade to the road and to slow moving cars. Making the interaction with other cars
means you need to learn some defensive driving skills such as; changing lanes, the
intersection, and maintaining safe driving distances from other cars. You want to
remember to do your lesson in the daylight in good weather because it make the
teen more focus on your words and what he/she is doing. In conclusion, all adult
/parent(s) should be active members in the a teen driving experience to ensure life
in the old and the young. Teen should have a clear understanding that driving is a
privilege and very serious situation that calls for them to be a safe driver. In recent
years, statistics show that over 5,000 teens per year are involved in fatal accidents,

4. Reviving Opheli Saving The Selves Of Adolescent Girls
While reading Mary Pipher s, Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent
Girls and Dan Kindlon and Michael Thompson s, Raising Cain: Protecting the
Emotional Life of Boys, I got a better understanding of the mindsets of teenagers in
todays society. I learned that countless girls and boys have the same inner battles
and do not even realize it. The two songs I chose that best represent ideas of woman
and manhood are Unpretty, by TLCand Stan, by Eminem. I believe these songs
support many of the stereotypes portrayed in both of the class readings and hold
strong messages that can impact the views of girls and boys alike. They address
many struggles that teenagers today may be going through but afraid of speaking
about openly.
In Reviving Ophelia, Pipher takes us into the minds of teenage girls and evaluates
the ordinary troubles they encounter. She explains how girls tend to let the opinions
of others influence their interests and appearance. They visualize how others
perceive them and based on this, they form a self perception. This perception can
either be a positive or negative one. Generally if a girl establishes a negative self
perception, they have an urge to alter whom they are to gain approval. They crave
acceptance from others so much that they usually through great lengths to get it. The
problem is that many girls don t accept themselves for whom they are and Unpretty
speaks to those girls in particular. The song is by the popular 90 s R B group
5. The Importance Of Superheroes In The Classroom
The first day, the teacher should be prepared for anything that can come up through
the day such as knowing the emergency exits just in case of any drills, where to get
the text books or supplies, what to do if the child gets sick in the room, how to
contact the office or janitor, and if it rains to know where to pick up the students (17
18 classroom discipline and control: 101 practical techniques). Also having the
classroom in a way that can welcome them and make them feel safe. According to...
One way to do this is to decorate the classroom as superheroes. Superheroes are
important because they are a good influence and they help them to find solutions
where they can find courage to deal with situations of their life. They help them to be
brave and on the other hand, it helps them understand that they have vulnerabilities
and limits that make them unique because they see superheroes outside their
costumes and see that they are real human beings just like them that deal with real
problems but they stick with it and stay good. Another thing that influences them for
good is that they see a hero like Robin and how he is a sidekick. This teaches them
that they do not have to be the center of attention to be good, impacting, and
successful. Students can see that they are different but that should not stop them from
being successful (http://privatetherapist.london/superheroes how they influence
children/). Management can also be used with superheroes with having a clothespin
6. Vibrio Fischeri Is A Bacterium That Served As The Model...
Vibrio fischeri is a Gram negative bacterium that served as the model organism in this
experiment. We isolated only the luxAB portion of the entire lux operon and inserted
it into the pGEM vector plasmid to transcribe the luciferase enzyme required for
bioluminescence. Within the lux operon, luxAB is responsible for producing
subunits that form luciferase, which oxidizes the aldehyde made by luxCDE into the
reduced flavin mononucleotide FMNH2 and results in the production of light known
as bioluminescence[6]. The luxI genethat is also present on the operon produces the
autoinducer which interacts with a regulator, LuxR, [and] activates transcription of
the lux operon at high cell density to induce bioluminescence[4]. This interaction
between the products of luxI and luxR is known as quorum sensing and serves as an
evolutionary purpose in the symbiotic relationship with Euprymna scolopes, a type of
squid that contains the light organ where the bacteriaresides[6].
In the first portion of the experiment, Vibrio fischeri chromosomal DNA was isolated
by lysing the bacterial membranes and removing the proteins and lipids. Addition
of a lysozyme solution breaks down the peptidoglycan layer in Gram negative
bacteria and proteinase K/SDS degrades the proteins and disrupt the membranes.
Liquid liquid extraction using Tris buffered phenol permits separation of proteins
and lipids from the DNA into the organic layer. It is also essential that the isolated
DNA is pure and free of

Not to worry, since this is not too complicated but involves a bit more creativity
and imagination. Prepare some water, some fabric paint and a few sponges. For
more simple shapes, use regular sponges (square, circle) but if you want to take your
roller blind decoration a step further, purchase some sponges in different shapes like
flowers, animals, fruits or simply make some on your own.
You could probably do this while the blind is still hanging, but we would suggest
you take it down to make your work smoother. Dip the sponge into some previously
determined color and swiftly press it onto the blind surface. Make sure you apply
enough color, since you do not want your bunny shape to turn into nothing more than
a smudge. Repeat the process as many time you like, changing the colors and shapes

8. Information, Personal, And Social Media
When most people leave the house everyday they are not considering the multiple
ways they are being monitored. They are not contemplating whether the personal e
mail they just sent using their company s seemingly secure private e mail service
is being screened by their employers or whether their banking activity is being
monitored for patterns aligned with terrorism. Many would assume that simply
having a password to access your e mail would keep out unwelcome eyes. With
technology becoming such an increasingly important aspect of our daily lives,
personal and work related, many are starting to debate whether or not it is correct
for an employer or the government to be able to access someone s personal
information. This includes, but is not limited to, as outlined in Charles J. Sykes
essay, medical information, personal e mail correspondence, social media account
information, a person s voice mail, what you have stored on your computer, and your
credit reports (Sykes 19). Some argue that this is an infringement on a person s right
to privacywhile others argue that businesses and government officials have the right
and need to monitor personal information. In Chapter 3 of Are Privacy Rights
Being Violated? (2006) Charles J. Sykes argues that employees rights to privacy are
being heavily infringed upon. He states that the Freudian dream where a person
arrives at school or work undressed is a direct comparison to the ...modern American
workplace, and argues that Many of us
9. Pseudocode Standard
PSEUDOCODE STANDARD Example Pseudocode is a kind of structured english
for describing algorithms. It allows the designer to focus on the logic of the
algorithm without being distracted by details of language syntax. At the same time,
the pseudocode needs to be complete. It describe the entire logic of the algorithm so
that implementation becomes a rote mechanical task of translating line by line into
source code. In general the vocabulary used in the pseudocode should be the
vocabulary of the problem domain, not of the implementation domain. The
pseudocode is a narrative for someone who knows the requirements (problem
domain) and is trying to learn how the solution is organized. E.g., Extract the next

Two keywords, REPEAT and UNTIL are used. The general form is: REPEAT
sequence UNTIL condition The sequence in this type of loop is always performed
at least once, because the test is peformed after the sequence is executed. At the
conclusion of each iteration, the condition is evaluated, and the loop repeats if the
condition is false. The loop terminates when the condition becomes true. FOR This
loop is a specialized construct for iterating a specific number of times, often called
a counting loop. Two keywords, FOR and ENDFOR are used. The general form is:
FOR iteration bounds sequence ENDFOR In cases where the loop constraints can
be obviously inferred it is best to describe the loop using problem domain
vocabulary. Example FOR each month of the year (good) FOR month = 1 to 12
(ok) FOR each employee in the list (good) FOR empno = 1 to listsize (ok) NESTED
CONSTRUCTS The constructs can be embedded within each other, and this is made
clear by use of indenting. Nested constructs should be clearly indented from their
surrounding constructs. Example SET total to zero REPEAT READ Temperature IF
Temperature gt; Freezing THEN INCREMENT

11. Segmentation And Target Market Analysis
Segmentation and Target Market Paper The fundamental component of Market
segmentation is a market based strategy. Market segmentation strategies are generally
used to identify and further define the target customers, and provide supporting data
for marketing plan elements such as positioning to achieve certain marketingplan
objectives. Businesses may grow product differentiationstrategies, or an
indistinguishable approach, concerning specific products or product lines subjectable
to the specific requests and qualities of the target segment. A market segment deals
with descriptive characteristics and specific group of customers with distinctive
customer needs. It also involves dividing a broad target market into subsets of

In October 2013, the company launched a music download service provided by
7digital. When advertising a product for this company, the price of products in the
market should always be set under fair price. When a company evaluating different
market segments, they must consider of three factors, that is, growth and segment
size, segment structural attractiveness and also company s resources and objectives.
(Armstrong G. Kotler P, 2005) The company s market segment opportunities are
certainly revealed by market segmentation. For all effective market segmentation,
these distinctive categories have met the criteria as they are easily identified. All of
the needs that can/will be demanded by customers will be comprised. A variety of
video and music in each store is available for purchase so that customers can have
tangible access through online in store. The diverse categories of each DVD and
music units are of different target markets and each segment can be addressed with an
individually targeted marketing mix. This approach generally offers a wide
assortment of advantages for both, customers and the business. Hence, HMV is using
the geographic, demographic, behavioral and psychographic approaches in their
market segmentation. The market identification as well as segmentation of targeted
markets is the most important element of each strategy. This particular company has
to evaluate the various segments
12. Animal Experimentation And Biomedical Ethics Essay
Animal activists and scientists experience ongoing conflict between animal
experimentation and biomedical ethics. Animal testing is one of the oldest methods
of experimentation. In the 1980s, the animal rights movement and the argument
surrounding the ethics came under fire. As a result of this movement, the
experimental procedures became public, giving more incentive to the activists and
momentum to their cause. The ethics of animal experimentation come into question
in everything from beauty products to the food and vitamins that are sent to
consumers worldwide. However, because of the industries involvement within animal
experimentation, many consumers do not know how these products they are
purchasing are tested. Although the ethics of experimentation have come into
question, new ideas of experimentation have progressed. Within the biomedical field,
new testing methods for both medicine and beauty products have evolved. Because of
this new technology, activists against animal experimentation argue that the necessity
of animal experimentation is unneeded. In contrast, scientists argue it is not outdated.
Despite the progress made by the activists many scientists still believe that animal
experimentation will be needed. Although animal testingmay have served as a useful
tool in the past, it no longer is as accurate as the new technology and research
methods from the 21st century.
Biomedical ethics within corporate experimentation has been a controversy for years,
but
13. Theme Of Guilt In The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne was a famous american author. Hawthorne s most famous novel
The Scarlet Letter was written in 1850. Throughout this novel, Hawthorne explores
many different types of themes. In his novel, The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel
Hawthorne uses symbolism of The Scarlet Letter, Pearl, and the Leech to contribute
to the overall theme of guilt.
To begin with, Hawthorne uses the scarlet letter A to contribute to the theme of Guilt.
The townspeople no longer see a beautiful woman Hester Prynne, the protagonist of
this story, the same way before her sin. They see nothing but a shameful, sad, pitiful,
breathing sin, and disgraceful woman who committed a horrific crime of adultery.
Hawthorne explains, the good wives explaining This ... Show more content on

This quote explains how Pearl is bringing great pain and guilt in Hester s life for
committing adultery. As the novel continues, the townspeople see Pearl for
nothing but a sin baby. Although her name Pearl meaning pure, purchased with
great price, and Hester s only treasure, she is now only sin and Hester s guilt.
Hester feels guilty that she has brought Pearl into the world because now her baby
is known for sin and that s what the townspeople will forever see Pearl as, a sin
baby. Hawthorne explains, The rumor the townspeople had spread that Pearl was a
child of a demon and born out of sin (Hawthorne 82). This quote shows that the
townspeople whisper about her and speak of Pearl being nothing but a sin baby.
Pearl being alive is bringing guilt to Hester everyday.
Lastly, Hawthorne uses the leech to contribute to the theme of guilt. Hawthorne
purposely uses the term leech for physician because of its obvious double meaning.
As a doctor, Chillingworth, he is self absorbed and both physically and
psychologically monstrous and lusts for revenge against Dimmesdale, seems to be
making complicated medicines that he learned at the feet of the Indians; he also
appears to be sucking the life out of Dimmesdale, he and Hester became lovers.
Although he will not confess it publicly, he is the father of her Pearl. Hawthorne
explains, He s learned enough to get by as the physician, but he acts as the leech with
Dimmesdale, keeping so close to the man that he s almost

Whale Rider Essay
Whale Rider directed by Nicki Caro has won many awards such as Critic s Choice
Movie Award for Best Young Performer and Independent Spirit Award for Best
International Film. The award winning film explores the many privileges, obligations
and duties of the leaders and potential leaders in protagonist Pai s Maori community.
Caro does this through characterisations of Pai, and her supporting characters, such as
Koro, her grandfather. He believes that his duty was to establish a new chief with no
modern compromise. Pai, on the other hand, she has to prove to Koro that the
traditional ways need to adapt like the world around them. So, minor characters also
had roles, duties and expectations throughout the film that they had issues fulfilling.
The film displayed the theme of duty specifically through Koro. Koro had to obey
ancient traditions but he also had the sacred role to establish a new male chief.
Koro s dedication to the traditional ways allowed no compromise, even if it was
defeating. At the beginning of the film, Koro tells Nanny Flowers that Pourangi
would have another child He ll have another child even though his wife and one of
the twins had just died. He never acknowledges Pai and focuses on himself and his
job to find the male chief. He even tries to set Pai s father Pourangi up with Pai s
school teacher. Pourangi showcases his artwork to his family but a picture of his
partner showed up. Pourangi explained that it was his pregnant

The first recorded violence between Arabs and Jews in 1882, and only increased as
more Jewish people immigrated to Palestine, and the development of Palestinian

by the Arab population as a threat to their national identity. During the 1920 s
relations deteriorated between the Arab and Jewish populations, and led to
hostility between the two group becoming more intense. In 1921 the first major
riots in Palestine against the Jewish population erupted, the Jaffa riots. The
escalation of tensions between the two groups led to the 1929 Palestine riots. In
these riots Jews were massacred in Hebron, and devastation took place in
Jerusalem and Safed. Finally, there was the 1936 39 Arab revolt in Palestine.
During the revolt, Palestinian Arabs rioted and murdered Jews. The revolt was
instigated by the Supreme Muslim Council in 1936. The outbreaks of violence
were responded to by the British with several reports, inquiries, and commissions.
The Haycraft Commission of Inquiry in 1921, the Shaw Report in 1930, the Peel

17. Debt For Nonrecourse Debt
Foreclosures and amounts realized from a nonrecourse debt are treated differently as
if an individual is not personally liable for repayment. The amount realized includes
the full amount of debt before the foreclosure regardless if the fair market value of

debt is inapplicable as the debt is satisfied by the repossession of the property. In

Advantages of having a distribution center in Mexico
One advantage to having a distribution center located in Mexico is that we wouldn t
have to export the food from America. This will cut down on cost because the
consumers will be in a much closer proximity to our product than if we were
headquarter in America. This will allow our consumers to receive their orders
quicker, and more efficiently. Since the products transportation time will be cut
down, this will result in fresher food for the customers. Another advantage is we will
be contributing to the growth of the Mexican economy by hiring local citizens. This
will also be beneficial to us because the Mexican minimum wage is less than that in
the United States.
Disadvantage of having a distribution center in Mexico

In regards to (a) social facts, Durkheim refers to ideas, values and concepts that a

previously it was illegal for blacks to own anything. Now there are wealthy white

occurred throughout the time, black people identified themselves as lesser and
subordinate to white people and this social fact delegated the social interactions in

Headaches and alternative treatment options...
Almost everyone has experienced a headache in their lives. It is top of the list for
most common pains, and possibly the major underlying excuse in your life if you
miss something. It may come up suddenly while you are sitting at your desk and
working on a challenging task, at a stressful moment, or even at your sleep! You
may feel a belt is tightened around your head or can even be a throbbing type of
pain. Some of the headaches are periodic and a concomitant nausea may be felt. With
the involvement of stress as a factor, the pain might strike at the neck as well. Do all
these sound familiar with your experiences?

When treating of headaches are part of discussion, the strategies divide up according
to the underlying cause, although most of them obviously includes painkillers.
The most common type of headache is called the tension headache. This type of
headache is mostly due to a stressful condition, including challenging tasks, anxiety
and depression. Tension is term here referred to a spasm of muscles starting from
your shoulders and going up towards the head including the scalp. Tension headaches
are due to tight muscles in your shoulders, neck, scalp and jaw. If you experience this
type o headache, most likely it means that either you work to much, don t sleep
enough, don t drink enough water, use alcohol in a routine fashion, or don t just don t
sleep enough! Other common types of headaches include the publicly popular
headache called migraines and sinus headaches.
Although they all are uncomfortable situations, all of them do not require a
physician s attention, including the severe ones if they are in a routine fashion.
Most people can cope with headaches or find their own solutions in treating them,
sometimes by making small lifestyle changes, or learning a way to relax instead of
just heading to the medicine cabinet for a pain killer. On the other hand, sometimes
headaches are actually warning signals for serious disorders, so when you feel
something that you have never experienced before it is better to consult your doctor.

22. Examples Of Glitches In World Of Warcraft
World of Warcraft has some of my favorite examples of glitches that add to the
gameplay experience, bugs that cause frustration, and some flaws that are just
bizarre. One example of a bug making WoW more fun was wall walking , which
allowed players access to areas of terrain that are supposed to be inaccessible.
Techniques involving running up against hills and jumping, angling the camera in
different ways, and even toggling from running to walking can grant playersaccess to
areas of the world that are barren or incomplete.
Of the many bizarre bugs in WoW, one that provided for some memorable
experiences was the moving corpse glitch. Generally, when a player dies, their only
options are to wait for a resurrection from a fellow player or
23. Inflation And Its Effect On The Economy
Introduction
Inflation is another aspect of macroeconomic instability and is a rise in the general
level of prices in an economy. When inflation occurs, each dollar of income will
buy fewer goods and services than before and reduces the purchasing power of
money. **Inflation does not mean that all prices are rising and during periods of
rapid inflation, some prices may be relatively constant while others may fall. Almost
all prices are set by supply and demand, and if the economy experiences inflation, the
overall levels of prices rise. Measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), two types
are demand pull and cost push, and affects the nominal and real interest rates,
unanticipated and anticipated inflation, nominal and real interest rates, and
hyperinflation.
**According to Investopedia, Finally, inflation is a sign that an economy is
growing. In some situations, little inflation can be just as bad as high inflation. The
lack of inflation may be an indication that the economy is weakening. As you can
see, it s not so easy to label inflation as either good or bad it depends on the overall
economy as well as your personal situation. (Investopedia).

24. Two Major Components Of Lactate Dehydrogenase In
Biology
Lactate dehydrogenase is an enzyme that is found in most living organisms which
catalyzes the conversion of lactate to pyruvic acid. It converts NAD+ to NADH
and back again. Pyruvate is converted to lactate when oxygen isn t present and the
reverse reaction takes place (Wikipedia). There are two major subunits of lactate
dehydrogenase which are the M form and the H form. The M form, major subunit in
muscles, is efficient in the conversion of pyruvate to lactate. The H form, major
subunit in the heart, is efficient in the conversion of lactate to pyruvate. Despite the
differences in structure of the M and H form, there s enough similarity for hybrids of
the M and H form to form (Goodsell).
The oxidization of lactate requires the binding of NAD+ to the enzyme first before
lactate. A hydride ion is rapidly transferred in either direction yielding a mixture of
the two teranary complexes, enzyme NAD+ lactate and enzyme NADH pyruvate.
The dissociation of pyruvate from the enzyme followed by NADH takes place.
The rate of dissociation of NADH is the rate limiting step. This remains valid in the
reverse reaction as the binding of NADH takes place first and then the substrate,
pyruvate, is able to bind (Busby). The reverse reaction of pyruvate to lactate is the
thermodynamically favored reaction. When oxygen is insufficient, it s purpose is to
restore NAD+ to allow glycolysis to continue without stopping (Aalto). Although this
reaction has a Gibbs Free energy value is 200kJ/mol, 93%
26. New Imperialism In Europe During The Late Nineteenth
Century
During the late nineteenth century, there was a huge conflict between European
countries. This conflict was for overseas territories. This was called New
Imperialism. What were the motives? Social, economic, and political reasons urged
the New Imperialism movement to grow. Economics played a major role in New
Imperialism. There was a great demand for natural resources, such as rubber, tin,
and oil, in the Western countries. The search for these natural resources caused the
countries to expand. Instead of trading, they decided to take direct control over the
territories where the resources were found. The growth of European industry,
increase in production capacity, and excess amount of capital made it necessary to
find new markets, new sources of raw materials, and new areas for capital investment
in bigger countries. Additionally, economic expansion urged for cheap labor and

Social Darwinism (survival of the fittest) was closely tied to New Imperialism. It
justified European countries taking over Africa and Asia. Europeans were superior to
Africans and Asians. European countries was willing to use this theory because it
fits their interest all around the world. They believed they are the strongest race and
would bring the civilization to the ignorant. Religion and education influenced
Europeans to take over less civilized people as well. They felt the obligation to
spread their religion and rule over ignorant, non civilized people. Missionaries,
doctors, and colonial officials felt it was their duty to spread western blessings, or
their medicine, law and religion. Colonialism was seen as natural and certain, and
justification was given through Social Darwinian. Europeans saw natives as weak
and unfit to survive. They believed that they were the superior race, and those who

On March 5, 1770, five English colonists were killed in Boston, Massachusetts, by
British soldiers. This day will forever be known as the Boston Massacre. It all
started with a British sentry who was stationed in Boston. The sentry faced verbal
harassment from colonists in the town. Eventually, the group grew larger, and the
British sentry called in eight additional soldiers for backup. The large mob of
colonists began to physically attack the colonists with clubs and other weapons,
leading to the British soldiers to fire on the colonists. The colonists were to blame for
the events that occurred on March 5, 1770, because they verbally tormented the
British, threatened them with weapons and largely outnumbered the British soldiers.
First, the colonists were to blame for the Boston Massacre because they verbally
tormented the British. The colonists even tricked the British into firing on them by
telling the soldiers to fire. The colonists had told the British to, Fire, fire, and be
damned (Doc 2). This shows how the colonists instructed the soldiers to fire on them.

The large mob of colonists were assaulting the British with snowballs and clubs.
British Captain Preston described how, one of the soldiers [had] received a severe
blow with a stick, stepped a little on one side and instantly fired (Doc 4). This
shows how the British were instigated to fire, as the colonists brutally assaulted
them with clubs. Captain Preston went on to say how he was also struck by a club,
as well as being pelted with snowballs. The use of these weapons forced the British
soldiers to fire, as they needed to defend themselves from any further attacks.
Overall, the British were physically harassed by the colonists, which shows how the
colonists were at fault for the events on March 5,

The Ethiopian Jews, also known as the Beta Israeli s have struggled to fit into the
Ethiopian society; Between the Islamic and Ethiopian Orthodox religious groups in
the Gonder region of Ethiopia, many of the Beta Israeli s have been isolated and
discriminated against due to their religion. The derogatory term, Falashia, is what
most Ethiopians refer to as the Beta Israeli. The Gonder region is the rural side of
Ethiopia, where modernization seems unreachable. The Ethiopian Jews use farming
methods for food and water. Since their main focus is on agriculture and survival,
education is far from their main concern. The way of life in Gonder made the

29. Nepotism Is The Most Important Asset
Nepotism Employee is the most important asset in an organization. One of the goals
of the Human Resources Management in the company is to ensure that all employees
are being treated with dignity and equally. However, there are barriers that are
avoiding the situation from happening. One of them is nepotism. Nepotism that
derived from Latin word Nepot can be defined as unprofessional act that shows
favoritism to the relatives (Wikipedia). Nepotism usually occurs in business
managementand political affairs, but we will only discuss nepotism in business
company management. Nepotism can contribute to lots of disadvantages to an
organization such as unfairness to other employees, lower employees morale and
pressure to the relatives themselves.
First and foremost, the disadvantage of nepotism is unfairness to other employees
(Jones). The feeling arises because the employer shows favoritism only to the
relative s workers. There is possibility that non family employees will feel
disappointed and biased when they are being treated like that. Management who
practice nepotism will always make their relatives prior than other employees. Some
example of unfairness would bias while positioning job, assigning task or distribution
of benefits and rewards to employees unfairly. There is a significant relationship
between unfairness with employees motivation that influences the downward or
upswing of motivation level by the employees.
The second disadvantage of nepotism is lower
30. Essay about Early Childhood Stage of Development
Early Childhood Stage of Development
The developmental period known as early childhood ranges from the years two to
six. These years are often called the play years. During this time play flourishes and
supports all of the phases of life. Early childhood has many physical developments
like body growth, brain development, and motor development. During this time both
gross and fine motor skills develop dramatically. Children can walk upstairs with
alternating feet, ride a tricycle, and even catch a ball with their hands. They can also
put on and remove simple clothing items, feed themselves, and draw their first
pictures of people.

Our fourth obstacle is also dealing with colors. There are three cones setup. Under
each cone is a car. Two cars are blue and the other car is silver. CJ s job is to find
the silver car. He must look under the cones until he finds the silver car. Next is
another physical activity. CJ must stand a certain distance, measured by a piece of
tape, from a bucket. The object is to throw the three balls into the bucket. This tests
the development of arm motion and coordination. Finally, the last obstacle deals
with conservation. Conservation is the idea that physical characteristics of objects
remain the same when their outward appearance changes. This comes from Piaget
s preoperational stage. We had two glass filled with the same amount of liquid. CJ
was asked if the two glass had the same amount. Next we poured one glass of liquid
into a bowl, and asked if they had the same amount or if one had more. Of course CJ
could not answer this question. In early childhood, children cannot conserve.
All of the cognitive activities deal with Piaget s theory. In early childhood, children
move from the sensorimotor to the preoperational stage. During this stage there is a
drastic increase in representational, or symbolic activity. In Piaget s theory on
education, he believed in three principles. He believed in discovery learning, which
states that children are

In The Stranger, Albert Camus suggests the question of whether Meursault s peculiar
behaviour is demeaning and dehumanizing in an Algerian society with many cultural
and social expectations. Albert Camus portrays Meursault s story with the lack of
emotion. In doing so, Camus forces the reader and the judicial system to find
Meursault peculiar and immoral. Meursault s lack of emotion is perceived as a lack
of humanity by the Algerian society. In this thought provoking novel, Albert Camus
uses the recurring idea of versatility and indifference to elucidate the perplexing
behaviour of the protagonist. Meursault s emotional detachment from society
ultimately results in his dehumanization, followed by his condemnation. Camus

32. Social Class Differences On The Long Run Essay
Income equality has been on a steady rise since 1970 in both the United States and
Europe. Over the past several years, many researchers, such as Thomas Piketty and
Emmanuel Saez have been conducting and publishing empirical studies which
indicate that economic inequality is growing in wealthy countries, like those in
Europe and the United States. In fact, according to a graph published in Piketty and
Saez s study Inequality in the Long Run, both the United States and Europe s income
and wealth inequality generally decreased from 1900 1970, and then started
increasing in the time period after that. The results of this study suggest that social
classdifferences may be growing in the long run. This paper will examine this graph
from the perspectives of both Adam Smith and Karl Marx. Using Marx and Smith s
findings in German Ideology and Wealth of Nations, this paper will discuss Marx and
Smith s main theories on capitalismand describe how these theories can be applied to
the interpretation of the graphs in the study Inequality in the Long Run. This paper
will also discuss the similarities and differences between Smith and Marx s
interpretation of the data.
Smith s theory of capitalism, described in his book Wealth of Nations, discusses the
ideas of the division of labor, self interest, and the real value of products. According
to Smith, the division of labor arises from a human s ability to exchange goods. In
the Wealth of Nations, Smith discusses how it is a part of
33. Job By John Stump Analysis
Stump discusses the story of Job not to provide a theodicy or a defense for the issue
of suffering, but to interpret a specific solution to suffering as it pertains to Job and
his circumstances. Stump observes that contemporary interpreters often overlook the
dialogue between God and Satan, believing it is not philosophically or theologically
significant. In contrast, Stump uses the interaction between God and Satanas one of
two main explanations for Job s suffering. The other explanation is derived from the
dialogue between Job and God. Upon close examination of both aspects of the book
of Job, Stump argues that the idea and mechanisms of divine providence become
clearer. The first key line of the text draws conclusions from the second person
interactions between Job and God. From these interactions, Stump claims:
If an innocent person suffers, then, it will be only because a good and loving God,
engaged in second person interactions with his creatures, can produce out of the
suffering an outweighing good for that person that is otherwise unavailable for him
(191).
The second person interactions refer to Buber s concept of interpersonal interactions
between two individuals. This is also known as an I Thou relationship, and contrasts
with the idea of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would seem to be most logical to tell Job that he is not suffering due to any
actions he may have committed, but instead God only allows Satan to know this.
This seemingly odd decision is rationalized by Stump s claim that Job s suffering
was an act of love that Satan needed to experience firsthand, because love that is
given to an alienated person tempts, tugs, pushes that person to receive it (214).
Fundamentally, God was extending his love to Satan through this act in the hopes
that it would draw the two closer or at least prohibit further

One of the largest contributors to a high ecological footprint is related to personal
transportation and the construction, maintenance and operations of buildings3. When
more people are living in an area, the amount of energy and transportation needed
decreases and so does the area s ecological footprint3. This occurs because as
walking increases, the amount of personal driving decreases.
Another way Vancouver is working to reduce its ecological footprint is by
protecting land in the Green Zone 7. About 60% of the region s land is protected7.
This includes agricultural land, watersheds, and natural and recreational areas7.
These Green Zones will limit access and help preserve the region s natural capital.

that pattern as closely as you can. Most group you like will be similar to groups other

of your connections to join the group, but will that make the group productive?
Focus on people who work within the accounting industry or, perhaps, related
industries, when you are choosing someone to join in your on your fun. Smaller
groups aren t always bad; they create a camaraderie among members who are then
more willing to share bits and pieces of the way their businesses work or tricks they
have. Even if you only have fifty people in your group, that is still a lot of experience
to share!
Think about your group in the long term, not as temporary. The LinkedIn Search

Until 2030 doesn t come, cars in 2016 already have some autonomous
functionalities, for example BMW s selfparking system4 . Another important
technology is smart dashboards. Apple s CarPlay5 and Google s Android Auto6
are two of the big players in this new technology. Smart dashboards act just like
smart phones where users can read text messages, make calls, navigate maps and

functionality where users may control their radio and Bluetooth systems just by

to the Union of Concerned Scientists, the U.S. transportation sector produces nearly
thirty percent of all US global warming emissions. Their study shows that cars and
trucks together account for nearly one fifth of all US emissions, emitting around
24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other globalwarming gases for every gallon of
gas9 . Governments seem to be closely looking at this problem. In the United States,
new cars are required to have an economy label posted on the window sticker and
also must be certified to meet federal emission
43. Facebook Password Essay
Sharing Facebook Password
Employers and schools nowadays evaluate applicants from their social media
accounts. For example, the applicant s Facebook profile could be used to get
information such as age, residence and even academic history. What worries Joanna
Stern in the article, Demanding Facebook Passwords May Break Law, Say Senators
is the fact that employers and schools require employees and students to give their
Facebook passwords to access their profiles. This practice poses unanticipated legal
liabilities. Thus, government officials have rose against the practice. Indeed,
requiring a user to share Facebook account s password for access to the user s profile
is morally wrong and does not meet its intended objective.

Such information could cause organizations to make wrong conclusions on a user
based on the wrongful information on the user.
However, this practice has been noted to be beneficiary in understanding the
character of an employee or student. Going through their profiles would reveal more
on their relationships and interactions with other people. This would help
organizations get the rightful applicants because an error in this could result in
irreparable harm. Even so, as this practice becomes widespread, people would
always clean their accounts before interviews to depict the needful and erase the
undesired. This way, employers and schools would not gather useful information as
the profile would have been customized to impress. Additionally, people could
operate Facebook accounts to be used for interviews. Such accounts would contain
what would be considered desirable for interviewers. They would have other accounts
for normal socialization. Therefore, at the end of it, interviewers who access their
Facebook accounts get wrong information on the interviewee.
Despite the increased practice of requiring interviewees to provide passwords for
their Facebook accounts so as to analyze their profiles, the practice does not meet its
goals. It is an infringement into people s privacy thus illegal. More wrong than right
information would be retrieved as most people use disguised identities on social
media.

Abstract
Shutter Island is a film depicting several of the many facets of Abnormal
Psychology as defined and studied over the course of this term. Several of the
concepts discussed in our lectures and demonstrated during our classroom time were
evident and vividly depicted in the film including personality disorders past and
present; stress and anxiety disorders; psychosis, and mood disorders. There were
others subtly displayed in the film however, these listed were of primary focus and

So, if parents or guardians are spending less time with children, who or what is
teaching them right from wrong?
Like previous generations today s youth are greatly influenced by what they see and
hear. Outside of parents or legal guardians, the big screen, television, music, and
peers have the greatest influence over young people today. What is being
communicated to our youth falls short on doses of old fashioned morals and values.
Analysis on Family Morals in the 21st Century
Now, here is where things get a little complicated. Because as free moral agents we
each have a right to decide what has value or merit in our lives and our environment
could very well determine how our value system is formed. Boston University
professor and social scientist Glenn Loury raises some critical issues in his essay
Values and Judgments: Creating Social Incentives for Good Behavior. He claims
there are underlying factors that lie at the root of behavior. This is particularly true
when we examine dysfunctional behavior.
Dysfunctional behavior is thought to be more prevalent in impoverished
communities. Some debate that a common dysfunctional correlation exists among
individuals whether they live in poor, middle, or upper class communities. It appears
dysfunctional behavior is not limited to one particular segment of our population. If

45. Gender Discrimination Against Bank Of America
Diversity Compliance
There are many different laws set in place to provide equal fairness to the diverse
workforce. Some of those laws are Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the American s
with Disability Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and many state laws.
Even with these laws, discrimination still occurs within the workplace. This paper
will investigate a case of gender discrimination against Bank of America and what
could have been done to prevent this from happening.
Calibuso et al. v. Bank of America Corp. et al.
In 2010, a group of female financial advisors filed a national class action lawsuit
against Bank of America and Merrill Lynch under gender discrimination. The main
plaintiff, Judy Calibuso, worked in the Miami, Florida office since 1995 (Lieff
Cabraser Heiman Bernstein, 2010). In the lawsuit, Bank of America is accused of
favoring male brokers in merit pay, allocating client accounts and referrals,
partnership opportunities, and benefits. The plaintiffs had hoped to end the
discriminatory practices and policies and be awarded back pay from retaliatory
efforts (Lieff Cabraser Heiman Bernstein, 2010). After three years, they finally came
to a settlement awarding $39 million to a possible 4,800 current and former
employees (Stempel, 2013). The settlement also provided that Bank of America
needed to hire an independent contractor to oversee the improvements of their
practices and policies. Bank of America never admitted to any

A case study of energy supplements.
When a company suggests a retail price for its product it is within its rights to do so
because it is only a suggestion. However, when a caveat is added that the price of the
product not go below a certain price, this is a violation of the Sherman Act (Sherman
Anti Trust Act, 1890). Section 1 of the Sherman Act states that any agreements
among competitors to set a maximum or minimum price is a violation known as
horizontal price fixing (Twomey Jennings, 2013, p.80). On the other hand, when free
cases of the product are offered in exchange for purchasing a certain amount of the
product, this is not a violation because the marginal costs are different for larger

Many substances are wonderful for the human body, but can be dangerous at high
levels. For example, many people love almonds, they are sprinkled on ice cream,

the only problem with the bitter almonds is that they are full of cyanide (Frater,

47. King Conceptual System Theory
An Overview of the Conservation Model and the Conceptual System Theory
Everything in life has a purpose for their existence, and each human being is valued
for their strength, knowledge, power but a lack of capability for interacting with
their surroundings can bring many obstacles in their way in other for the meaningful
and desirable goals to be reached. King s Theory of GoalAttainment bring a great
concentration on the accomplishments of certain life goals and this can only happen
if the nurse and the patient has the capacity to communicate and work together, and
only then these life goals can be achieved (George, 2011).
Levine s model encourages the use of adaptation and maintains integrity, energy
through the process of conservation. This is can be done with the help of nursing care
and nursing involvements. With encouraging conservation, a nurse can assist in
promoting the person s well being (George, 2011).
Kings Conceptual System Theory King had many believe based on his Conceptual
System Theory, he believes that each person views and interprets the world as an
entire being in making transactions with individuals and things in their surroundings.
He also believes that the exchange or interaction represents a life situation in which
the interpreter and what is being interpreted unexpectedly experiences and in which
the individual enters the situation as a dynamic partaker and is individually changed

In From Virgil to Milton, Bowra claims that the Aeneid has survived the test of time
because it has helped men across generations formulate their views on the chief
problem of existence (34). Hence, due to its popularity, the thesis of this chapter
maintains that Virgil s new outlook on heroic virtue, human nature, and the
uncertainty surrounding human life marked out the main lines for epic poetry
(Bowra, 85). This paper will attempt to analyze this thesis regarding the Aeneidof
Virgil by Bowra and provide insightful critiques respectively.
For Bowra, Virgil exposes the faults of old heroic ideals set by Homer through the
tragedy that befalls Turnus and Dido, while strengthening the ideal that a man s
virtue is exposed less in battle and
49. The Switch To Indirect Imperialism
Due to the Industrialization of European countries during the late nineteenth and
early twentieth centuries, exploitative imperialism was the only viable option for
continued sustainable growth. The switch to indirect imperialism was a temptation
for governments in many countries, an idea which would continue their economic
growth following the ideals of free trade. This concept would then be practiced with
those regions of the globe indirectly managed by the imperial powers to gain similar
economic advantages to directly controlling the territory. By laying the usual colonial
responsibilities aside, the European empires could gain more money in the short term
from their possessions without the financial investments. This flavor of imperialism
was practiced when it followed a period of direct imperialism. Elsewise it was in
danger of losing the political capital that such systems relied upon. Due to its
inherent western concepts, the ideals of free trade required the subsidiary partner of
the indirect imperialism required a firm alliance in culture and political goals and
views to be successful when opposed to direct imperialism.
The costs of direct imperialism are incredibly varied and require an amount of
affluence from the home country that necessitates only the most wealthy and
successful states can attempt such an endeavor, even more time consuming is the
level of commitment required to succeed. Commonly, the land that is to be colonized

50. Analysis Of Crime And Punishment By Fyodor Dostoevsky
Fyodor Dostoevsky is a widely acclaimed Russian author and is known by some to be
one of the greatest and most influential novelists of the Golden Age of Russian
literature (Lauer). Dostoevsky s works frequently contain complex psychological
themes reflecting the merciless inhumanity of the Russian Empire during the
nineteenth century. Due to the presence of acute realism and integrity in these works,
Dostoevsky s deep perceptiveness of the world and ability to create nuanced yet
unified works of fiction are highly respected by numerous distinguished
psychologists, including Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, and notable Russian
novelists of his time (Snodgrass). In perhaps one of the most remarkable of
Dostoevsky s works, namely Crime and Punishment, Dostoevsky explores the far
ranging moral, religious, psychological, social, political, and artistic ramifications of
the breakdown of traditional structures of authority and belief within Russia that he
had experienced first hand during his lifetime (Heims). The preeminent belief, or
concept, showcased by Dostoevsky in Crime and Punishment is redemption through
suffering; classically defined as a process by which one experiences voluntary
suffering, whether it be through the medium of a problem or pain, for the benefit of
oneself or others. Dostoevsky s exceptionally human characters within Crime and
Punishment all encounter the colossal and perplexing issue of suffering as a result of
their life choices up until that point

52. The American Red Cross (ARC)
The American Red Cross (ARC) has long faced multiple ethical dilemmas
associated with various aspects of its operations. The Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) has been closely scrutinizing the organization related to its blood donation
services (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). In Canada, over 1,000 people; mostly
hemophiliacs dependent on life saving blood clotting products, have been infected by
HIV tainted transfusions and more than 500 Canadian hemophiliacs have
subsequently died of AIDS as a result of contaminated blood from the Red Cross

and Conduct in January of 2007 now requires that all employees read and sign the
two page document stating and acknowledging understanding of the company s

can call to voice concerns about the organization. They also published an Ethics
Rules and Policies statement that outlines the details about how business will be
conducted regarding business funds, property, allocation of time, addressing
conflicts of interest, recordkeeping and the handling of media inquiries (Ferrell,
Fraedrich, Farrell, 2015). While those are all effective tools to manage what has
happened in the past, the ARC will also need to ensure that they are not allowing
anything to damage their reputation going forward. To do this, they will need to be
diligent in their hiring practices; ensuring that they are following the same policy
and procedures for each employee and that expectations are laid out regarding
ethical behavior from the very beginning of employment. They will need to, at least
yearly, revisit ethical responsibility topics with all employees to keep those skills
fresh and on the forefront of everyone s mind. It will be imperative for the company
to continue to build itself back up from its previous failures and to ensure that they

terminology in how they discipline is expressed. For example, the scientific method

questions to prove their debates or theories. Religion, on the other hand, is more
closely related to philosophybecause both deal with beliefs and faith base systems.

Religion, on the other hand, looks at philosophy as it prodigy and also its own

with the idea of incarnation that god became Jesus, and philosophy has yet to debate

Philosophy and religion do have something in common that neither has a method

Religion plays a significant part in both The Interesting Narrative of Olaudah
Equiano by Olaudah Equiano, a former slave, and a series of poems written by
Phillis Wheatley, a former slave who resided in Boston. The Interesting Narrative
of Olaudah Equiano is a first person abolitionist slave narrative published in 1789
about Equiano s experiences during the Transatlantic Slave trade retelling Equiano
being forced from his home, the disparity from being moved from place to place,
and his discovery of Christianity. While the series of poems written by Phillis
Wheatley was created in the Revolutionary Era (1764 1789) during Phillis leisure

experience of slaveryand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When referencing the statement black as Cain, Wheatley alludes to the biblical
story of Cain and Abel. The story told in the bible, shows the dangerous result of
jealousy and anger. In the story, Cain and Abel two brothers who God asked them
to both bring a sacrifice. Abel brought his sacrifice to God the way that God
requested, while Cain didn t and his sacrifice was rejected. As a result, Cain became
angered and projected that anger onto Abel, eventually killing his brother. In order to
rationalize and continue the injustice of slavery, white slave owners people used the
concept of the rejected brother to validate the enslavement of Africans. But,
Wheatley opposes this view by saying that even Africans who bare the stain of Cain
can become refined and be forgiven when they accept Jesus Christ.
In his narrative, Equiano shares a similar sentiment as Wheatley regarding a
pivotal spiritual transition from darkness to light. On page 65, Equiano is exposed
to the concept of Christianity when he sees snow for the first time. He asks his
Captain who made the snow, the captain replies, ... a great man in the heavens,
called God... (Equiano 65). Then, Equiano recalls his experience going to church.
Equiano says, ...I was again amazed at seeing and hearing the service. I asked all I
could about it; and they gave me to understand it was worshipping God, who made us
and all things (Equiano 65). Nonetheless, Equiano s
