*-s/-es (3º person singular)
Present continuous
SB + (BE) + VB (-ing)
*TO BE: am (not) / is (isn’t) / are (aren’t)
To talk about times of arrivals, departures of traffic
and times of events.
EXAMPLES:
The train leaves at 4p.m.
When does the concert begin?
To talk about future things that are fixed, planned or definitely
decided.
EXAMPLES:
I’m not visiting my parents next week.
What are you doing next Monday?
SB + (Be) going to + VB (infinitive)
*TO BE: am (not) / is (isn’t) / are (aren’t)
1. to talk about future things you intend to do, plan or decided to do.
We aren’t going to have a party next Saturday.
2. to foretell future actions for which we have proofs that they are going to happen.
Based on their findings, scientists say we are going to have a bad winter this year.
SB + WILL / WON’T + VB (infinitive)
1. to talk about future actions we can't influence or control.
You won’t pass the exam if you don’t study.
2. to foretell future actions or to express hopes, expectations, fears, offers, promises and refusals.
Key words: I'm sure, I believe, I expect, I hope, I suppose, I think, I'm afraid, I wonder, I fear, I worry, I promise, I guess or perhaps, probably,
maybe.
I think you won’t like your gift.
3. spontaneous reactions or making promises.
The telephone is ringing, I will answer it!
Future continuous
SB + WILL / WON’T + BE + VB (-ing)
1.To describe a future action happening during a specific time.
The museum will be hosting a special tour at 8 p.m.
2. To describe multiple future actions happening at the same time.
I’ll be playing basketball on Saturday, and my partner will be playing tennis.
3. To describe a future action interrupted by another action.
I won’tl be taking a shower when the guest arrives.
4. To describe hypothetical situations in the future.
We’ll be driving hover cars any day now.
