Rodeo involves staying mounted on an animal such as a horse or ox for up to eight seconds and is evaluated by two referees. The practice originated in Brazil in the city of Barretos in 1947 and has since become a popular event held across Brazil each June. While rodeo draws large crowds due to concerts and performances, the author does not feel it is ethical due to risks to the animals and competitors.
