GBP/USD hit 1.4960 during European morning trade, the session low; the pair subsequently
consolidated at 1.5008, sliding 0.19%.The pound fell agains the U.S. dollar on Thursday, after
disappointing retail sales data from the U.K. and as the previous session's U.S. home sales data
continued to support the greenback. Cable was likely to find support at 1.4852, the low of
April 21 and resistance at 1.5080, Wednesday's high.In a report, the Office for National Statis-
tics said that U.K. retail sales fell 0.5% last month, compared to expectations for a 0.4% rise
and after a downwardly revised increase of 0.6% in February.
EUR/USD hit 1.0692 during late Asian trade, the pair's lowest since April 21; the pair subse-
quently consolidated at 1.0707, slipping 0.16%.The euro edged lower against the U.S. dollar
on Thursday, after data showed that the German consumer climate improved less than ex-
pected this month and as investors remained cautious ahead of euro zone manufacturing and
service sector data due later later in the day.The pair was likely to find support at 1.0622, the
low of April 16 and resistance at 1.0850, the high of April 17.The euro also remained under
pressure as the Greek government was no closer to reaching an agreement with its euro zone
partners and the International Monetary Fund over economic reforms required to access re-
maining bailout funds, fuelling fears that the country could be forced out of the euro zone.
