2. INTRODUCTION
• Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and
Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) is a state-of-the-art
cancer centre located in Lahore, Pakistan. It is a project
of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, which is a

4. HOW THEY CONTRIBUTE CHARITY
Zakat
Many young innocent lives are being saved at Shaukat
Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research
Centre. Last year, Zakat made it possible to
treat almost 75% of their patients for free. This year
they need 5.5 billion rupees to help those who cannot
afford to pay for their own treatment. While
the revenue from the Hospital's diagnostic services
has always, and continues to be, utilised for their
expansion projects, it is Zakat that is the
hope of life for their poor cancer patients. Donate

zakat hope alive.

As to date the Hospital has spent over Rs.
27.240 billion (US$ 319 Million) in providing
state-of-the-art treatment facilities to
patients from all over the country. They have
embarked upon a number of expansion
projects across Pakistan and need our support
to continue with the mission now more than
ever.

6. • Cancer Patient
Every day, hundreds of cancer patients walk through the doors of
Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre,
with hope in their hearts. Hope that they, too, will be able to live to
see their dreams come true, one day. Cancer Patient Programme
allows them to assume direct responsibility for the treatment of
one or more named cancer patients. This is treatment that most of
the cancer patients could not otherwise afford. Millions of people
sponser a cancer patient in order to safe their lives.
In Pakistan it is expected that about 150,000 people are fall victim
to cancer every year. SKMCH & RC being the only specialized cancer
centre in the entire region with all the cancer diagnostic &
therapeutic facilities under one roof, is constantly pressurized to
meet the growing needs.

8. REASONS FOR CHOOSING THIS
ORGANIZATION
Donating to charities is a major booster. We get a chance to help
others and it makes us feel blessed. The reasons due to which we
have choosen Shaukat Khanam are that because of our donation
,many innocent lives suffering from cancer are saved free of charge
and this is a positive point for the destitutes who can not afford to
pay for their treatments.Shaukat Khanam has also embarked upon a
number of expansion projects across Pakistan.It is expanding
through out the region.It is our zakat that is hope of life for our
poor cancer patients.The revenue from the hospitals diagnostic
services is used in expansion projects and is improving its
facilities.As we can see that the revenue being used for the
betterment of the people so we should donate to it as we know
that our money is being utilized and not being wasted.
