- it means di for two and phthong for sound.

- a vowel sound formed by combining TWO VOWEL SOUNDS.

- it begins as a one vowel sound and move towards another.

Some of the vowels sounds are oi, oy, ow, and ou.

Such as coin, destroy, town and couch are words with vowel diphthongs
