The Creation Of The New German Nation, Or What Would Become
The creation of the new German nation, or what would become known as the German Unification,
mirrored similar revolutions around the globe, including that of the Meiji Restoration and the Ita
lian Unification. Undoubtably, by the turn of 1871, a new German Empire emerged, but what
remains in uncertain territories, is whether this new German Empirewas created from above or
below. Neither position can be disregarded or invalidated, as the power of the people holds equal
significance to that of the people in power. However, as clearly highlighted by Ernest Renan in a
declaration of nationhood, we [the people] are what you make us; we are what you are ,
demonstrates the complex relationship between a nation, its leaders and their people.... Show more

The Danes and Alsace Lorrainers were inconvenienced by war, as their respective nations loss to
Germany had left their lands to be transferred from one nation to another and they somewhat
found themselves left to be an alienated minority in a new country that was not their own. While,
the Poles were the butt of historic German feelings of superiority , as they d generally found
themselves within the German Empire and along with the other minorities, they were all, in one
way or another, treated as actual or potential enemies of the Empire . Essentially, this was a
period of internal division in Germany , as the minorities of the Poles, the Danes and Alsace
Lorrainers combined with others that opposed the nature of the new German nation, including
many catholics, set the reality that although the new German nation had been created from above,
it was yet to be brought into existence below. This left the creation of the German nation to
mirror the reality of Italian unification, as highlight by Massimo d Azeglio we have made Italy,
now we have to make the Italians . Therefore, the German nation was created from above, but it
also needed to be created from below as well.
With the German nation having been created from above, it then needed its citizens to be created as
well. In order to combat the minorities, those that oppose the new German Empire and to truely

Trachea Research Paper
Air from the environment enters through the nasal cavities that are lined with a ciliated mucus
membrane that helps warm, filter, and moisten the air. The air then goes to the pharynx (where
oral and nasal cavity meet) and then down the main airway in the respiratory system or the
trachea. The trachea is made up of tough cartilage rings that keep the passageway open and are
also lined with ciliated mucus membrane that helps remove microscopic particles and bring them
back to the pharynx. The trachea contains the larynx or the voice box that vibrates when air
passes over it and the epiglottis that covers the trachea when you swallow in order to prevent
choking. The trachea then branches off into two bronchi that go to the lungs. The bronchi then
extend to smaller passageways called bronchioles located in the lungs that no longer have cartilage
rings. The alveoli are the air sacs surrounded by capillaries that are utilized for gas exchange. In the

When the oxygen leaves the hemoglobin by diffusing through the capillaries the cells are able to
undergo aerobic respiration at the mitochondria to get energy. The metabolic wastes that result
as end products of cellular respiration, such as carbon dioxide and water, are diffused out of the
cells and into the blood. The carbon dioxide is carried as a bicarbonate ion (CO3) in the blood
plasma. These molecules diffuse out of the blood through the capillaries and are exhaled. When
arteries bring blood to the nephrons in the kidneys, material dissolved in the plasma is able to be
filtered and reabsorbed, making nephrons the functional unit of excretion. The glomerulus is a ball

Hershey s Entry Into Turkey
Turkey is a country poised between Asia and Europe. This country of 71 million people is crucial
to economic developments as it lies between producers and consumers, supply and demand. While
seen as a bridge between the East and West, this majority Muslim country is also torn between both
worlds. Its secular government has a long history of struggles between those who feel their country

Hoseok-Personal Narrative
Y/n, when I said I wanted to hang out with you, this is not what I had in mind. Hoseok sat in his

You tore of your headphones, and faced him with your bottom lip childishly protruding out, Come

Yeah, and now I m terrified.
You walked toward him with a notepad in hand and softly smiled at his scared state. I really need

The Purpose of the Labor Relations Act
Over the last seventy five years labor related issues has went through a dramatic changed that
affects today labor movement. During the 1930 s the labor movement gained due to the
abundance of labor, employers easily replaced workers. Labor unions were established in order
for workers to get organized and bargain for their needs and rights. These unions were created
because it was known that groups have more power in bargaining than individuals. When large
groups of employees make joint decisions, employers are forced to listen to their concerns. For
example, if all the workers in a factory stopped working at the same time, it would be difficult to
keep the company operating. Early unions in North America faced a difficult battle. Employers
refused to accept the unions. The courts often declared the unions illegal. The National Labor
Relations Act of 1935 and other laws required employers to bargain with unions. Political parties
and other groups have also become involved with the labor movement (Labor Movement).
Understanding the legal ramifications involved both with and without a union is a necessity for
all human resource professionals. I will address the differences and similarities in employee
relations approaches in both types of environments. In addition reviewing key aspects of labor
relations law and the collective bargaining process, I will address the purpose of the Labor
Relations Act and what it provides for workers. From there, the purpose of the Labor

Comparing Beowulf And The Epic Of Beowulf
Anglo Saxons refers to settlers from the German regions that migrated to Britain during the fall of
the Roman Empire. In the story Beowulf, his actions portray him, indeed be an epic hero. Both
Christianity and Paganism are both portrayed throughout the epic Beowulf. Beowulf frequently
speaks of God throughout the story, while there are also many Pagan elements that are evident
throughout the story as well. In addition, It s hard to ignore the Christian and Pagan elements in
Beowulf. These types of elements are what define the heroic warrior in the epic Beowulf
(Vengeance the Pagan and Christian Inspiration). Throughout the epic Beowulf, while the Anglo
Saxons followed Christianity, they had a hard time letting go of the Pagan beliefs when things got
hard. First, references to the bible are one way that Anglo Saxons followed Christianity, while they
had a hard time letting go of the Pagan beliefs. One of the first Christian aspects in the story is
referring to how God created the earth. Furthermore, The Almighty created the earth, creating all
the beautiful landscapes that is marked off by the waters, and lighted by the moon and sun (The
Monster Grendel from Beowulf Translated by Burton Raffel the Monster Grendel 1). Furthermore,
in this quote the author portrays how the Almighty created the earth and how he gave life to
everything in the world. This quote is reminding us of the religious aspect of the poem because it is
a Christian viewpoint, only about Pagans. In

Korean War And Modern Warfare
War was once fought with rocks, and other debris. This progressed to swords, axes, bows and
arrows... Then we had guns. The revolution of weaponry far beyond the expectations of what
anyone expected. Finally, war is now fought with robots, drones, and the human body is no longer
required, but only the mind. The physical challenge that a soldier has to undergo nowadays is
incomparable to the endless demands during the First and Second World War. Modern Warfare is
the new War metaphorically and literally, and seems to be a fashion that will persist. Then again
did all these transitions in the mode of warfare have any positive outcome? The lingering conflicts
on both that scale as well as on a domestic one, are still prevalent then and now. So what can
subsequently terminate all of the above? This develops into further questions as to whether the use

violence or are there other peaceful alternatives?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Historical Critique Of The Canterbury Tales
Historical Critique on The Canterbury Tales The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer is one of
the few examples that show how similar our stories are today from the storytellers of the twelfth
century. But just like in today s world, all modern stories have influences. Most of the time it s
from the world around us and the time we are in. That is no different from The Canterbury Tales, as
Chaucer s tales contains many characters from many different walks of life and backgrounds.
Geoffrey Chaucers The Canterbury Tales provide a window onto medieval English society
(Roberts). All of whom come from lives very common during Chaucer s time period as well as the
setting that the story took place in. So to fully understand The Canterbury Tales, one must explore
the historical background of where and when Geoffrey Chaucer lived. The setting of The

Elizabeth expresses her love of Jane by explaining that she only wants to think her perfect (Austen
116).
The mutual trust between the women creates an environment that encourages openness with one
another and the ease of revealing information to each other. It is because of the pivotal aspect of
trust that Elizabeth is able to confide in her sister. This is proven when she related to Jane the next
day what had passed between Mr. Wickham and herself even though she kept the exchange secret
from everyone else and Jane listened with astonishment and concern (Austen 73).
Elizabeth s trust in Jane is strengthened by the weakening of trust in her dear friend Charlotte
Lucas. Elizabeth is, naturally, shocked when she hears that Charlotte is engaged to be married to
Mr. Collins mere days after Elizabeth herself had refused his hand in marriage. In as short a time
as Mr. Collins s speeches would allow, everything was settled between them to the satisfaction of
both (Austen 106). Jane s role as confidante is strengthened by this sudden marriage arrangement
because Elizabeth s disappointment in Charlotte made her turn with fonder regard to her sister, of
whose rectitude and delicacy she was sure her opinion could never be shaken (Austen

Position Paper On Declaration Of Independence
Position Paper
The Declaration of Independence states all the reasons why the colonies considered themselves
independent from England. Thomas Jefferson didn t believe in the reasons stated in the
Declaration of Independence. He simply used ideas from others to justify it. Jefferson says that all
men are created equal , and because of this they have certain unalienable rights. Thomas Jefferson
didn t think all men were equal. He refers to the Indians as the merciless Indian savages, whose
known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions. From
the way in which he describes them we can assume that he considered them inferior and
uncivilized. He was also a slave owner. A man, who did not believe that Indians and black people
are men couldn t use the idea that all men are created equal.
Jefferson says that among the unalienable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
These rights were originally John Locke s ideas, with the exception that he believed that property
was an unalienable right. The fact that Jefferson uses the pursuit of happiness instead of property is
proof that he didn t believe in these rights. If he really believed in them he would have mentioned
property. Perhaps the reason why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was taken to the Schouwburg, a place for captured Jewish people waiting to be deported to camps,
Hanneke and Ollie went on a mission to retrieve her. Hanneke discovers a very important truth
about the girl in the blue coat, it wasn t Mirjam.
Review:
Girl in a Blue Coat by Monica Hesse is an incredible fictional story written during real historical
events. What made the book interesting was that the author made the blue coat as a huge part of
the story, because that was the only noticeable information Hanneke had gotten about the Jewish
girl. It was fascinating to read about how some characters represented real life people that worked
together and tried to overthrow the German Regime. Monica Hesse laid out the themes of love,
loss, friendship, hope, and acceptance very well through the events that happen in the story.
Hanneke Bakker also grows as a character because she goes from having a strict business
relationship with her client to risking her life for them. Hanneke makes a very courageous

Native Americans During The Colonization
Native Americans during 1785 1829 were affected by western expansion because of the removal of
Native Americans from the land, white settlers attempting to assimilate Native Americans to their

the depleting number of Native Americans. Distorted perspectives of european settlers led them to
view Native Americans as uncivilized savages. As the Renaissance reached its ending term
Europeans saw their religion (Christianity) as an advanced culture. When Europeans arrived to the
New World in 1493 settlers discovered the native inhabitants were bizarre to the new settlers.
Further in time Settlers observed their culture and viewed their religion as evil and thought of the
Natives God as the Devil in disguise. As a consequence of their perspective of their religion Settlers
thought of them as animals, non human and branded the term savages to Native Americans. Since
Europeans viewed their religion as advanced setters thought of the idea of emerging Native
Americans into the white man culture and wanted to civilize the Native Americans. Native
Americans didn t like the idea of being rooted to the culture of the Europeans, so Europeans thought
of the solution of moving the Native Americans west so the native could preserve their culture.

Altruism within society s standards can be described as a selfless concern or action for others
(Webster s Dictionary 2012). On September 25, 2012, an Oregon teenager named Marcus Ugarte
bravely entered a burning house in order to bring a young child named Cody Ma to safety (ABC
News 2012). Both families had never met previously, but there was no hesitation on Marcus part
of climbing up to the second story of the house to save Cody. Marcus risked his own life and was
able to guide Cody out of the house and down the ladder. He is being heralded as a hero in his
community of Troutdale for his courageous actions. Another example of how altruismcan be
viewed in today s society can be seen in the works of Mother Teresa and her plethora of altruistic
acts throughout the globe. Although her focus was in India where she persued her novitiate
(training), her organization has opened over 500 centers around the world helping the dying and
the destitute (Moore 2002, pg. x). She took in the untouchables of society and gave them care and
made sure that they were comfortable. Mother Teresa is often used as the benchmark when
determining whether a selfless act is truly altruistic. Even in nature you see acts of altruism. An
example is the meerkat; who participates in a cooperative breeding and feeding, and community
guarding. The dominant males and females are the chosen , which are allowed to breed

We Screwed Up Analysis
The world we live in has made many mistakes, and it s far from perfect. In Chip Wards letter We
Screwed Up 2012 to his granddaughter Maddie. Chip tells us that he wants to apologize for his
and past generations mistakes of being ignorant. He is sorry for depleting all the natural
resources, the species going instinct, the chemical obsession and the increase in advertising he
refers to as confusion. Nevertheless, chip is sorry for using up all the natural resources. He says
it took millions of years for those layers of carbon goo to form under the earth s crust and we
used it all up in a geological instant (ward, 2012). He also talks about how we made everything
and anything out of oil. This is very true almost everything we have is made from a machine that
eats up oil fast. We need to have faith that our generation or that our next generations will be able
to develop renewable resources by the time these natural resources expire. Our generations have
come up with some amazing things. Who knows what s ahead in the future, but whatever it is, it
will be amazing. Chip even goes on to say we thought we were pretty smart cause we walked a man

We all know of the famous trial that happen on May 17, 1954, a trial that ended all segregation in
school districts all over the United States of America. With this law being enforce by the 14th
amendment, it change the whole nation, colored people were now being allowed to enter into real
academic schools, and compete for a better future. Of course I am talking about the Oliver Brown

. . . And since California law did not allow for separate Mexican schools, the requirement that
children at tend such schools could be considered arbitrary action taken without due process of
law. (Charles Wollenberg, All Deliberate Speed, 1976, p. 127) This case could not have gone to the
Supreme Court because the law of the state said nothing about segregating Mexican Americans in
the Constitution (http://www.cr.nps.gov/history/online_books/5views/5views5h99.htm) . On
Brown vs. the Board of Education it was a little different, because Black was considered a
different race; and according to the Plessey vs. Ferguson case of 1896, it states it could segregate a
race, as long as it provides a separate but equal law (http://www.cr.nps.gov/history/online_books
/5views/5views5h99.htm).
Now that we know a little bit more information about the trial, lets learn why all the Mexican
American parents got together in order for their kids to get the same education as all the other
Caucasian kids in the neighborhood. It all started in the late 1920s 1930s. As the Mexican and
Mexican American population started to increase in California, more white Americans started
getting scared; this led to segregation in schools. Not only were schools getting segregated but
housing was also being segregated as well (Maria Blanco, The Lasting Impact of Mendez v.
Westminster in the Struggle for Desegregation, pg.

The company has rebounded from a near calamity two years ago, and while it was a great
scramble, the company survived and is in the strongest position ever. They knew that the culture
had been strained by the episode and wanted sincerely to work to bring things back to normal. With
the assistance of local HR offices, a case was made to the employee population that certain aspects
of their current culture might have suffered over the past few years and that it was time to think
about change. They announced that they would be undergoing an organizational culture review and
that everyone s opinion was valued. A whopping 79% of the employees participated in the survey
that they administered. Senior management had worked with the consultants for a few months
before the survey was given and had determined their Ideal scores. The survey confirmed their
suspicions.
The table below provides you with the percentile scores from the employee population, the ideal
scores from management, and the percentage point difference between management s ideal and the
actual results. The typical ideal score for companies is also given as a reference point. The overall

Egypt under Mubarak
Egypt plays an extremely significant role as one of the major powers in the Middle East. Egyptian
force in the Arab world stems from the strength of its cultural life which makes it extremely
difficult to be ignored. The book, Egypt under Mubarak features essays from seven different
authors, which examine the causes and consequences of the many crises Egypthas faced. Mubarak
comes into power taking upon himself the previous Egyptian political, sociological, and economic
problems left by Sadat and Nasser. The present administration attempts to fix these problems by
employing Egypt s significant resources in the forming of a distinct and effective international role.

The book touches on topics with a broad range from politics to economy to geography. The book
is solely based on research of the Egyptian government from the time when Mubarak took power,
1981, up until the writing of the book which was in 1989.
Throughout the book, 16 books are cited. Even though the book is based on the government under
Mubarak, the writers refer to events that were held before Mubarak was put into power which
helps the reader understand the important history behind the present. After each chapter, there are
bibliographies as well as endnotes in some chapters listing the sources used in the passage. Except
for the Chapter on the National Debt where his previous statements based on The Central Bank of
Egypt, Cairo contradicts his final assessment of the sum.
The writers of each section always tend to agree with the sources that they have cited. With this
known, I was able to see that the writers in each chapter took into account the other writings of
scholars that wrote on similar topics. Because of the writers many sources, they are able to give
an unbiased look into the history of the Egyptian Government. They examine both the positive and
negative aspects of Mubarak as President specifically laws he passes and actions he takes towards
not only Egyptians, but also the Arab Israeli relationship, as well as foreign relations with Arab
countries and the western world. Charles Tripp goes into detail about the

A Report On The Home Security Level
. Despite the challenges we encountered, mu managed to offer the basic needs that could only
sustain us, but not provide us with a fancy life like the rest of my cohort. Mum could only afford a
small house located in a trailer park within the locality.
During one occasion while we attended a church service, the pastor observed that my mother
seemed incapacitated to offer sufficient care to me. Concerned about my safety, the pastor
requested the DYFS to perform an investigation regarding our home security level. The
investigations were made and the DYFS observed that the trailer park was not safe and conducive
to raise a child that was my age. Coincidentally, mother suffered a mental breakdown and got
admission at a hospital for treatment. During the treatment, the medical staff miscalculated her
medication and gave her an overdose of the prescription triggering a coma and nearly killing her. I
nearly ended up in a foster home had my grandparents not accepted to adopt me. The grandparent s
place was a reasonably good place, and they provided me with care I needed while mom was away.
During this time, my mother s condition was stabilized and I kept visiting her at the hospital.
My experience both at my mother and grandparent s place made me develop a number of qualities
that not only enhanced my survival, but also enabled me to develop skills that are relevant in both
social and economic panorama. Most of these skills and qualities have enabled me to develop

Certainty In The Crucible
Flip Flopping In the prompt provided, I refute the idea that an absolute sense of certainty
accomplishes virtually anything, because having no further input on an issue means it could be
biased or wrong. Especially in politics, I believe that you can t always believe everything has a
definite answer, you must see both sides on an issue and address it from there. Examples of this
can be shown through Max Born s philosophy, the history of Adolf Hitler, and The Crucible .
Therefore, I support the idea of flip flopping being a negative attribute, because a leader must
address all sides of a situation and gather information before he sides with his supporters. They
should not choose a side solely based on their follower s opinion. In the article... Show more content

In the town of Salem, Massachusetts, people were too afraid to confess their sins, so they
blamed them on others. They accused others of witchcraft in order to get vengeance. It was a
toxic town. The judge, Danforth, firmly believed that witchcraft was real, and refused to take
any other input from his fellow town members on what could be the cause of it. Due to his
absolute sense of certainty on this issue, he sent hundreds of men and women to be hanged for
witchcraft. He felt a sense of leadership to keep Salem from going insane, so he fed into their
beliefs and did what he thought would earn peace and a following. A quote from Danforth in the

These groups rely on technology to communicate with one another and to accomplish the tasks
allocated by the organization. One benefit of a virtual team is that they use technology and this can
help increase efficiency and productivity of the members. The virtual teams also assist in the
development of intellectual capital. The composition of the virtual groups helps improve quality as
well as the outcome. The other benefit is the efficiency of communication. Some of the challenges
include the distance between the members. The significant distance may dilute leadership, weaken
human relations as well as amplify dysfunction. Virtual teams are hard to manage especially when it
comes to goal setting, task distribution, coordination and member motivation. Virtual organizations
rely on trust that the other members will fulfill their roles since it is not possible to monitor them

Essay on Class Struggle and the Communist Manifesto
Class Struggle and the Communist Manifesto The Communist Manifesto is profoundly marked by
the history of class struggle and social inequality throughout history. In fact Marx suggests that
history is in essence merely a timeline of class struggle, unchanging apart from the alteration in
mode of production. The document is the story of the conflict between the Proletariat and the
Bourgeois, the oppressed and the oppressor, the haves and the have nots, etc? However, this is not
a new idea and Marx is really not all that radical. In his Politics, Aristotle wrote, ?Those who have
too much of the goods of fortune, strength, wealth, friends and the like, are neither willing nor able

Stephen Hoch in a study that he conducted on a small Russian village called Petrovskie makes
some insightful inferences about the serf system there. In Russia, as well as Europe in the 17th
century, the serfs were ?managed? in a way that more closely represented exploitation. Very little
was invested in improving the state of the land that they cultivated and instead the emphasis was
placed on compelling the serfs to produce more. Meanwhile the landowner merely reaped the
benefits and rarely reinvested in the venture. This study is relevant because it was taking place at
the same time as the Manifesto was being written.[v] The system led to a series of revolutions
because as Hoch deduced, ?Serf behavior and attitudes were in fact an integrated human response to
the ecological constraints at work in the society and to the inhumane degradation of being reduced
to property.?[vi] Its existence during the Enlightenment is an indicator that social inequality is the
child of economics. Stanislav Ossowski states that class itself is the result of economic criteria
paired with class consciousness and consciousness of common interests.[vii] When men like

Leisure Activitie Social Disengagement Theory
Objective The goal of this presentation is for you to understand that leisure programs are not just
about the activity itself, but about the social connections it provides for the attendees. Older age
is a transitional period when people experience changes not only in physical health but also in
social roles that can influence opportunities for social participation. Social connectedness is a key
component of healthy aging that should be promoted in recreational programming for older
adults. Key Messages Social disengagement theory is a classic social psychological view which
holds that older adults isolation results from a gradual and irreversible abandonment of social
roles, narrowing role sets, and the weakening of existing social bonds. This point of view is now
often contrasted with Activity and Continuity theories which note that older adults who adjust to
later life transitions by remaining socially active are happier and healthier. This is an exciting
transition as policies and programs begin to incorporate the idea of social connectedness, rather than
merely occupying the time of older adults. Leisure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relationships, conversations and practicing new and old skills provides cognitive stimulation for
individuals. Leisure programs can also act as a support system for older adults, as well as
provide accountability. For example, many older adults who live alone have poor nutrition
because they do not enjoy eating alone, community dinners provide an opportunity to engage in
conversation, but it also increases the chance of the individual eating a proper and balanced meal.
Additionally, leisure programs can provide resources for individuals to find and receive the care
they need. These positive health outcomes suggest the prevention of social isolation is an important
step in increasing the quality of life of older people and reducing public expenditure on medical
costs for this

New Issue Of New Federalism
New Federalism is known as commitment to returning powers to the state governments.
Proposed by President Ronald Reagan, who believed federal grants were just a scandal of
imposing the federal interests on the states. Reagan believed that federal government would allow
a more efficient government within the states and the nation. This reminded America of the main
point now of the 10th amendment that because the states are created under the the federal

known as Competitive Federalism due consent struggle of the national and local government

to states with less restrictions and states and they were given a choice on how to spend these
grants. With this concept, many laws were made in order to enforce this New Federalism: the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act of 1995 disallowed Congress from passing federal programs or

aspects similar to each other, when used with the proper moderations. When used for twenty to

The Man Who Killed A Shadow By Richard Wright
Richard Wright s short story entitled, The Man Who Killed A Shadow showed the reality and
truth of a black man s life and how quickly it can be jeopardized when race and sex are mixed
together. When I began reading the story I felt heartbroken for the main character because he just
seemed like a good human being. Saul basically grew up with no role models to guide him in his
life and his parents and grandmother died when he was a young boy. Saul quickly had to adapt to
these changes and began working to support himself. When Saul began working at a young age he
did not understand why the shadows or white peoplesaw him as inferior. This was something that he
noticed that black peoplejust seemed to accept and he began to accept it as well even though he
had no idea why. Saul had to continue to work for the white shadows became increasingly
unhappy with the way his life was going. The narrator states, At the age of fifteen Saul knew
that the life he was living was to be his lot, that there no way to rid himself of his plaguing sense
of unreality, no way to relax and forget (187). It was extremely depressing to me that Saul knew
at the age of fifteen that this was the reality of the rest of his life. He knew he would never be
happy and that he would have to work for the white shadows in order to feed himself. One of the
ways that Saul copes with his unfortunate reality is by drinking heavily. It is the only thing that
takes his mind off of his daily life and made him

Why the Levi Advertisements Were Successful Essay
Why the Levi Advertisements Were Successful
Levi s began to manufacture jeans around the 1870s, and jeans were originally working men s
clothing. During the 1950s people aged 13 19 became known as teenagers, prior to this people
were all either children or adults. Jeans became popular clothes for teenagers because they were
seen as a sign of rebellion against parents and authority. The jeans wearing teenagers then grew up
and become parents meaning that the next generation of youngsters saw older people wearing the
jeans and refused to wear them. This forced jeans to become unfashionable throughout the early
80s. In the mid 80s Levi s hired a highly successful advertising company (Bartle Bogle ... Show

Life Of Pi Internal Conflict
2. One of the main conflicts of the Life of Pi is that between Pi and himself. For 227 days, Pi
was at sea with thoughts to himself thinking of how he was alone and orphaned, in the middle of
the Pacific (Martel 107). Being by yourself in the ocean with no idea of if you are going to
survive can lead to negative thoughts. Especially since Pi could only rely on himself. While he
did have Richard Parker, he couldn t talk to Richard and expect a reply. His conversations were
too himself and he had to remain sane through this internal conflict. Along with this, he has a
conflict with himself and his lack of knowledge on how to survive at sea. Pi had many questions on
his survival like What would I eat? What would I drink? How would I keep the sharks away? How
would I keep warm? How would I know which way to go? (Martel 147). The answers to all of his

simply leaves, much to Pi s disappointment. The event is highly unceremonious and Pi says he
was certain he would turn my way. He would look at me. He would flatten his ears...In some
such way, he would conclude our relationship. He did nothing of that sort (Martel 284). It was a

displeased with this heart wrenching conclusion, I am satisfied with it. I do wish that Richard

The Theme Of Forgiveness In The Power Of One Peekay
Forgiveness can have different reason for forgiving and different ways it would effect a person.
There is forgiving someone for just being rude or calling someone names. There is forgiving
someone for harming them mentally or physically. No matter the reason for forgiving someone the
impact can be big on the person doing the forgiving. In The Power of OnePeekay and a few others
forgive people for harming them or just insulting them. Peekay is the one who forgives people
most often. Peekay was still able to forgive the Judge after he wronged him multiple times. He
still had it in his heart to do so. Peekay also would forgive the Judge because he realized that what
the Judge had done to him had improved him physically and mentally. Even though Peekay was
able to forgive people that didn t mean he was able to forget the things they had done to him. He
was still hurt by the way they treated him. In The Power of One, Bryce Courtenay uses the theme
of forgivenessto demonstrate how Peekay can forgive after many hardships, how Peekay can
forgive someone because the way they wronged him helped him later in life, and how forgiving
doesn t always mean forgetting. Courtenay expresses the theme of forgiveness by using Peekay as
an example of how someone can forgive even after many hardships. Throughout the story Peekay is

more knowledge about the characters in the game, as well as how they play against other
characters. So someone who is newer to the game might not realize that, when X character is up
against X champion, That they won t do as well as that profesional player did. By copping
something that another player has done that worked for them, does not mean it will work for
everyone and it most certainly wouldn t make a player better. It requires knowledge that comes

Essay on Newfound Popularity of Books From the 1900 s
How many books were published from 1920 to 1959? 792 and that s only the bestsellers. Four of
the books published within this time frame weren t bestsellers, but they are some of the most
famous books of the 20th century. Those books are The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Winnie The
Pooh, and Mein Kampf. But why weren t they bestsellers if so loved now? Many critics say that
The Lord of The Ringsset the standard for all epic fantasy books written since it was published.
This marvelous trilogy was published in 1954, after J. R. R. Tolkien, the author of this fantastic
series, took 10 years to write it. Yet, Tolkien never expected his books to be such a success

Christopher named the bear Edward Bear, and while he loved him very much, he also fell in love
with a real American Black Bear that he often visited, and even went in the cage with, at the
London Zoo. It wasn t until 5 years after Christopher received Edward bear that the book Winnie
The Pooh was published, the official date being October 14th, 1926. Nearly 2 years after the
publication of Winnie The Pooh a second collection of Pooh Bears stories were published,
introducing the world renowned Tigger in The House at Pooh Corner. While A. A. Milnehand wrote
the entire manuscript for BOTH books, it was Ernest H. Shepard who shaped the famous look
by his illustrations of both Winnie The Pooh books. Shepard was a devoted man, which showed
when he traveled to the Hundred Acre Wood, or the real version located in Ashdown Forest near

Classic Pooh stuffed animals and see how they are different. Speaking of different, Mein Kampf
is no normal book. It was written by Adolf Hitler whilst pacing in a jail cell in 1923 1924 and
later in an inn at Berchtesgaden. The book was dictated to Rudolf Hess, Hitler s deputy leader in
the Nazi party, and originally titled by Hitler, Four and a Half Years of Struggle against Lies,
Stupidity, and Cowardice, but his Nazi publisher shortened it to Mein Kampf, or my

Overactive Bladder In Children Research Paper
Overactive Bladder, Child
Overactive bladder is a group of urinary symptoms. Your child may suddenly feel the need to pass
urine (urinate) right away. Your child might also leak urine after feeling this sudden urge if he or
she cannot get to the bathroom fast enough (urinary incontinence). Leaking urine is not always
unusual for children. Many young children leak urine during the day or at night. Children usually
develop better bladder control by age 6 or 7. However, sometimes these symptoms interfere with
your child s daily activities.
Overactive bladder affects the nerve signals between your child s bladder and brain. The bladder
may get the signal to empty before it is full. Very sensitive muscles can also make your child s
bladder contract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Diversity Personal Statement
In 1998, when my mother and I arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, I
understood one thing about our big move. I understood that we had left our small village of
Bogoso, Ghana to escape harsh conditions and to cultivate a better life here in the land of the
free. I would be lying if I said that I immediately developed a genuine appreciation for my
Ghanaian heritage. The truth is, it took several years for me to appreciate the cultural, religious,
and ethnic aspects of who I was. Fearful that it would become an outcast amongst my American
peers, I spent the earlier parts of my life resisting my Ghanaian heritage and running from diversity.
As years went on, I realized that fitting into America meant being yourself and celebrating how you
got to where you were. By high school, fitting in meant experiencing more diversity and
determining what my convictions were. I joined the international baccalaureate program and
challenged myself in the classroom while celebrating diversity. I also began working with The
Hardy Trust organization in 2011 to construct and start the Simikade... Show more content on

Lord Voldemort Research Paper
A film wouldn t be complete without a villain. The entire film would be pointless and boring,
villains makes everything so exciting. Imagine Batman without Joker, Harry Potter without
Voldemort, Professor X without Magneto, Thor without Loki, and Luke Skywalker without
Darth Vader. Some people loves to hate villains especially if those villains are portrayed by such
amazing actors. They said that if the villains in a film or a television show is not hated by its
viewers, that would mean they re not doing a good job at it. However, there are villains that are
just so good that people actually loves them more than the main protagonists. According to a
research conducted by Jens Kjeldgaard Christiansen from Aarhus University in Denmark, people s

Lord Voldemort is portrayed by the amazing British actor, Ralph Fiennes. One of the reasons
why he is such an unforgettable villain is the fact that he is pure evil and a real psychopath. He
is not capable of feeling any positive emotion since he never felt any affection. He is extremely
sadistic, because he just loves to torture anyone, he finds pleasure when somebody dies or gets
hurt. He was conceived with a use of a love potion and grew up in an orphanage before getting
into Hogwarts. He longs for power to be able to rule both the wizarding world and the muggle
world with all of his loyal followers. No one matters to him besides himself, he is considered to
be the most self centered villain. What makes him so frightening is that he is incredibly skilled
and clever that it seems so impossible to outsmart him. However, what gives people the creeps
is his looks, J.K. Rowling, the author, made sure to make him look like a snake, hence why he
doesn t have a nose, his skin also looks so pale that makes him look like he s not human at all,
and most of all, his expressions and the way that he smiles looks like he just came out of hell.
They younger versions of himself were extremely creepy as

Divergent Plates Are Formed From Plate Tectonic Plates
I know that mountains are created from plate tectonics. Convergent plates are made out of the
lithosphere. The lithosphere is the rocky outer part of Earth containing the crust (the thin layer of
rock under the land) and the mantle (a layer of mostly silicate rock that is directly under the crust).
Convergent plates are tectonic plates that collide and scrape against each other to form geological
features such as mountains and volcanoes. Mountains and volcanoes form when one convergent
plate slides under another one, causing a subductionzone. A subduction zone is a geological
process that takes place at a convergent plate boundary. One plate moves under the other and is
forced to sink because of the gravity in the mantle. When this happens, molten rock (lava) is forced
to the surface. This causes volcanoes to form.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mountains can also form when convergent plates smash into each other. Furthermore, stream
erosion made a path for the river that runs through the Rocky Mountains. I can infer that water
collected on the ground and then slowly trickled down a slope, carrying rock and sediments
away with it. Overtime, more and more rain/water collected in the stream which made it grow
wider. Now, a long, wide, and deep river has formed. Finally, I can see where abrasion could have
made the bottom of the mountains smooth and curved. I think that pieces of rock could have fallen
off some of the mountains in the Rocky Mountain Range (maybe due to ice wedging). When they
fall, they rub on the base of the mountains. This chips part of the rock off and smooths it

My Spiritual Autobiography
My Spiritual Autobiography
How did your relationship with God begin (when and where)?
It started off slow and by slow I mean really slow. My father was a deacon and my mother was
the Sunday school teacher for the kids and adults, My Spirituality was something I don t think
much about as a kid. I was more in to Power Ranger and Ninja Turtle that anything else. My mom
and dad tried to make god a part of my life but it don t work. I was just a little kid and all I want
was to play.
That was my spiritual life until the day my dad dead. It was a just other day and my dad was in
his favorite chair and then the next thing I know he hit the floor. The doctor said that it was a
massive heart attack but to a 9 year old my dad is gone because god ... Show more content on

What factors led to your initial encounter with God? There was many factor that led to my initial
encounter with god one was my father death. Other was the questions of a teenage looking for
his place in the world and other factor was the hate I had toward god. The death of my father
was hard for me for so many years. All the question I want to ask him all the thing I want to do
with him I never got a change to do. This made me want to know why god would take a father
form his son whom look up to him. My hate toward god was one factor to because the more I
hated him the more I would find myself look in the word trying to find out why god would take
my father. The most important factor I think was the fact that I was a teenage and was feeling
like I don t belong to anything. I was good at sport and have a good time at that. I know there
was more to me than just sports. I was quiet and shy and look like I was mad at the world all the
time but I know that was more to me.
How did your family of origin affect your relationship with God? My family origin had God all in
it. I don t know this fact for a long time. I know my mom and my dad spiritual life because I saw
it firsthand. I don t know my grandparent spiritual life until much later in my life. My family was
a group of people that rejected new ideas and different spiritual system. I have a family member
that was Muslim. The old people in my family really

My Experience In My Basketball Game
We lost seven of our first nine basketball games. All we had to do to start winning was lose our
starting guard me to injury. I broke the fourth metacarpel in my left hand just below the ring
finger during Christmas break of my senior year. Of the nine games we played, I started all of
them, and we lost all but two of them. Then, after my injury the team won sixteen of their last
eighteen games. I could have learned many lessons from this experience, such as I should have
given up basketball nine games earlier, or everyone contributes to the team effort some just do it
better from the bench. But, I learned much more than that. Coach Ernst looked a bit surprised
when I showed up dressed out and ready to practice with my bulging left forearm the next day.
(In addition to the fiberglass cast, I wrapped it with a bit of padding and an ace bandage to
prevent any more injuries to teammates.) I realized that he expected that I would sit and watch
practices and still be a part of the team at least in name, but I know he was surprised when I was
ready to still work hard; especially considering I really had little chance to play the rest of the
year. I realized that no one would push me except myself in this situation. So, I practiced hard
that day, and every other day. The only reward was that I knew I was pushing myself as hard as I
could, and by so doing I was also pushing my teammates. Sweating profusely in a cast packaged up
in an ace bandage created a stench that made the

  • 2. The Creation Of The New German Nation, Or What Would Become The creation of the new German nation, or what would become known as the German Unification, mirrored similar revolutions around the globe, including that of the Meiji Restoration and the Ita lian Unification. Undoubtably, by the turn of 1871, a new German Empire emerged, but what remains in uncertain territories, is whether this new German Empirewas created from above or below. Neither position can be disregarded or invalidated, as the power of the people holds equal significance to that of the people in power. However, as clearly highlighted by Ernest Renan in a declaration of nationhood, we [the people] are what you make us; we are what you are , demonstrates the complex relationship between a nation, its leaders and their people.... The Danes and Alsace Lorrainers were inconvenienced by war, as their respective nations loss to Germany had left their lands to be transferred from one nation to another and they somewhat found themselves left to be an alienated minority in a new country that was not their own. While, the Poles were the butt of historic German feelings of superiority , as they d generally found themselves within the German Empire and along with the other minorities, they were all, in one way or another, treated as actual or potential enemies of the Empire . Essentially, this was a period of internal division in Germany , as the minorities of the Poles, the Danes and Alsace Lorrainers combined with others that opposed the nature of the new German nation, including many catholics, set the reality that although the new German nation had been created from above, it was yet to be brought into existence below. This left the creation of the German nation to mirror the reality of Italian unification, as highlight by Massimo d Azeglio we have made Italy, now we have to make the Italians . Therefore, the German nation was created from above, but it also needed to be created from below as well. With the German nation having been created from above, it then needed its citizens to be created as well. In order to combat the minorities, those that oppose the new German Empire and to truely ... • 3. Trachea Research Paper Air from the environment enters through the nasal cavities that are lined with a ciliated mucus membrane that helps warm, filter, and moisten the air. The air then goes to the pharynx (where oral and nasal cavity meet) and then down the main airway in the respiratory system or the trachea. The trachea is made up of tough cartilage rings that keep the passageway open and are also lined with ciliated mucus membrane that helps remove microscopic particles and bring them back to the pharynx. The trachea contains the larynx or the voice box that vibrates when air passes over it and the epiglottis that covers the trachea when you swallow in order to prevent choking. The trachea then branches off into two bronchi that go to the lungs. The bronchi then extend to smaller passageways called bronchioles located in the lungs that no longer have cartilage rings. The alveoli are the air sacs surrounded by capillaries that are utilized for gas exchange. In the pulmonary capillaries, oxygenis loaded from the alveolar air into the bloodand the carbon dioxideis unloaded from the blood into the alveolar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the oxygen leaves the hemoglobin by diffusing through the capillaries the cells are able to undergo aerobic respiration at the mitochondria to get energy. The metabolic wastes that result as end products of cellular respiration, such as carbon dioxide and water, are diffused out of the cells and into the blood. The carbon dioxide is carried as a bicarbonate ion (CO3) in the blood plasma. These molecules diffuse out of the blood through the capillaries and are exhaled. When arteries bring blood to the nephrons in the kidneys, material dissolved in the plasma is able to be filtered and reabsorbed, making nephrons the functional unit of excretion. • 7. The Purpose of the Labor Relations Act Over the last seventy five years labor related issues has went through a dramatic changed that affects today labor movement. During the 1930 s the labor movement gained due to the abundance of labor, employers easily replaced workers. Labor unions were established in order for workers to get organized and bargain for their needs and rights. These unions were created because it was known that groups have more power in bargaining than individuals. When large groups of employees make joint decisions, employers are forced to listen to their concerns. For example, if all the workers in a factory stopped working at the same time, it would be difficult to keep the company operating. Early unions in North America faced a difficult battle. Employers refused to accept the unions. The courts often declared the unions illegal. The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 and other laws required employers to bargain with unions. Political parties and other groups have also become involved with the labor movement (Labor Movement). Understanding the legal ramifications involved both with and without a union is a necessity for all human resource professionals. I will address the differences and similarities in employee relations approaches in both types of environments. In addition reviewing key aspects of labor relations law and the collective bargaining process, I will address the purpose of the Labor Relations Act and what it provides for workers. One of the first Christian aspects in the story is referring to how God created the earth. Furthermore, The Almighty created the earth, creating all the beautiful landscapes that is marked off by the waters, and lighted by the moon and sun (The Monster Grendel from Beowulf Translated by Burton Raffel the Monster Grendel 1). But just like in today s world, all modern stories have influences. Most of the time it s from the world around us and the time we are in. That is no different from The Canterbury Tales, as Chaucer s tales contains many characters from many different walks of life and backgrounds. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elizabeth expresses her love of Jane by explaining that she only wants to think her perfect (Austen 116). The mutual trust between the women creates an environment that encourages openness with one another and the ease of revealing information to each other. It is because of the pivotal aspect of trust that Elizabeth is able to confide in her sister. This is proven when she related to Jane the next day what had passed between Mr. Wickham and herself even though she kept the exchange secret from everyone else and Jane listened with astonishment and concern (Austen 73). Elizabeth s trust in Jane is strengthened by the weakening of trust in her dear friend Charlotte Lucas. Elizabeth is, naturally, shocked when she hears that Charlotte is engaged to be married to Mr. Collins mere days after Elizabeth herself had refused his hand in marriage. In as short a time as Mr. Collins s speeches would allow, everything was settled between them to the satisfaction of both (Austen 106). Thomas Jefferson didn t believe in the reasons stated in the Declaration of Independence. He simply used ideas from others to justify it. Jefferson says that all men are created equal , and because of this they have certain unalienable rights. Thomas Jefferson didn t think all men were equal. He refers to the Indians as the merciless Indian savages, whose known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions. From the way in which he describes them we can assume that he considered them inferior and uncivilized. He was also a slave owner. A man, who did not believe that Indians and black people are men couldn t use the idea that all men are created equal. Jefferson says that among the unalienable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These rights were originally John Locke s ideas, with the exception that he believed that property was an unalienable right. The fact that Jefferson uses the pursuit of happiness instead of property is proof that he didn t believe in these rights. If he really believed in them he would have mentioned property. Perhaps the reason why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When somebody is killed their right to life is taken away. To correct this misgiving, I suggest that a proper research be conducted in regards to Jackie Chan from renowned journalists, who may find it a pleasure to access and interview Jackie Chan himself. Hanneke discovers a very important truth about the girl in the blue coat, it wasn t Mirjam. Review: Girl in a Blue Coat by Monica Hesse is an incredible fictional story written during real historical events. What made the book interesting was that the author made the blue coat as a huge part of the story, because that was the only noticeable information Hanneke had gotten about the Jewish girl. It was fascinating to read about how some characters represented real life people that worked together and tried to overthrow the German Regime. Monica Hesse laid out the themes of love, loss, friendship, hope, and acceptance very well through the events that happen in the story. Hanneke Bakker also grows as a character because she goes from having a strict business relationship with her client to risking her life for them. Hanneke makes a very courageous ... Examples of this can be shown through Max Born s philosophy, the history of Adolf Hitler, and The Crucible . Social connectedness is a key component of healthy aging that should be promoted in recreational programming for older adults. • 35. The Man Who Killed A Shadow By Richard Wright Richard Wright s short story entitled, The Man Who Killed A Shadow showed the reality and truth of a black man s life and how quickly it can be jeopardized when race and sex are mixed together. When I began reading the story I felt heartbroken for the main character because he just seemed like a good human being. Saul basically grew up with no role models to guide him in his life and his parents and grandmother died when he was a young boy. Saul quickly had to adapt to these changes and began working to support himself. When Saul began working at a young age he did not understand why the shadows or white peoplesaw him as inferior. This was something that he noticed that black peoplejust seemed to accept and he began to accept it as well even though he had no idea why. Saul had to continue to work for the white shadows became increasingly unhappy with the way his life was going. The narrator states, At the age of fifteen Saul knew that the life he was living was to be his lot, that there no way to rid himself of his plaguing sense of unreality, no way to relax and forget (187). It was extremely depressing to me that Saul knew at the age of fifteen that this was the reality of the rest of his life. He knew he would never be happy and that he would have to work for the white shadows in order to feed himself. One of the ways that Saul copes with his unfortunate reality is by drinking heavily. It is the only thing that takes his mind off of his daily life and made him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why the Levi Advertisements Were Successful Essay Why the Levi Advertisements Were Successful Levi s began to manufacture jeans around the 1870s, and jeans were originally working men s clothing. During the 1950s people aged 13 19 became known as teenagers, prior to this people were all either children or adults. Jeans became popular clothes for teenagers because they were seen as a sign of rebellion against parents and authority. The jeans wearing teenagers then grew up and become parents meaning that the next generation of youngsters saw older people wearing the jeans and refused to wear them. This forced jeans to become unfashionable throughout the early 80s. In the mid 80s Levi s hired a highly successful advertising company (Bartle Bogle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Life Of Pi Internal Conflict 2. One of the main conflicts of the Life of Pi is that between Pi and himself. For 227 days, Pi was at sea with thoughts to himself thinking of how he was alone and orphaned, in the middle of the Pacific (Martel 107). Being by yourself in the ocean with no idea of if you are going to survive can lead to negative thoughts. Especially since Pi could only rely on himself. While he did have Richard Parker, he couldn t talk to Richard and expect a reply. His conversations were too himself and he had to remain sane through this internal conflict. Along with this, he has a conflict with himself and his lack of knowledge on how to survive at sea. Pi had many questions on his survival like What would I eat? What would I drink? How would I keep the sharks away? How would I keep warm? How would I know which way to go? (Martel 147). The answers to all of his questions were things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite Pi s internal conflict with himself, Pi experiences a great conflict with Richard Parker, depending on how the reader interprets the book. It is one of the most obvious conflicts of the Life of Pi and is resolved when Pi and Richard Parker reach land. Upon reaching land, Richard Parker simply leaves, much to Pi s disappointment. The event is highly unceremonious and Pi says he was certain he would turn my way. He would look at me. He would flatten his ears...In some such way, he would conclude our relationship. He did nothing of that sort (Martel 284). It was a resolution that went out in a whimper in both Pi s opinion, as well as my own. While Pi is displeased with this heart wrenching conclusion, I am satisfied with it. I do wish that Richard Parker did have that one final look at Pi, but I think this simple conclusion brings out a certain emotion in Pi, along with the reader, that would not occur had there been an extravagant ending. This conclusion brought me an immense sadness and longing, almost as if I were Pi in the situation, and I think writing of that power is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Theme Of Forgiveness In The Power Of One Peekay Forgiveness can have different reason for forgiving and different ways it would effect a person. There is forgiving someone for just being rude or calling someone names. There is forgiving someone for harming them mentally or physically. No matter the reason for forgiving someone the impact can be big on the person doing the forgiving. In The Power of OnePeekay and a few others forgive people for harming them or just insulting them. Peekay is the one who forgives people most often. Peekay was still able to forgive the Judge after he wronged him multiple times. He still had it in his heart to do so. Peekay also would forgive the Judge because he realized that what the Judge had done to him had improved him physically and mentally. Even though Peekay was able to forgive people that didn t mean he was able to forget the things they had done to him. He was still hurt by the way they treated him. In The Power of One, Bryce Courtenay uses the theme of forgivenessto demonstrate how Peekay can forgive after many hardships, how Peekay can forgive someone because the way they wronged him helped him later in life, and how forgiving doesn t always mean forgetting. Courtenay expresses the theme of forgiveness by using Peekay as an example of how someone can forgive even after many hardships. Throughout the story Peekay is continuously having struggles with bullies, losing people, and trying to start his boxing career. The person who caused him the most amount of pain was also the ... • 45. Divergent Plates Are Formed From Plate Tectonic Plates I know that mountains are created from plate tectonics. Convergent plates are made out of the lithosphere. The lithosphere is the rocky outer part of Earth containing the crust (the thin layer of rock under the land) and the mantle (a layer of mostly silicate rock that is directly under the crust). Convergent plates are tectonic plates that collide and scrape against each other to form geological features such as mountains and volcanoes. Mountains and volcanoes form when one convergent plate slides under another one, causing a subductionzone. A subduction zone is a geological process that takes place at a convergent plate boundary. One plate moves under the other and is forced to sink because of the gravity in the mantle. When this happens, molten rock (lava) is forced to the surface. This causes volcanoes to form.... I could have learned many lessons from this experience, such as I should have given up basketball nine games earlier, or everyone contributes to the team effort some just do it better from the bench.
