This document reports the discovery of 96 new infrared open clusters and stellar groups in the Milky Way disk as part of the VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea (VVV) survey. The authors conducted a visual search of VVV survey images towards known star-forming regions, finding compact, young (less than 5 Myr old) clusters that are faint and highly reddened. Photometry was performed on candidate clusters and color-magnitude diagrams were analyzed to determine properties like reddening, distance, and age for relatively populated clusters by fitting isochrones. Most of the newly discovered clusters likely trace early epochs of star formation in the Galaxy.
