Erin Almand is a senior at Saint Louis University studying theatre with an education minor and a 3.95 GPA. She has extensive experience teaching and mentoring children through student teaching, peer instruction, and various volunteer positions. Her objective is to help students reach their potential and advocate for improvement and fairness in education.

Social science, literature, math. Currently teaching my second and third small groups of 3rd-graders in
disadvantaged Saint Louis, each twice weekly. Helping them meet NCTM (National Council of Teachers
of Mathematics) and GLE (Grade Level Expectations) standards.
Fall 2009-Present, U-101 Peer Instructor (stipend), Saint Louis University
Instruct ARTS FIG (Freshman Interest Group) and Honors orientation classes.

Taught riding to groups of elementary children; ran camps; also gave private lessons.

Mentored 24 2nd-grade students for two hours each week. Served as teacher.
2006, VBS Teacher (volunteer), Las Canitas, Dominican Republic
Taught 40 students Bible lessons in a one-room school in a primitive Third-World village for 3 weeks.
INVOLVEMENT/SERVICE/LEADERSHIP/HOBBIES
2007-Present, Micah Program, Saint Louis University
A social justice service organization sponsored by SLU. We do substantial work with children and their
parents in inner-city St. Louis. Served as student liaison for the program during freshman and sophomore
years. I remain involved with this program.

The Theatre Honors Fraternity; I also served as President as a junior and VP as a sophomore.

Alpha Psi Omega’s first-ever student production, a musical.
